When All You Can Do Is Shake Your Head…

Filed under: General — Dana @ 9:12 pm

[guest post by Dana]

Today’s daily serving of negative Trump stories at the New York Times began with a dramatic serving of chaos in an article titled, “Firings and Discord Put Trump Transition Team In A State Of Disarray” .

Oh the drama!!

President-elect Donald J. Trump’s transition was in disarray on Tuesday, marked by firings, infighting and revelations that American allies were blindly dialing in to Trump Tower to try to reach the soon-to-be-leader of the free world…

One week after Mr. Trump scored an upset victory that took him by surprise, his team was improvising the most basic traditions of assuming power. That included working without official State Department briefing materials in his first conversations with foreign leaders…

Despite the haphazard nature of Mr. Trump’s early calls with world leaders, his advisers said the transition team was not suffering unusual setbacks. They argued that they were hard at work behind the scenes dealing with the same troubles that incoming presidents have faced for decades…

And so forth.

President-elect Trump pushed back on the NYT tonight and reassured the American people that the transition is going according to plan. And he also let it slip that his new job will be a spin-off of his old one. Think the Ultimate Celebrity Apprentice…

  2. off topic:
I’ve heard a lot about paid protestors lately.

    1. Could Portland sue employer to recover costs?
    2. Could insurance companies sue to recover losses if it can be proved a paid protestor caused the loss

    3. How about a pedestrian, motorist etc who gets attacked?

Just wondering what my exposure will be when I start hiring folks to protest the upcoming Obama pardons

My guess is that the entity employing the protestors has set some good lawyers on creating protection

  3. And he ate dinner at 21, which is an expensive restaurant, and didn’t tell reporters!! And people gave him a standing ovation! And then he told people there, I’ll cut your taxes!!

    OMG, he’s so evil!

All as reported by an unbiased NBC news editor, along with a string of snarky remarks about him. https://twitter.com/BraddJaffy/status/798738692705816576/video/1

  7. disarray? By this time during the Obama transition, Momjeans had managed to insult Nancy Reagan, bring lawsuit against Rob Bobaglivich for auctioning off the Illinois Senate seat, enter a feud with the DNC chairman, and have his first of many resignations of cabinet picks [Bill Richardson] resign under the cloud of corruption charges.

  8. For anyone that has been paying attention for the past 18 months, Trump’s tweet is as predictable as saying the sun will rise in the east. Tell Trump that his temperament makes him unfit to serve as POTUS? He literally responds with “I have the best temperament.” Report that his transition team is very disorganized? Here comes Trump with “very organized process taking place.” In other words, just like A POLITICIAN his first instinct is always to lie & deny.

    Icy (47f724)

  9. Or, he just might be telling it like he sees it. Trump along with his temperment won the presidency – argue with that kind of success if you will, but be prepared but have your own temperament questioned.

As for media reports ‘Trump’s x’tion team is disorganized’ – for months on end that’s what they all said about his campaign staff and we know how that turned out.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence reportedly ordered the removal of all lobbyists from president-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, The Wall Street Journal wrote on Tuesday night.

The decision was one of Pence’s first since formally taking over the team’s lead role. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was abruptly dismissed from the post last week.

    Seems like a good start.”

And for anyone who has been paying attention if Trump tweeted that Icy and the boys would post 47 comments “proving” the sun rises in the west, it only rose in the east when Trump was a democrat, he’s still a democrat, liberals from New York lie about the sun all the time, he talked about groping the sun’s pussy and he’s no different than Obama who believed he sun rose in the south.

  20. Huffington/AOL is promoting the dismissal of the Christie loyalists and lobbyists from the transition team as “a Stalinist purge.”
(Never mind that ‘a Stalinist purge’ is one where people are actually executed.)

Huffington/AOL is also saying that Trump’s escape to dinner on Tuesday is indicative that his Administration will be the most un-transparent of all time. (LOL)
What they mean is that they don’t expect the Trump Administration to be corroborating with the NY Times the way that Team Barack and Team Hillary have done.

  26. If Pelosi loses her post, that will be a sign of much deeper problems in the Dem congressional delegation than is already thought to be the case.

There are 194 Dems in the House after the 2016 elections.

California has 39 Democrats in the House of Representatives.

In the next Congress there will be 84 female Representatives, with 62 of them being Democrats.

And Nancy Pelosi doesn’t have the support, with California and women largely behind her, to get 98 votes. Calif’s delegation alone gives her over 40% of the votes she needs.

If she goes down, and Keith Ellison in fact becomes the DNC chair, its Bernie Sanders’ party.

