Hey, NYT, If Hillary Clinton Wants Voters To Trust Her, She Should Start By Admitting She Was Indeed “Extremely Careless” With Her Emails

Filed under: General — Dana @ 8:57 am

[guest post by Dana]

The New York Times would like you to know that Hillary Clinton is aware of that pesky trust issue that’s been dogging her the entire campaign and that she is working on it:

For most of her presidential campaign, whenever Hillary Clinton has been confronted with polls showing that a majority of voters do not trust her, she has attributed the problem to decades of wild Republican attacks and right-wing conspiracy theories.

Last week, speaking to a sympathetic crowd in Chicago, she also pointed a finger in a surprising new direction: at herself.

“I personally know I have work to do on this front; a lot of people tell pollsters they don’t trust me,” Mrs. Clinton said in a speech to the Rainbow/Push Coalition on June 27. “It is certainly true I have made mistakes,” she said a moment later, adding, “So I understand people having questions.”

The questions grew far more intense after the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey Jr., on Tuesday bluntly contradicted numerous statements Mrs. Clinton and her aides had made over the past year in defending her email practices as secretary of state.

Though Mr. Comey’s stark critique of her actions as “extremely careless” came after he recommended that she not be criminally charged, it cast a harsh light on perhaps the central challenge to Mrs. Clinton and her campaign: how to get skeptical voters to trust her.

Yet the snippet of introspection last week from Mrs. Clinton, a candidate not known for public soul-searching, may have signaled an important shift in how she and her campaign hope to do just that.

You can’t just talk someone into trusting you,” she told her audience. “You’ve got to earn it.”

Certainly it’s true that trust is earned. But the problem is, Hillary Clinton just doesn’t believe she is untrustworthy or has done anything wrong. Not really. It’s still everyone else’s fault. She just has the unfortunate bad luck of getting caught in the crosshairs of other people’s incompetency. And when your premise is that everyone else is at fault from the get-go, there really isn’t any reason to own anything. Not even when it’s the Director of the FBI laying out the case against you:

Untitled

In an interview with Scott Pelley on the CBS Evening News, Clinton once again demonstrates that she really doesn’t understand (or care) about building trust with voters. This is in spite of the efforts of the New York Times to convince us otherwise.

At the 5:10 mark:

Scott Pelley: Well, were you extremely careless?

Hillary Clinton: No, I was not, and neither were the 300 people who sent me that material.

  5. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Hillary could have sex with a goat in Macy’s window while eating aborted baby parts – all captured on live TV – and 40% of Americans would still vote for her. Furthermore, she could, as another commenter noted, be caught on video roasting an aborted baby for Thanksgiving and the so called progressives would ask for the recipe. Liberalism is, indeed, a mental disorder.

  28. Here’s an article from Ian Hanchett at Breitbart 8/7/16

I’m going to be talking to white people…

On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” presumptive Democratic presidential nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated, “I’m going to be talking to white people. I think we’re the ones who have to start listening to the legitimate cries that are coming from our African-American fellow citizens,” and called for greater respect and protection for the police.

Hillary began by expressing her condolences over the “horrific” shooting of police officers in Dallas, TX, adding, “I also want us to remember that, just 24 hours before, we had a killing, with the loss of life, in Baton Rouge, in Minneapolis, and right before talking with you, it appears we had an additional event in Tennessee. This is deeply troubling, and it should worry every single American. You know, we’ve got to do much more, to listen to one another, respect each other. We’ve got to do everything possible to, you know, support our police, and support innocent Americans who have deadly encounters with the police.”

Hillary also repeated her call for national guidelines for the use of force by police, looking into implicit bias, and called for more respect and protection for the police and for people to put themselves in other peoples’ shoes. She later added, “I reiterate a call for national guidelines. We have 18,000 police departments. Some of them are very small. Some of them are not very well-trained. Some of them, you know, don’t really have the resources that are necessary to keep training and retraining. And, frankly, Wolf, to go after systemic racism, which is a reality, and to go after implicit bias.”

She concluded the discussion on policing and race with, “I have been involved in working to try to close the racial divide my entire adult life. I’ve worked on issues of criminal justice reform, incarceration, juvenile justice, for many decades, and I’m heartbroken that we have to keep repeating and doing that work year after year, but I am determined, and I am persistent. And I will call for white people, like myself, to put ourselves in the shoes of those African-American families who fear every time their children go somewhere, who have to have the talk about, you know, how to really protect themselves, when they’re the ones who should be expecting protection from encounters with the police. I’m going to be talking to white people. I think we’re the ones who have to start listening to the legitimate cries that are coming from our African-American fellow citizens, and we have so much more to be done, and we’ve got to get about the business of doing it. We can’t be engaging in hateful rhetoric, or incitement of violence. We need to be bringing people together, and I’ve said on the campaign trail repeatedly, we need more love and kindness, and I know that’s not usually what presidential candidates say, but I believe it, and I’m going to be speaking about it from now, all the way into the White House and beyond.

