Trump, Master Persuader!
Let me give you a lesson in how Donald Trump is the Master Persuader. Kudos to Scott Adams of the Dilbert blog for pointing out Trump’s genius as a communicator.
“Do you think — honestly, honestly, honestly — do you think Hillary looks presidential?” The crowd answered in unison as Trump smirked: “Noooo!”
“I don’t think so,” Trump continued, shaking his head. “And I’m not going to say it because I’m not allowed to say it because I want to be politically correct, so I refuse to say that I cannot stand her screaming into the microphone all of the time.”
You see Trump’s genius at work here. See, if someone is upset by this Linguistic Kill Shot, and accuses him of being politically incorrect, he can deny having said it, pointing to his explicit denial: “I refuse to say it.” Trump wins! But if someone enjoys listening to Trump making fun of Hillary, then they will recognize what Trump is really saying, and applaud. Trump wins!
I admire his good, solid sense. It’s precisely what they lack on Capitol Hill.
The pot calling the kettle black. He’s got a trick of doing that, and his moronic followers eat it up.
Nothing he says is “operative” for more than five minutes, but it’s “Lying Ted”. He’s a duck-faced old fruit with a spray-tan and a ridiculous combover who spits when he talks, but it’s Hillary who does not look Presidential. He has confessed, confessed in every sense of the term, to bribing politicians to grease the skids for his business deals, and it’s “Corrupt Hillary”.
F*** it! Obama/Biden 2016! Amend the Constitution.
nk (dbc370) — 5/31/2016 @ 1:07 amGo to Netflix and watch “Look Who’s Back”. It is a hilarious mix of “Network”, “Being There”, “Borat” and modern politics. A German movie with subtitles, so you have to actually watch it, instead of having it on in the background while you do something else.

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, your hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake your ground
You held me down, but I got up
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now
Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, your hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

papertiger (c2d6da) — 5/31/2016 @ 4:14 amnk: If Mr. Trump can elevate you’re heart pressure to want another term of President 44 this early in the morn-you will have a stroke when he is President45.
mike191 (4c004d) — 5/31/2016 @ 4:58 amI remembered that there is a particular term (and a collection of other synonyms) for this rhetorical device.
Went to look it up: sure enough, Trump is now quoted as an example of (in)famous users.

Rev. Hoagie© (734193) — 5/31/2016 @ 6:00 amI think Hillary screaming into her mike is bizarre and extremely annoying. Why isn’t Trump man enough to say he thinks so? Why the weasel-out coward stuff about how he refuses to say something that’s politically incorrect?
This need to be dishonest, even when there’s no good reason, is why Trump comes across as no leader I could follow. Unpresidential.
For all the posing in the primary, Trump needs to be politically correct. And anyone supporting him while expecting anything that would upset an Obama or a Hillary is a naive fool.

Colonel Haiku (fb04fc) — 5/31/2016 @ 6:17 amThere are at least two ways to be more persuasive: hone your skills of persuasion, or find a less intelligent, more gullible audience. Trump himself is too dumb to take the former path, but he has taken the latter with gusto.

nk (dbc370) — 5/31/2016 @ 6:21 am“When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

happyfeet (831175) — 5/31/2016 @ 6:44 amNo doubt Trump is a great con man. He rarely talks about facts and policies, because then its too easy to get caught or mired down in them. And when he does, he changes his mind quickly to whatever the popular position is.
He riles his supporters up about looks, with silly nicknames and with catchy phrases. They eat it up. They don’t care they are being sold bad bill of goods. Trump makes them feel good, and feel a part of a movement. He brings out the tribalism in them: Its us vs them, and you don’t want to be them do you? Its the same thing Obama fed off of.
Its hard to not be a part of the group. Just remember to stick to your convictions, and in the end you will be right.
Patrick Henry, the 2nd (e04f50) — 5/31/2016 @ 7:19 amIt’s worse if you’re part of the group. It’s a threesome with Roger Stone.

Bill H (971e5f) — 5/31/2016 @ 10:01 amIt’s not a rhetorical device. Everyone is in on the joke except for Patterico. He’s equal parts mocking Hillary and the political correctness scolds. I don’t think Trump is worried about being scolded by the pc scolds so uses some trick to avoid it. Almost no one is stupid enough to believe that.
Jcurtis (b90b7d) — 5/31/2016 @ 11:39 amBill H: “…people like you…” You mean people who do not believe in the mantra , death to the Republic by a president called Trump, than you are correct ,sir.
mike191 (4c004d) — 5/31/2016 @ 11:56 amThese are the same tools routinely used by the NYT, WaPo, MSNBC, CNN, Katy Couric, Dan Blather, to destroy the character of lessor candidates.
These same can be turned and used against them, and their candidate.
