I gotta stand with him. He knows Springsteen!

p.s. Ben Carson has suspended his campaign.

–Dana

UPDATE BY PATTERICO: Carson has not technically suspended his campaign, but he has admitted it’s over. As Cruz supporters, we don’t want to be accused of LYING!!!!11!1!!

UPDATE BY DANA: I was hasty in my wording. Here is Dr. Carson’s statement:

I have decided not to attend the Fox News GOP Presidential Debate tomorrow night in Detroit. Even though I will not be in my hometown of Detroit on Thursday, I remain deeply committed to my home nation, America. I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results. However, this grassroots movement on behalf of “We the People” will continue. Along with millions of patriots who have supported my campaign for President, I remain committed to Saving America for Future Generations. We must not depart from our goals to restore what God and our Founders intended for this exceptional nation.

As Robert Costa tweeted:

CARSON will not formally suspend today, but bid is over. Will make speech Friday at CPAC.

  5. Good to hear that Carson made that choice, and I thought the article was fair as far as I know, Carson’s comments concerning foreign policy belied a lack of appreciation for the evil that exists out there.
But I’m glad he ran, and I hope he can continue to be a voice in terms of ObamaCare, the Black family (and all families, for that matter), the need for people to take responsibility for their own choices instead of blaming others.

  7. I’m guessing Rubio and Kasich will both last through their own state primaries, unless their polls show them not winning, and hence may drop out first.

I think Kasich is running for VP and wants to demonstrate he can bring in the crucial swing state of Ohio. I think he is more popular still in Ohio than Rubio is in FL, but that is a bit of a guess.

  9. Minor quibble, Dana; Ben Carson has not suspended his campaign. He may well do so Friday at CPAC (or he may not) and he’s definitely out of the debate tomorrow, and clearly signaled he may leave the race, but he has not, yet, suspended his campaign.

  29. Mr Happyfeet, vitamin C (inherent in cantaloupe) absorbs into the bloodstream pretty fast—that’s why a screwdriver (vodka + orange juice) always works well.

But on the other hand, Orange Toupees don’t work as well. Although they do seem to get into the bloodstream fast and STAY there. And there seems to be a terrible hangover effect. (LOL)

  30. UC Santa Barbara Sangria:

In a small sauce pan: Add 2 Tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and 2 Tablespoons of fresh orange juice to 2 Tablespoons of powdered sugar. Warm gently and stir till sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Let cool.

In a large pitcher: Add 1ea 750 ml bottle of red wine (something inexpensive and lacking in personality) to 2 cups of lemonade, 2 shots of gin, 2 shots of vodka, add cooled sugar and fruit juice mix.

Slice a lemon, lime, and orange (remove seeds) add to pitcher, stir well. Serve in relatively large glass mugs over lots of ice. Don’t put ice in pitcher it waters down the magic. Garnish with fruit slices from pitcher.

Drink in moderation – it’ll sneak up on you.

  33. Interesting: Eating lunch w/ a Carson staffer right now. They are shocked. Who knew about this? “No one did. Ben must have made the decision by himself.”

And this: A former Carson staffer says Carson was in regular contact w/ Trump, who even offered they campaign together

    Dana (86e864)

  34. Dana, if it’s true that Trump offered to campaign together with Carson and Carson declined the offer, then he has only himself to blame for such a poor showing.

  66. Hello, clowns.

Trump is your nominee, thanks very much in part to my fellow Tennesseans. I voted for Cruz, didn’t matter…in fact veterans, of all people, voted overwhelmingly for the serial adulterer con artist. Drinking helps but is small solace when considering what embarrassingly little can be done short of the California caucus.

Nothing, even dead drunk stoned, is my best guesstimate.

Carry on discussing Cruz taking 3 states (Texas!), Trump took less delegates than “expected”, Rubio is finally being called out as an obvious tool of the elite GOP.

…In a statement, Brian Fallon, a spokesman for the Clinton campaign, said: “As we have said since last summer, Secretary Clinton has been cooperating with the Department of Justice’s security inquiry, including offering in August to meet with them to assist their efforts if needed.”

It’s just a “security review” or a “security inquiry,” they’ve been trying to insist. NOT a criminal investigation.

Tell me, who needs immunity from prosecution if something is NOT a criminal investigation?