I suspected greymail but 300 Obama officials who are all ignoring the rules and procedures for safeguarding national security information would have decapitated the government. The irony is she was provided with the tools and equipment to to properly handle classified communications. She just didn’t want to use it. Obama and apparently 300 others knew it and didn’t care. That’s why she’s skating. Why congressional republicans couldn’t draw that out of Comey is a mystery.

  38. One observation absent from the discussions about the Dallas shooter is the recent instruction from ISIS to lone wolf terrorists to limit their murderous rampages to white people. Otherwise the Obama Administration would mislabel the attack as a ‘hate crime’ or some variant of ‘workplace violence’ so as to deny credit for a successful attack to the ISIS inspired terrorists.

The Dallas shooter specified that he wanted to kill white people, especially white police officers. The ISIS connection should be closely examined openly, in the light of day. Moreover, the intermediate links to the New Black Panthers and to the Nation of Islam require close scrutiny.

That wasn’t really classified, though. Stripping off the markings would have been valid, as it was only the markings that rendered it classified. The e-mails that were sent aht were marked classified, three oof them, really shouldn’t have been, and if they should have should have been sent on the classified system, which could not e-mail the Secretary of State.

    GUS (30b6bd) — 7/9/2016 @ 9:31 pm

She set up the SERVER, for the EXPRESS PURPOSE of HIDING her GOVT ACTIVITIES from GOVT and more importantly PUBLIC scrutiny. How have we lost sight of that??

Even more important, to avoid inadvertantly leaving some traces of criminal violations of criminal law.

But setting up that server does not indicate an intent to send classified information to an unapproved location. The system was set up to replace the State Department’s system for sending unclassified e-mail, although lots of stuff on that system maybe should have been classified, but it was impractical to use the classified system too much because it was only accessible in certain locations, where you also had to be careful not to take a cellphone or laptop into. They weren’t living on a military base, and they weren’t on duty or available, only during certain hours.

The State Department actually didn’t even trust their classified system, and used a system belonging to a different agency, when they really wanted to communicate in secret,

Comey seemes to confirm – at least hhe did not deny – that there maybe is a separate investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

    1. Separate grading from teaching. The person who does the teaching should not be doing the grading. It probably even shouldn’t be done by the same school.

    2. No money is due to a college or educational institution until someone passes a course, except for what may be charged in advance and paid for by the student without borrowing.

    3. Pay money in advance for tutoring and online learning, and access to libraries and databases.

    4. Do not require someone to be a full time or even a half time student to get reimbursed, sp people can proceed at their own pace. And remember, no federal money unless someone passes the course, and no money lent until a course is passed. There can be small grants.

Waco was Bill’s doing. Jay William Buford, head of the BATF in Little Rock, who murdered three of his own men in the initial raid on February 28, 1993, hoping to blame David Koresh for their deaths, was a Friend of Bill and not of Hillary. Buford had been in charge of the investigation into the first, unsuccessful attempt to murder Alice McArthur in Little Rock in 1982, which was done using a bomb.

  44. To help cut thru the BS…

“JOHN HINDERAKER: Are Blacks Disproportionately Involved In Police Shootings?
What was the racial breakdown of those who were shot by police in 2015? The largest number, 494, almost exactly half, were white. 258 were black, 172 were Hispanic, and the remaining 66 were either “other” or unknown. (Interestingly, Asians are rarely shot by police officers.)

The 258 blacks represent 26% of the total. That is about double the percentage of blacks in the American population. Is that prima facie evidence of racism on the part of law enforcement? Of course not. It is common knowledge that blacks have an unusually high rate of contact with the police, both as victims and as perpetrators. In 2012-2013, the Department of Justice found that blacks were the perpetrators of 24% of all violent crimes where the race of the perpetrator was known (in 7.8% of violent crimes, it was unknown).

So the percentage of blacks fatally shot by police officers (26%) is almost exactly equal to the percentage of blacks committing violent crimes (24%). Indeed, given that the black homicide rate is around eight times the white rate, it is surprising that the portion of blacks fatally shot by policemen is not higher.”

A cop could interpret that as being that he has intention to take him off his guard when he sees the gun coming out, so that the other person could have a chance to shoot him.
