  1. Suddenly I’m way more open to Sanders than I was before.

Gloria Steinem gets it, though she might have the genders crossed.

  2. I’ve never wanted to be a 75 year old northeasterner named “Bernie.”
    Until now.
There’s some internships available, young lady!

  3. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that Dana skillfully mined this topic in an earlier post. She did such a good job of it that I can get away with just the one picture which in this case really is worth a thousand words.

  4. It’s going to be so great being retired on the backs of all these willing nubile young women. I hope they like hard work.

  5. Kevin, it is very interesting. I honestly think young folks react and do not think. It’s all “bumper sticker” thinking. And more to the point, it is about how they feel about themselves, rather than the facts of the matter. I have had some interesting discussions with students about this; they have no interest in Sanders’ background. It’s all memes. And it really seems that the meme about HRC is “crooked.” I like that, since I believe it is factually correct. But these young folks have no idea where the money will come from.

I just reviewed applications at my university from faculty seeking release time to work on scholarly things. All of the liberal arts folks want to work on PC topics, ranging from sympathetic approach to BDS over Palestine to agenda driven anti-technology screeds. It’s bumper stickers all the way down.

  6. As for Ms. Ratajkowski, she will be fine, economically.

So she can afford (ha!) to be a Sanders supporter.

  9. Never could figure out the cracks Lena’s character(s) made about middle-age lesbians. They were way too self-incriminating.

  14. You know, Colonel, it’s interesting. I have known women who act in movies. They look MUCH different for the photographer than in real life.

Emily seems like a nice lady.

But then, I wonder if those Robin Thicke bacteria all over her can ever be removed.

    I’m a lot like I was

Old man I got a chub
    At Twenty four
    there was so much more
gettin’ old and i throw the dice
And that just makes me blue

    Chub lost, such a cost,
    Give me things
    that don’t get lost.
Flip a coin, stay off teh sauce
It makes me sad that’s true

Old man and I may get a chub
    If I look at Emily
    Don’t need someone like dunham
    I won’t chase teh chubby
Ah, one look at her thighs
Would make a blind man flee

  19. Well, if the photos are representative of voting outcomes, clearly Hillary’s camp will win because Bernie’s camp will starve and be unable to cast their votes. Let them eat cake, indeed!

  23. The campaign, in 20-something surface politics:

    Clinton: corrupt old guard
    Sanders: truthful revolutionary

    Trump: what an azzhole
    Cruz: ugly moralist
    Rubio: would ban all abortions
Bush: I don’t need another dad
Kasich: fresh, new thinking for a Republican
Carson: what is he smoking and can I get some?

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  24. Bernie’s camp will starve and be unable to cast their votes

Hillary’s camp will be unable to leave the cupcake shoppe.

You could have fun and suggest that, in the interest of a balanced academic environment that half of the research topics be in some way conservative, and let them sort it out. If anything you’ll get to see how creative they can be.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  26. I’m pretty sure that all of the “Conservative” topics will be along the lines of obituaries.

  27. Or more like “How the Trump platform compares to Mussolini’s”

  28. Every man has those moments when he sees a woman so beautiful, he is temporarily immobilized, not wanting to avert his gaze because it would suddenly end the euphoria looking at her has brought him. When it comes to magazine covers, that has happened to me twice: In 1979 with not-then-famous model Phoebe Cates, and 2014 with Emily Ratajkowski.

Worry not, however. There is no way even Helen of Troy could get me to poke a ballot for Bernie.

P.S. Because it was playing in your head anyway, here’s The Cars with “Moving In Stereo.” Tremolo-shaking music… 😉

Is that one of those easy access zippers Emily’s got there ???

  31. Her name is Ratajkowski and you guys are searching for reasons why she’s for Bernie?

Why don’t Polish girls drink Kool Aid? They can’t get two quarts of water in the envelope.
Why did the Polish girl do a DNA test? To be sure the baby was hers.
What was the Polish girl’s question to her gynecologist? How could she keep the pill from falling out.

I’m at the bus stop with two Polish girls. The bus comes and one of them steps up to the door asn asks the driver, “Will this bus take me to Navy Pier?” The bus driver says, “No, ma’am, it will not”. The other one asks, “Will it take me?”

For me, it was Cheryl Tiegs in an elevator in the Plaza Hotel in October 1979. I remember it like it was yesterday ….

  33. I worked in a Drug Store for a while in Santa Barbara while I was in college, Bo Derek would come in from time to time. I’d seen her on TV and in the movies, but in person, face to face, she was stunning. And, I was used to pretty girls, the UCSB campus was full of them, but Bo was in a class by herself. And, she was a nice person, polite, unassuming, and kind.
