Hillary Clinton: She Alone Owns This
[guest post by Dana]
Tomorrow’s cover of the New York Post via the twitters:
She built this, she owns this. Let’s let a grown woman assume the responsibility that belongs to her. Let’s not infantilize, patronize and condescend to this breaker of glass ceilings by trying to relieve her of full ownership of this debacle. After all, it’s not like the little woman was at home quietly baking cookies all these years. Instead, she was expertly baking America with a skillful deceit:
But in all of the arguments and counter-arguments about whether Comey is right or wrong, principled or cynical, something important is lost in the conversation: This is all Hillary Clinton’s fault. She did this. She and her husband have spent 30 years bending and breaking the rules and letting others pay the price for it. The Clintons force everyone off the highroad and then, when convenient, condemn them for deviating from it. Clinton put Comey in a terrible situation. We can condemn him — or praise him — for the decisions he made once he ended up there. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that this is all Hillary Clinton’s doing in the first place. She decided to use the home-brew server. She decided to lie about it. She did this. And if she ends up losing this election (which I still very much doubt) it will be her fault — and her fault alone.
Women fought long and hard for the right to choose. Hillary chose. This is her baby. And hers alone.

I’m unsure why you left your comment at this particular post. It’s about Hillary Clinton and her nefarious actions. There is no mention of Trump.
Further, neither myself nor our host, Patterico, nor any other guest contributors have “turned against America”. What a nasty accusation. To the contrary, we are concerned more than ever about the state of our union, and about the inevitable damage this election’s outcome will have on our country.
Further, given that your definition of an “honest man” is Donald Trump, it’s safe to say that your own biased underpants are showing.

He’s pretty far from a puppet master. I think it is most likely that Huma used Outlook to log on to her HRC email, and it downloaded everything on the server that she ever sent or received. Which is what Outlook does, and plenty of people seem not to know that.

DCSCA (797bc0) — 10/29/2016 @ 10:05 pmNow that I understand better what more recent versions of Outlook do, let me suggest something that would completely justify the FBI’s actions:
What if Huma Abedin knew Hillary’s email account password, and for purposes of convenience — such as when HRC was out of the country and unable to access it herself — would sign on from time to time to update HRC about messages she had received but was unaware of?
If she did so using Weiner’s laptop, then what the FBI agents in NY might have quickly realized is that Outlook had stored a complete archive of all 55,000 emails, including the emails that Hillary had deleted, and no one had used BleachBit on that laptop.
Hmmmmmm.

happyfeet (28a91b) — 10/29/2016 @ 11:08 pmThis is why the Clinton camp — not knowing exactly what they are facing — is playing with fire with the bald challenge to Comey to release to the public what it is they have found rather than leave his cryptic letter as his only public comment.
How would it go over if on Monday morning Comey said “We located what we think might be a complete archive of all emails sent/received by the HRC account on the Clinton.com email server, including 20,000 plus emails that have not previously been reviewed since they had been deleted by HRC and her aides prior to her delivery of emails to the State Depart. We know that there was classified information in the 33,000 emails she provided to the State Depart, however it will take us many weeks to determine if there is classified information in the 20,000 plus emails she had deleted and we were not able to analyze.
The fact that a commercial software product such as Outlook would store all her email communications, including highly sensitive and top secret information, onto a laptop computer on a desk in a New York apartment without anyone realizing it, only underscores the point made previously that using an off-the-shelf home-based network server to conduct some of the most significant business done by the United States Intelligence services was at reckless, and potentially criminal act.”

DCSCA (797bc0) — 10/30/2016 @ 1:31 amWhat was really surprising was the headline on the front page of the New York Daily News of Saturday, October 2, 2016.
The New York Daily News is about as pro-Hillary Clinton and anti-Donald Trump as you can get.
Besides occasional cartoons or drawings on the front page and elsewhere, they ran a 6 page editorial Friday a week ago opposing Donald Trump and endorsing Hillary Clinton.
The headline in yesterday’s paper went:
HILLARY’S
WEINER
HELL
{Picture of Anthony Weiner on the left, and picture of Hillary Clinton on the right}
Two red dots begin two underlined lines underneath, that say:
o Clinton email found in sext-case seizure.
o 11th-hr. FBI probe drops bomb on election
In smaller black letetr on the right side of the page at the right side of the line that says WEINER:
As part of Anthony
Weiner’s sexting
probe, the FBI said
Friday, more Hillary
Clinton emails have
been discovered
Slightly larger, in red, underneath these words:
PAGES
4-5

