Radical Left: Maybe We Should Blame the Victims of the San Bernardino Shooting

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 3:14 pm

After Colorado Springs, Obama said we should not blame the victim:

“I think it’s fair to have a legitimate, honest debate about abortion,” Obama said. “I don’t think that’s something that is beyond the pale of our political discussion; I think it’s a serious, legitimate issue. How we talk about it – making sure that we’re talking about it factually, accurately, and not demonizing organizations like Planned Parenthood – I think is important.”

Obama will not say the same about San Bernardino, but will probably continue to go out of his way to suggest that we should not blame the religion of the perpetrators:

Obama initially said the shootings could have been terrorist-related or an incident of workplace violence. Two days later, in his weekend radio and Internet address, the president said called the attacks an “act of terror” and said it was “entirely possible that these two attackers were radicalized to commit this act of terror. And if so, it would underscore a threat we’ve been focused on for years – the danger of people succumbing to violent extremist ideologies.”

I don’t see anything there about not blaming the victim.

If he is sending a subliminal message that maybe it’s OK to blame the victim, that message was received loud and clear by this harpy:

They were two hate-filled, bigoted municipal employees interacting in one department. Now 13 innocent people are dead in unspeakable carnage.

One man spent his free time writing frightening, NRA-loving, hate-filled screeds on Facebook about the other’s religion.

The other man quietly stewed and brewed his bigotry, collecting the kind of arsenal that the Facebook poster would have envied.

What they didn’t realize is that except for their different religions they were in many ways similar men who even had the same job.

Except for the bit about Farook being a mass murderer and the other fella being a murder victim. Otherwise, totally similar!!

This type of attitude will be present in Obama’s little talk. It will just be masked better.

They hate us every bit as much as they hate the murdering terrorists. Maybe more.

  2. I hate to say I told you, but I told you this would happen:

    It’s the Christian Jew’s fault!
What’s the over-under on how long until a self-loathing leftist blames San Bernardino on the Christian Jew?

  8. And Loretta Lynch, our leftist schoolmarm scold, said she is also going to investigate why this particular site was chosen as a target.

    That’s right.

You know what that means: It’s the Joooooo! Who also is an evangelical Christian, to boot.

  10. San Bernardino, California, is named after Saint Bernardino of Siena (from Wikipedia)

Saint Bernardino of Siena, O.F.M. (also known as Bernardine; 8 September 1380 – 20 May 1444) was an Italian priest, Franciscan missionary, and is a Catholic saint. He is known in the Roman Catholic Church as “the Apostle of Italy” for his efforts to revive the country’s Catholic faith during the 15th century. His preaching was frequently directed against gambling, witchcraft, sodomy and usury – particularly as practiced by Jews…

Bernardino is particularly regarded today as being a “major protagonist of Christian anti-semitism”. He called for Jews to be isolated from the wider communities in which they lived; blaming the poverty of local Christians on Jewish usury. His audiences often used his words to reinforce actions against Jews, and his preaching left a legacy of resentment on the part of Jews…

In Siena he preached a full sermon against sodomy (including homosexuality) in 1425 and then 1427. Over time his teachings helped mould public sentiment and dispel indifference over controlling sodomy more vigorously. Everything unpredictable or calamitous in human experience he attributed to sodomy, including floods and the plague. As well as linking sodomy to local population decline.

  12. He is NOT a Jew. He posted that he was not the day before he died but for someone to think he was a Jew was great Compliment.

    https://www.facebook.com/nicholas.thalasinos/posts/10206977481688403

He called himself a Noahide, at least using that for awhile as his online name to make posts on a blog in 2014, although he wasn’t really that either. He made only 8 posts. Two years ago he joined some kind of Jewish Christian church. I don’t know what it really is.

He used to go around sometimes wearing a red yarmulke, a Tallis and a large Mogen Dovid, and was very pro-Israel. He also had a striped blue and white tie.

He used to fight online with various characters and unfollow them on Facebook.

He had an argument with Syed after the Paris attacks that was overheard by someone because she caught him in the middle of the argument.

They argued about Israel and they argued about Islam.

Syed told Nicholas Thalasinos that Islam was a peaceful religion – or rather refused to agree with him it was not.

Kuuleme Stephens told the Associated Press she happened to call 52-year-old Nicholas Thalasinos while he was at work and having a discussion with Syed Farook.

Thalasinos identified Farook by name and told her Farook believed Islam was a peaceful religion.

She added that Farook said Americans don’t understand Islam.

His friend, Kuuleme Stephens, told The Associated Press that she called him while he was working with Farook, and that he brought her into their debate, loudly declaring that Farook “doesn’t agree that Islam is not a peaceful religion.”

She said she heard Farook reply that Americans don’t understand Islam and Thalasinos say, “I don’t know how to talk with him.”

Nicholas Thalasinos was not afraid of or worried about him, although he was maybe concerned a litle bit about some other people online. Thalasinos had helped train him.

  13. They hate us every bit as much as they hate the murdering
    terrorists hate us.

FTFY, Pat. The fundamental transformation of America wasn’t going fast enough for Obama and
the rabidly anti-American, anti-Western progressive left. So with the Syrian refugees they’ll be replenishing what has become their armed wing, to speed things along. This is an alliance, make no mistake.

Every time one of these jihadis explodes, they will blame the victim, America. And they will insist it is America that must change.

