Iowa Spin
So much of the way people interpret election results is media-driven babble about “expectations” and similar nonsense.
I would offer the following differing perspective.
Four years ago, I'd have called you crazy if you said a candidate with a firm anti-ethanol subsidy stance had even a CHANCE of winning Iowa.

So there.
P.S. Ronald Reagan lost Iowa in the primaries in 1980. He went on to sweep the country in a landslide. He lost six states in the general election. Iowa was not one of them.

Jeb needs to go for sure he’s embarrassing himself
happyfeet (831175) — 1/31/2016 @ 11:58 pmI’m delighted with Cruz’s ethanol stand.
@ Happyfeet; I hope Jeb stays in the race. I certainly don’t want him to win, but IMHO he’s doing good work with his attacks on Rubio. I’d like nothing better than for those two to kill each other’s campaigns.
Arizona CJ (da673d) — 2/1/2016 @ 1:20 amThat it is at all possible speaks to just how eager much of the electorate is in blowing up the status quo. Trump’s unreal support is more of the same.
Ed from SFV (3400a5) — 2/1/2016 @ 1:38 amthat’s a good point Mr. CJ
smarmy smarmy marco sleazio, who’s never had a real job in his whole life, he isn’t even running again for senate
we’ll never be rid of him though
he’s gonna be some kind of lobbyist i’d guess
probably for his sugar daddies
nasty lil parasite, that one
happyfeet (831175) — 2/1/2016 @ 1:50 amcow hampshire is as over rated as iowa.
mg (31009b) — 2/1/2016 @ 3:11 amWhat ethanol stand? He agreed to do nothing while more and more useless and detrimental decanting stations are added.
papertiger (c2d6da) — 2/1/2016 @ 7:27 amGonna close his eyes to the squandering of tax dollars sacrificed on the alter of Al Gore’s cash cow.
Running the clock until 2022, when he’s out of office (if he gets elected president).
That’s not leadership. That’s kicking the can down the line.
Your candidate’s “principled stand” is exactly the same as what a global warming hustler would do.
papertiger (c2d6da) — 2/1/2016 @ 7:35 amYour gonna clawback the subsidies retroactively, sheesh.
narciso (732bc0) — 2/1/2016 @ 7:42 amGeorge W. Bush lost Iowa in 2000, but won it in 2004. The same thing with New Mexico. the reverse was the case with New Hampshire – Bush carried and gore lost it in 2000 but he lost it in 2004. Those were the only 3 states where the results differed between 2000 and 2004.
I think Iowa and New Hampshire are close states in the general election because of the intense campaigning there in the primary season. The voters are different there.
