Terrorist Syed Farook’s Father Speaks Out

Filed under: General — Dana @ 2:28 pm

[guest post by Dana]

The father of Syed Farook spoke about his son’s obsession with ISIS and Israel in an interview this weekend:

“My son said that he shared [ISIS leader Abu Bakr] Al Baghdadi’s ideology and supported the creation of the Islamic State,” said Farook’s dad, also named Syed Farook, who lives in Corona, Calif., with another son who is a Navy veteran. “He was also obsessed with Israel.”

“I told him he had to stay calm and be patient because in two years Israel will not exist anymore,” the elder Farook told La Stampa in an article published Sunday. The foreign language daily’s report was translated in part by The Times of Israel.

“Geopolitics is changing: Russia, China and America don’t want Jews there anymore. They are going to bring the Jews back to Ukraine. What is the point of fighting? We have already done it and we lost. Israel is not to be fought with weapons, but with politics. But he did not listen to me, he was obsessed,” the father said in the interview, according to The Times of Israel.

Also, President Obama startled with a shocking possible motive for last week’s massacre:

“It is entirely possible that these two attackers were radicalized to commit this act of terror,” Obama said in his weekly radio address Saturday. “And if so, it would underscore a threat we’ve been focused on for years — the danger of people succumbing to violent extremist ideologies.”

“We know that ISIL and other terrorist groups are actively encouraging people — around the world and in our country — to commit terrible acts of violence, often times as lone wolf actors,” Obama said. “And even as we work to prevent attacks, all of us — government, law enforcement, communities, faith leaders — need to work together to prevent people from falling victim to these hateful ideologies.”

As a reminder, President Obama will be addressing the nation tonight at 7 p.m. ET in an effort to reassure Americans that the J.V. team is being contained, will be degraded and destroyed, and not to worry, because more gun control. The major networks will be airing his speech from the Oval Office:

“He [President Obama] will reiterate his firm conviction that ISIL will be destroyed and that the United States will draw upon our values — our unwavering commitment to justice, equality and freedom — to prevail over terrorist groups that use violence to advance a destructive ideology.”

[Ed. note: Update made noting major networks will also be airing the president’s speech, not just CNN]

  1. Hello.

  2. Just CNN ?!?!? No one else is willing to give him the time, including BET and Univision?

  3. … the United States will draw upon our values — our unwavering commitment to justice, equality and freedom — to prevail over terrorist groups that use violence to advance a destructive ideology.

Well, our commitment to justice could do something about it…

  4. So the father believes Israel won’t exist in 2 years…but his son is the only radical one?

    Dejectedhead (81f962)

  5. I suspect he will also be suggesting that America’s dangerous infatuation with guns has made us an easy target and if we only would just all disarm, the terrorists would have a harder time. It worked so well in France.

  6. So the father believes Israel won’t exist in 2 years…but his son is the only radical one?

To be fair, if that happens, Iran won’t exist either and you won’t need a nightlight in neighboring countries.

Whatever happened to “truth”, as in “Truth, justice and the American way”?

  8. Dad is what the left considers to be a moderate muslim. He hasn’t fallen victim to “violent extremist ideologies”. Instead he’s just another muslim who prefers sharia to the Constitution, which is to say he supports a violent ideology, but it is not extreme. His understanding of politics is entirely consistent with community agitators like the delusional figure who pretends to be our president. Transformational change by mob action.

Is it permissible to wonder about his son, the Navy vet?

  9. I honestly don’t know if I can take watching him tonight.

  10. 8 pm EST not 7 pm. That’s 4 pm Pacific time.

It’s the first speech that President Obama gave in he Oval Office since 2010 when he announced the end of U.S. combat operations in Iraq. (He also did one before about the BP oil spill.) Other times he has spoken in the East room and the press briefing room. Like when he announced the raid and the death of bin Laden

The CBS Evening News mentioned the interview – with an Italian newspaper – it came across the way they told it like he was not making himself available but had spoken to this Italian newspaper earlier. Maybe the reporter did not make it clear he was a reporter.

CBS mentioned the same thing about his son being obsessed with Israel and about his supporting al Baghdadi. But not about his telling his son, not to talk about fighting Israel because in two yeasr Israel would not exist any more anyway because Russia, China and America would bring the Jews (back) to Ukraine (!!)

I heard something somewhere – maybe on NBC – about the father having seen the son with a gun, and getting annoyed with him, telling him “45 years in America” and he never got a gun. His son replied: “Your loss.”

  11. Oh, and finally we have an honest opinion, by the killer’s father! Now, you tell me that his mother and sister didn’t know! No way. And the sister’s husband was hooked up with CAIR within two hours.

    They knew.

    Patricia (5fc097)

  12. Dear Old Dad, in addition to treating see no evil Ma like a punching bag for 3 decades, hates THE JOOS. None of the Farooks have done a damn thing for this country, and sure we’ll find they are all on the dole in every way possible. And we should be okay with more of this?

    Bugg (fa64ec)

  13. Patricia, does the PLO still pay the relatives of suicide bombers? Perhaps baby doe will shortly be receiving a dowry, perhaps a few handfuls of gold coins smuggled across the Rio Grande. And that brings to mind the potential for life insurance proceeds to help fund baby doe’s upbringing and education. Do policies pay out for the deaths of such perpetrators?

    BobStewartatHome (a52abe)

  14. May we please all start demanding that Obama dismantle his secret service detail with all their “unreasonable” guns and travel without motorcade, Air Force 1, marine 1, and every bit of protection he currently deploys. No one should allow him to, say one thing about gun control without demanding that he do that immediately in response. This should be true of all politicians.

We are innocent and do not have to beg for our rights while the king hides behind a military arsenal.

does the PLO still pay the relatives of suicide bombers? yes it does, and also for those in prison. But it is probably not really paying the money but only acting as a money laundry for whoever really is putting up the money.

Do policies pay out for the deaths of such perpetrators?

I think these parents cared less about their daughter than the Rosenberg spies cared about their sons.

    Sammy Finkelman (4d9cfa)

  16. Yeah, narcisco. I was going to post that, too.

Mom (and in Islamic families Mom runs the household) is a died-in-the-wool Islamist. Daughter had to wear a burqa when visiting. This was not accident and there is a LOT more here than the administration will let on.

I’d start treating it as a coverup.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  17. Do policies pay out for the deaths of such perpetrators?

Double indemnity, but if it’s suicide not for the first six months of the policy.

    nk (dbc370)

  18. Shorter news analysis: “By God, he’s finally got a clue! This will make our job of covering for him so much easier!”

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  19. nk,

I’m pretty sure a lot of policies have exceptions for death while committing a crime.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  20. Holy Shi-ite, narciso.

Hey, seems like Trump is right again: the whole family knew.

    Patricia (5fc097)

  21. However, I have not been able to find any corroboration of that photo. So is it for real?

    Patricia (5fc097)

  22. You’re right, Kevin. And most will have a two-year suicide exception, not six months. I stand corrected.

    nk (dbc370)

Proof that the nutball was simply a chip off the old block.

Also proof of how out of touch with reality the lot of them are.

  25. with iran moving closer to getting the bomb, and the rest of the arab world scrambling to follow, who is the deluded one now?