We have observed, correctly, that the Islamic terrorists hate us for our freedoms. But then so does the rabid anti-American progressive left. They’ve been trying to get rid of those freedoms for years. They think the key is to unleash Muslim terrorists on us, and insist we get rid of the
First, Second, and Fifth Amendments. To start.

They’ll scream about racism, the War on Women, and rape culture to get rid of the rest.

The progressive left is enlisting the jihadis into a good cop/bad cop style routine to browbeat America into submission. Except there are no good cops in this particular jailhouse role play. Just the extremely bad cops in the form of Islamic terrorists, and the ugly, only-slightly-less-bad cops in the form of the anti-American leftists for whom the terrorists don’t actually exist. Just sweet, peaceful Muslims and mean, nasty Americans and their imperialism, colonialism, militarism, capitalism, and gun culture causing all the trouble in the world.

It looks like Obama is finally going to earn that down payment the hate-America-first scandi socialists gave him in the form of that Nobel Peace Prize.

  14. Do they really hate the terrorists?

I don’t think so, if they do it certainly doesn’t show. Their unrestrained hatred seems to be directed at anyone or anything that represents truth, justice, and the American way.

    With a passion!

Back when Obama was illegally restructuring Chrysler’s debt entirely outside existing
bankruptcy laws, secured bondholders sued in federal court to try to enforce their rights to
be paid first, as the law required, ahead of Obama’s cronies in the UAW.

Obama’s henchmen called these secured bondhlders terrorists.

Now in the wake of the San Bernardino massacre you can bet they hate the terrorists. And
by that I mean NRA members and Republicans.

  18. The chip would more likely be on the other shoulder. I’ve run into a couple of Greeks, like the late Mr. Thalasinos, who fell victim to weird evangelical cults. They have the zealotry of the new convert, and they take it personally when you tell them you already have your religion and they should go peddle their pamphlets elsewhere. And no matter what religion you are, you cannot help but have contempt for apostates who dishonored the memory of the ancestors by joining some heretical cult that no real religion respects, and it leaks through. The late Mr. Thalasinos might have had a bigger chip on his shoulder than the late Mr. Farook if he was rebuffed in his evangelizing, even gently rebuffed.

    nk (dbc370)

  19. perhaps, NK but what did the other 13 people did to provoke him,

    narciso (732bc0)

  20. No, I’m saying that Thalasinos did NOT provoke Farook. Farook’s “elusive motive” was something entirely different. I’m saying that if anybody was going to be “provoked”, it was more likely to be the evangelical.

How about some sources? That someone on the left thinks the “key” is to unleash terrorism upon ourselves is preposterous. This is either a deranged fiction or an outright lie.

  25. it’s more accurate to say, they don’t see the salafi as a threat, unlike say the NRA,

  27. now they did this in Awlaki’s former mosque, which adds to the irony,

    narciso (732bc0)

  28. that message was received loud and clear by this harpy:

Linda Stasi creates a lot of moral equivalency between the 2 jihadists and a conservative American (and former Jew) who didn’t pull his punches about the looniness and idiocy of the left and Islamofascism, but pretends — in her leftwing brain — that she isn’t implying the rightwinger therefore triggered the violence and somehow deserves as much blame as the jihadists do.

They say a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged. Stasi probably is so moronically of the left, she could be mugged (quite literally) by a jihadist over and over again and she’ll merely tear up and whimper.

    Mark (f713e4)

  29. @28, liberal ideology is nothing if not internally contradictory (another point leftist ideology has in common with Islam). On the one hand they have been indoctrinated to believe that Islam was once this towering beacon of science, the arts, religious tolerance, and intellectual freedom, vastly superior to backwards, dark age Europe.

On the other hand, they have also been indoctrinated to believe Islam is the religion of the black and the brown and the dispossessed. Victims of White racism.

Both ridiculous conclusions are a result of the cultural Marxist system of education that has dominated in the academy since the late 1960s. In fact you can’t call it a system of education but of indoctrination. It is designed purely to lead students to believe that Western civilization in general, and the United States in particular, is uniquely evil.

So the fact that Islam is an ideology that demands wars of aggression and the humiliation of any conquered people who are allowed to survive entirely independently of anything we might do or not do to Muslims has to be buried. They’re victims of the white European Xtofascist heteronormative patriarchy, dammit, and that means like a rape accuser they’re always right.

This is why the rabid, hate-filled, anti-American progs can’t allow Ayaan Hirsi Ali to speak on campus. Because the truth, as they are fond of saying over at Power Line, is inimical to their purpose. The progs are brainwashing little girls to believe that no women suffer from a rape culture worse than the one that exists on an American liberal arts campus. Hearing from someone who actually lived in a rape culture where rape victims are stoned to death for “adultery,” someone who suffered genital mutilation no doubt by having her clitoris sawed off with a shard of broken glass as is common in Somalia, might cause the campus crybullies pause. And hurt attendance at the next slut walk.

So Ms. Stasi (appropriately named after the Communist DDR secret police) has to blame someone besides the poor, oppressed, brown Muslims who understandably lashed out at their white, western oppressor. Even if they have to make up that oppressor out of whole cloth.

Their fragile mentalities require them to cling to their delusions no matter what.

And with the influx of Syrian refugees, Obama and the rest of their indoctrinators will be depending on that reflex to advance the agenda.
