Rubio the Robot, Part Deux

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 6:13 pm

Ay chihuahua.

You. Are Even More Stupid. Than I First Computed.

UPDATE: And a one.

“My wife Jeanette and I are raising four children in the 21st century,” he says. “And we have to work harder every year to instill in them the values that they teach in my church, instead of the values that Hollywood and the media [are] trying to ram down our throats.”

And a two.

“My wife Jeanette and I are raising four children right now, and we have to work harder than ever to ensure that our children grow up with the values they teach in our church instead of the values they are trying to ram down our throats in the popular culture,” he said, although his fondness for hip-hop music is well-documented.

And a three.

UPDATE x2: Classic.

Thanks to Arizona CJ as well as to the creator the video, Hugh Atkin, for the pointer.

  2. I’ll just say that what Rubio repeated the other night was worth repeating.
And Christie was more eager to diminish Rubio than agree about what the real problem is about Obama, not that he was a first term senator, but that he is a leftist ideologue who hates not only the mistakes of America, but the ideals of America as well.

  3. he’s still deeply in beta i think

  4. MD, you know what the problem with Rubio is? He does not spell his name T-e-d C-r-u-z.

  5. What’s the big deal? I’ve noticed the same thing from Siri, especially when Siri was new. It can probably be fixed with a software patch.

I’d also like to commend the choice of the second vid; “Lost in Space” is so appropriate on many levels regarding Rubio.

And speaking of Rubio in the issue itself (whether Obama is incompetent, or knows exactly what he’;s doing) I give you Rubio debating someone who holds the opposite view (himself)

  6. Well, nk, I still think the main problem with Rubio is working with Schumer on an immigration bill. It will take a lot of action, not words, to make up for that one.

  7. I repeat what I said a few days ago. Patrick, this would be fine if you were consistently criticizing other candidates, including Democrats, nearly as much as you are attacking Rubio. And yeah, he sometimes repeats himself too much. But he can also be a brilliant debater.

Where did the critiques of Trump go? Two months ago you were blood-vowing never to vote for him, even to prevent President Sanders. Now Trump gets a pass because Patrick’s chosen one might be challenged by Rubio.

I think I’m outta here. I may come back out of URL-typing habit some, and after the nomination I may come back. Enjoy your Cruz-worship and Rubio hatred.

When you’re in a minority in a legislature, how else can you ever get anything done except by working with the majority, trying to get as good a bill as you think can pass, and then hope the other house where your side has the majority will improve it?

Even if you’re in the majority, you often have to work with some minority members, which is why Schumer was doing so; but obviously if you’re from the majority you get more of what you want in it. Rubio had just come from Florida where (from the majority side of the equation) he’d successfully done that many times.

Everyone agreed that something had to be done about immigration. And he makes a good point when he says that if something had passed, something short of the Republican ideal better than the senate bill but, we might not have been in the situation we’re in now, with 0bama making his own rules.

  9. Cruz connects on an intellectual level.
But most humans connect first on a visceral level.
Repetition works there until a wise guy like Christie plays spoiler… here is my marker… Cruz can’t even beat Sanders.
Rubio can learn to change talking points around to “sound” different.
Cruz can’t get a personality that connects with people from the neck down overnight.

The race will come down to Trump Rubio as long as Christie is getting paid to be an attack dog.
Christie is an ass. He sucked up to Obama and torpedoed Romney. Now he is sucking up to Bush and trying to torpedo Rubio… but he won’t lay a glove on Trump because Trump employs too many people from NJ.

As soon as Christie sees Cruz as a viable alternative nationwide he’ll turn on Cruz too… the anti Trump pro Bush guys have signaled they will gladly stay in the race and attack Rubio and yeah Cruz.

Christie attacked Rubio because he sees Rubio as a bigger nationwide threat than Cruz, but he will cower and cave to money when it becomes likely Cruz is sealed as #2 vs #1Trump.

My opinion is that if elected Trump will offer Christie the AG spot and Christie will savage anyone that gets in the way of that…

  10. Schumer happens to be near the top of my disliked politicians list, ever since he took lead in the Borking of Pickering as a racist years ago.
I know he has done some good in relation to the Iran fiasco, but still

As far as working with the dems because it worked at the state level…
I thought W. demonstrated quite persuasively that accomplishing bipartisan efforts at the state level had enough carry over at the fed level to get taken in with one lousy bill, as in no child left behind,
It was Kennedy’s bill at first when people thought it was a good thing,
Then it was Bush’s when the unintended consequences became apparent.

Rubio should have learned that lesson,
    So should have Lee

MD not exactly in Philly (deca84)

  11. And that and 15 minutes of cooperation after 9/11 was all Bush was going to get.
Is there a reason to expect something different today?

  12. You go to war with the army you have. And you legislate with the opposition you have. Especially when they’re in the majority.

  13. Some things should be repeated ad nauseum.

    JD (f36f05)

  14. True,
But are assuming that anything was better than nothing ,
And with Reid and Obama and Co., that is not an assumption that I would make.
Besides, Obama will do what he wants to do no matter what.

    G’ night

  15. But are assuming that anything was better than nothing ,

Not that anything was better than nothing, but that this bill, or at least the version the House would send back, would be better than nothing.

Besides, Obama will do what he wants to do no matter what.

And yet he didn’t do that, until he gave up on Congress ever passing something he could sign.

Try this experiment. Go to my main page: patterico.com. Scroll down the page and see if you see any criticism of Trump. I just did, and I saw virtually nothing but one post after another criticizing Trump. Day in, day out.

Your comment makes zero sense unless you got this blog confused with another one. One of my anti-Trump (and yes, pro-Cruz) posts was read on Mark Levin’s radio show today, I’m told.

If you are not just just a drive-by, then come back here. Leave a comment that quotes the title of every post from this blog so far this month. Then try to argue that I have stopped criticizing Trump. If you can actually carry out this exercise without becoming totally embarrassed, and filled with a desire to apologize to me, then I don’t know what to say to you.

    Patterico (86c8ed)

  17. Seriously, the next drive-by is going to tell me I’m not supporting Ted Cruz enough.

    Patterico (86c8ed)

  18. The Rubiobots on Twitter claim this is a “rhetorical device.”

Dan McLaughlin, a Rubio fan but not usually prone to saying silly things, compares this to MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

    Words fail.

    Patterico (86c8ed)

  19. I’ve been reading this blog for quite some time (a lot longer than I’ve been commenting).

Patterico criticizes Trump a lot. Anyone who reads here would know that. Therefor, that comment was IMHO a drive-by, or a shill.

    Arizona CJ (da673d)

  20. No, I think the comment came out of a perception that the anti-Trump posts stopped, and were replaced by anti-Rubio posts, and Mitch thought this represented a swing of editorial policy rather than simply a matter of Patterico not being able to write about every subject every day.
