San Bernardino Female Terrorist Passed DHS Screening
[guest post by JVW]
This is not yet fully confirmed (an important caveat), but it would appear that Tashfeen Malik passed her Department of Homeland Security counterterrorism screening last year when she arrived in this country as the bride of Sayed Farook.
NEW: Shooting suspect Tashfeen Malik passed DHS counterterrorism screening as part of her vetting for K-1 visa, @margbrennan reports.
— CBS News (@CBSNews) December 3, 2015
Not to worry, says the White House, the planned screening process for the newly-arrived “Syrian” “refugees” (each word deserves its own set of incredulity quotation marks) is far more strict and comprehensive than the screening process for spouses. And when has the federal government ever overstated its dedication to keeping us safe or the Obama Administration ever knowingly lied to us?

UPDATE x2 BY PATTERICO: As Allahpundit says: “This is what I get for trusting ABC.”
Correction (Dec. 5): An earlier version of this report said Tashfeen provided a nonexistent address to U.S. officials when she applied for a fiance visa. Local residents say the version of the address provided is not precise, but the family does own a house in the neighborhood.
As usual, everything the media says is suspect.
But really, this whole situation just screams out for gun control.
JVW (d60453) — 12/4/2015 @ 3:36 pmThis reminds me of the president’s snotty “widows and orphans” smear against Republican leaders very doubtful about the efficacy of vetting Syrian refugees. Here we have a woman, and a young mother, who was so compelled by her *calling*, that she was more than willing to leave her baby behind to become orphaned, knowing that she would likely be killed in the process of doing what she no doubt considered the greater good.

This was a press release the WH put out on what became Benghazi Eve, comforting Americans around the world that the Bamster was all over the anniversary of 9/11 and that he and his administration had spared no effort, had left no rock unturned, done everything humanly possible to evaluate threats and to take “specific measures” to respond to them both at home and abroad.
The next day four Americans were dead. The help they expected never came even though it was only an hour and a half flying time away.
It turns out that the Resident Assistant in Chief and his Freshman Dorm Administration’s idea of doing “everything possible to protect the American people, both at home and abroad” consisted of doing diddly squat besides hosting a conference call and putting out a press release.

My screening process includes range time at least twice a month and firing between 25 and 50 rounds with various firearms each time. I screen the targets for hits to center mass after each magazine.
My screening process now includes keeping an eye out for suspicious females as well as males. Pretty soon, we’ll have to be worried about toddlers wearing suicide vests and brandishing knives.

Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 12/5/2015 @ 6:38 amKevin M 14,
This NY Times’ editorial is obviously supporting Obama’s gun control plans, but it goes deeper than that. They know Obama wants to issue executive orders implementing more gun control, but Obama and the NY Times also realize the orders can be rescinded by the next President or by the courts.
I think when they talk about gun control over and over again, their goal is to increase the chance that some conservative or Tea Party member or a random redneck will get angry and do something violent with a gun. They are baiting us and want a violent response.
Their ultimate goal is to equate these violent extremist ideologies, thus claiming that Muslim terrorists are no different than right-wing terrorists. They want to win by demonizing conservatives because they can’t win the actual issue.
DRJ (15874d) — 12/5/2015 @ 6:39 amIf so, then we will see Obama talking a lot about the dangers of violent extremists ideologies, but he won’t be thinking about Muslims when he says it. He will be thinking about consefvatives. He will be thinking about us.

I might have believed that at one time but watching Palestinian women celebrate the suicide bombing by their children has caused me to doubt anything will make them hesitate. Theirs is a death cult religion.
I am willing to believe there is a segment of Muslims who wish only a middle class life and to be left alone. Unfortunately, there is a sizable minority, maybe 25% or more, who support what the radicals are doing. The poisoned jellybean analogy works for me.

JVW (d60453) — 12/5/2015 @ 11:51 amObama today in his radio address pushes the theme that they are victims, not evil terrorists:
“It is entirely possible that these two attackers were radicalized to commit this act of terror. And if so, it would underscore a threat we’ve been focused on for years—the danger of people succumbing to violent extremist ideologies. We know that ISIL and other terrorist groups are actively encouraging people—around the world and in our country—to commit terrible acts of violence, often times as lone wolf actors. And even as we work to prevent attacks, all of us—government, law enforcement, communities, faith leaders—need to work together to prevent people from falling victim to these hateful ideologies.”

Sammy Finkelman (4d9cfa) — 12/5/2015 @ 6:54 pmThere’s something peculiar about this whole thing:
Everything about the background of these two says Original al Qaeda ® ™, yet at the end, she swears allegiance to ISIS, and the attack itself also resembles what ISIS/ISIL/Daesh/IS/Islamic State/”the” Islamic State/Whatchamacallit is doing right now.
(al Qaeda has lately taken to distinguishing itself from ISIS by saying that they do not kill Moslems. Back in 2012 or so, Zawahiri tried to order Baghdadi to stop doing things that give al Qaeda very bad publicity, like videotaped executions or Moslems as victims, because it was counter-productive and causing very bad repercussions for al Qaeda, and that was part of the reason for the split. In hostage type attacks, which al Qaeda endorses, the hostages now are asked if they are Moslems, and if they say yes, asked to recite something in Arabic that all Moslems should know. The Shabab, which Farook was in contact with, does this. But in this attack in San Bernadino, one of the people shot was the wife of the program director of the mosque that Syed Rizwan Farook attended in Riverside from 2012 to 2014 Shooting people at random cannot be guaranteed to hit only non-Moslems, of course. This kind of atack also is typical of what ISIS has started doing in the last year (prior to that they were not doing terrorist attacks outside their zone of control.)
What this means is that either the loyalty pledge to ISIS was made to throw off the trail, or (in the event this was not intended to be discovered, and was only for her) that neither al Qaeda nor ISIS did it, but some organization that supports both of them. Their superiors, you miht say. It is typpical for Islamic terrorist organizations to splinter. Sort of like spltting pairs in blackjack. Different tactics can be tried, and if something fails, it doesn’t destroy everything.
Sammy Finkelman (4d9cfa) — 12/5/2015 @ 7:16 pm59. What this means is that the address was changed so that something bad about would not be retrieved in a text search of a database.