  27. Oh, yes, and since Patrick and a few other deplorable, unteachable Angelinos no longer subscribe, just to make your day: L.A. Times’ headline today, 11/16, “What to make of Trump one week in? He’s unpredictable.” A few pages in, “Trump Transition Still Stumbling.” Editorial page article: “The war on ‘sanctuary cities,'” subheading, “Despite president-elect Trump’s misguided threat of action, the LAPD holds true to its mission.” Their bill is on my desk. Finally deciding to cancel subscription. Have been threatening myself to do that for past few years. Not the paper we grew up with. Do get a local paper which is fair & balanced and has won too many journalism awards to count.

  28. It looks at this point like in general, there will be a few people Trump knows and trusts but the rest of the Administration appointees – most of the 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 or 4,000 slots, depending on who’s doing the estimating – will be picked by Mike Pence, or by people he selects. (Except maybe for people picked by the people Donald Trump personally picks who make their own hires.)

Yesterday he first got rid of all the people brought in by Chris Christie (not Chris Chrisie himself, whose still on the transition staff, one of half a dozen on the second level, because he was a personal selection by Donald Trump)

This included Mike Rogers, who was maybe headed toward being CIA Director.

Then Mike Pence dismissed all the lobbyists. And he signed the memorandum of Understanding with the Obama Administration.

  30. What I don’t understand is how everybody can jump the gun.

Donald trump has nt bene formally elected predident yet. Yes, we all know, but informally. Yet there’s a very formal transition process. (in the year 2,000 they started it about December 12)

But what would they do if the election went into the House of Representatives?

The House Republicans just elected their Speaker for the next Congress. (Or candidate for Speaker)

Now, not only have they not been sworn in, but their elections probably haven’t even been certified. There could even be one or two mistakes, and even undecided elections.

It’s all informal knowledge, yet some very formal things are taking place. This goes back maybe already now 20 to 40 years.

    Sammy Finkelman (db3b66)

  31. They’re all from the two communist parties in Greece, maybe 5,000 “protesters” altogether. Same types you see at NATO summits and G8 summits. They “protested” Clinton too. Dog bites man.

    nk (dbc370)

  32. Get real, Sammy. Formal/informal/certified/shmertified. The Illuminati decided who would be President and who would be in Congress a year ago.

That’s teh Trifecta… the first of which is particularly horrifying to ponder.

  35. I cannot get my head around the possibility that after last Tuesday they would actually think it’s a smart idea to turn the party’s functionality and messaging over to Keith Ellison.

  36. 41. The NYT has apparently forgotten Bill Clinton’s Clown Car Transition. I recommend reading the brief excerpt from historian John Burke’s book on Presidential transitions to gain a comparative insight. This Wiki on Confirmations of Barack Obama’s Cabinet provides his announcement dates for his picks as well as a nice list of people to whom we will be bidding rather unfond farenotsowells.

I’m pretty sure PROPAGANDISTS IN DISARRAY will be the most accurate headline for the foreseeable future.

  43. Point taken, Icy. He’ll never be a recipient of the sort of free ride an Obama or Clinton presidency would receive. Perhaps the best role model would be to play it like Reagan did, go around the media and take his case to the people.

  57. American allies were blindly dialing in to Trump Tower to try to reach the soon-to-be-leader of the free world…

  59. This does not give credit to the LA Times.

After reporting the election victory as a result of “Fury” and “Anger” (its always “angry” white guys, versus impassioned good guys, we get:

Nov 16, “What to make of Trump one week in? He’s Unpredictable,” by LAT’s Cathleen Decker, who managed the assault on Meg Whitman in 2010 for a terminated maid.

“Uncertainty reigns because Trump came into office riding the anger of an electorate whose resentments he correctly assessed rather than because Americans fully embraced his policy positions.”

See? Only angry people supported Trump. And over anything like the Wall, immigration, trade or making NATO freeloaders pay their fair share. No issues motivated them! No mandate here!

So we need some anonymous sources to tell us that Trump is really dumb:

(Nov 15), “Obama Takes on Role as Tutor in Chief.” Trump needs to be tutored by the Master.

” . . . after Obama’s first face-to-face meeting with Trump, after which several senior White House officials expressed surprise at the extent to which Trump and his aides seemed unprepared for the task ahead.”

And: “Given that apparent gulf between Trump’s current state and preparedness to take the oath of office, Obama stepped in.”

LAT moves ahead, unabashed, unprofitable, largely unread except when I find it on a Starbucks table.