I think they must have sensed some panic, or just a lack of response, coming from the Clinton campaignn, when that headline was composed.
By the way, and this is different from the way Donald Trump handles bad stories about himself, the Clinton macchine does not really defend Hillary Clinton so much, as argue with the press that they are wrong or could be wrong. There’s a rapid response, but it doesn’t go out to the general public really, although some of spills over.
They must not have been getting anything.
The ediorial must have been composed a bit later than the headline, and is somewhat criticial of Comey – that he should say more – but also undecided about what it could really mean.
By today Sunday, they are more pro-Clinton on the front page. There is a party line now:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/the-week?pdate=20161030
See: Comey went rogue. He ignored the department of Justice. Hillary Clinton rips his innuendo. The FBI Director should step down. (refers to a Daily News columnist)
Sammy Finkelman (b4888e) — 10/30/2016 @ 3:48 amThe Clinton campaign is being very crticial of Comey, like he’s trying to turn the election against Hillarry Clinton. In reality, they probably know better. Except maybe for the part about not hiding this from Congress.
This is what probably happened:
The New York FBI Office, which has been investigating the possibility of Weiner getting something that qualifies as child pornography, and whose investigators are not the same people who investigated the use of the private server by Hillary Clinton, and don’t report to them either – they are not the same people at all – seized Huma Abedin’s devices. They found some e-mails from the State Department there.
The New York FBI office informed Comey on Thursday.
If he wouldn’t take over the investigation, they would do it themselves in New York. They may be doing it themselves anyway for anything besides the issue of mishandling classified information.
If he wanted to protect Hillary, Comey had to take over the investigation.
Once done, he also had to inform a Congressional committee because he had publicly declared that the investigation was over, and now it wasn’t, and that would leave the public with a misleading impression.
He at least had to tell Congress, because relations could become very, very, sour later if he didn’t.
Comey did not specifically inform the public. House Republicans did. (if I have this right. They were the nes who released his letter.)
Comey then also made a public explanaton directed at FBI employees.
Sammy Finkelman (b4888e) — 10/30/2016 @ 3:53 am39. shipwreckedcrew (56b591) — 10/29/2016 @ 11:10 pm
They know more, however, than anyone else not in the FBI does.
They know what was on Hma Abedin’s devices Very, very, probably.
They know he won;t. It’s a very good bet nothing will happen in remaining 10 days.
NBC News reported that nobody actually looked at the e-mails. They discoverdd they were there, mayue thousands of them, and to do anything further, they needeed a new search warrant, as the old one didn’t cover this kind of thing.
Comey was proably informed prior to the request for a search warrant.
There’s a number of oher things I saw on another thread that I want to omment on, but one important thing people are missing is different people were in charge of the Weiner investigation.

I do think this will be a race against time, sort of like the way the investigation of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich in 2008 was a race against time. They had to do this before he apppointed someone to Barack Obama’s Senate seat. This has to be done before Hlary Clinton gets inaugurated, if she is elected. On Saturday, March 19, 2016 (this is aftere the Florida primary) John Podesta received an e-mail taht purported to come from Google.
It said that someone in Ukraine had obtained his personal GMail password and attempted unsuccessfully to log in. It said he should change his Gmail password, and helpfully provided a web link for him to do so.
Podesta didn’t act right away, or maybe didn’t even see it, but his chief of staff, Sara Latham forwarded it to the operations help desk of the Clinton campaign, where a staffer by the name of Charles Delevan wrote back 25 minutes later saying:
And with that, someone in Ukraine (or Russia or a location near Russia) obtained his G-Mail password for real.
They did not leak it them. Russia was still in the intelligence gathering process.
It was only after the penetration of the Democratic National Committee was revealed and stopped, and the candidate line-up settled on Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, that Vkladimir Putin must have made a decision to leak wat he had.
They got Podesta e-mails through August.
