The “Hillary Testifies at Benghazi Hearing” Drinking Game

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:11 am

The rules:

Drink when Hillary claims Republicans have admitted this is a partisan witch hunt.

The End.

I mean, we could have more rules (drink when she lies, drink when she cackles, drink when she says what difference at this point does it make), but I think the one rule is plenty, don’t you?

Now here’s my personal twist, which I would order if I were King. Split screen. On the left is poor victim Hillary. On the right is Kevin McCarthy, tied to a chair, forced to play this drinking game. Hillary whines about partisanship? McCarthy does a shot. Oh, but I’m not done. After McCarthy passes out from alcohol poisoning in the first five minutes or so, an aide continues to pour shots down his throat each time Hillary whines about what he said.

Once the testimony is done, McCarthy takes center screen, and a hand-lettered sign is placed in front of his slumped and drooling form. The sign says: “Don’t Say Stupid Things.”

Exeunt omnes as the lights slowly dim.

That’s the only way you could get me to watch this thing.

  1. Given that Hillary is the target, maybe it’s right to call this a “witch” hunt after all.

Elijah Cummings set the tone for Democrat committee members: attack Chairman Trey Gowdy, claim other committees have already investigated Benghazi and found no fault with either Hillary Clinton or the Obama Administration, identify the current investigation as an underhanded effort to derail Clinton’s presidential campaign.

  10. claim other committees have already investigated Benghazi and found no fault with either Hillary Clinton or the Obama Administration

Fault has left the building. She had her own private server in her house, so she could scrub the record clean of unforeseen incriminations as they popped up.

It’s not a question of whether she is a felon. Guilty is the only verdict possible. The only question is how many years in the Federal Pen she would serve, if we had rule of law.

My comment was intended to promote GOP party unity in order to defeat Hillary and as many Democrat office seekers as possible. Do you share that objective? And if so, will you support the GOP nominee?

Where do you get this crap from, Kevin M? First of all nobody is advocating gun confiscation on the Republican side, Nobody! And so far you’re the only person I’ve heard mention nationalizing gas stations. I thought “sticking it to the man” was a black thing, so what the hell are you referring to? Finally, if getting rid if all those extra brown people means enforcing our laws I’m all for it. With 94 million Americans, of all colors, out of the labor force we don’t need any aliens here taking jobs, legal or illegal regardless of what color they are. Period. Matter of fact every one of your talking points from gun confiscation to racial motivations come right out of the leftist/socialist democrat handbook. Republicans believe in an armed citizenry, don’t want to “stick it” to anybody and couldn’t care less about the color of a person’s skin as long as they obey the law. Who’s side are you on?

You’re dead wrong about gun control, and it is about careful thought, and politics. And, you’re right about sticking it to the GOPe – they’ve been stabbing conservatives in the back for so long and with such regularity they (and you) take it as an established right – noblesse oblige. So many opportunities are allowed to slip away. for example, Clinton described blow – by – blow, the actions she took with respect to the Tunisia protests. Then she was asked to give a similar account with regard to Banghazi – But instead of letting her respond at that point, the questioner added a comment that gave Clinton the opportunity to change the subject, in effect, denying everyone the details of her action/inaction on the night in question. That was unforgivable in my opinion!

I don’t know what you mean by “get away with it.” It isn’t like a Congressional committee has arrest powers. They could never hold her accountable in any meaningful way now that she’s left office.

Jim Jordan did a good job the fact that she told her family and the Egyptian PM with absolute certainty that AQ affiliates conducted the Benghazi attack and the video had nothing to do with it I thought was huge. Whether or not that gains any traction with the voters, who are the only ones who can hold her accountable, is another question. But it’s clear she knew the video story was a lie.

As far as the GOPe sabotaging the Benghazi committee, it couldn’t be more obvious that Rep. Hanna of New York did so deliberately. McCarthy, not so much. McCarthy has never struck me as the sharpest knife in the drawer, and no great communicator. It’s entirely possible that he just screwed up, as the Benghazi committee wasn’t started to get Clinton but you’d have to be a fool not to know that it would effect politics. Actually, these hearings should have an effect on the careers of all involved. So career bureaucrats should have been fired, and politicians should suffer the effects on their careers as well.

But that weasel Hanna went out of his way to smear the committee. And why not? He’s got to get reelected in New York, and so sticking up for Clinton is no doubt popular in his district.

    Bugg (fa64ec) — 10/22/2015 @ 2:51 pm

Actually the question is what was Obama doing in the days and weeks leading up to the anniversary of 9/11. Except issue a press release the night before the anniversary.

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/09/10/readout-president-s-meeting-senior-administration-officials-our-prepared

As is typical for this administration they clearly did nothing but talk. If they could have responded anywhere in the world it would have been in Libya which is as close to major NATO bases as you can get without actually being in NATO. And if there was anywhere in the world they should have been prepared to respond on the anniversary of 9/11 then North Africa would have been at least tied for first.

So I would have grilled Hillary! on why she took no action to coordinate with other agencies, specifically DoD, to prepare for contingencies on the anniversary of 9/11.

  109. Whether or not that gains any traction with the voters, who are the only ones who can hold her accountable, is another question.

I um… held accountable is not the same as losing an election. One involves a consolation speech and a talk show gig on MSNBC, the other involves clanking cell doors, prison food, and maybe a shanking in the common area.

I would have asked her whose idea it was to appoint a queer as ambassador to a radically Islamic state in turmoil?

Can a person say queer on CSPAN? And if it’s not acceptable on CSPAN, why would anyone think the Libyans would be cool with it?

Most if not all Democratic special interest groups, and perhaps a majority of rank-and-file Democrats as well, are voting for her precisely because she is a congenital liar. Lying is the best way to achieve what they want; the ends always justify the means.

They have a track record. For instance if you look at how gay marriage advocates achieved their goal they had to lie at every step of the way. In Kali in the early 2000s, shortly after the Lawrence decision, gay marriage advocates denied being gay marriage advocates. They said all they wanted were civil unions and it was just right-wing crazy talk to say they were after gay marriage.

But of course gay marriage advocates had been stating gay marriage was their goal for the previous 20 years. In books, articles, and at meetings which they figured the public didn’t know about and couldn’t be bothered to find out about. So they could lie in public. And look at where we are today.

If open borders advocates were open and up front about their real objectives resistance to “immigration reform” would be a lot higher.

Or just take the example of Dingy Harry Reid. He lied about Mitt Romney and his taxes. He knew, when he was lying about him from the Senate floor that Romney had paid his taxes. And he’s proud of the fact his lies worked.

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/harry-reid-is-proud-he-lied-about-mitt-romneys-taxes/article/2562300

Harry Reid, D-Nev. has no regrets about his 2012 claims that then presidential candidate Mitt Romney paid no taxes for 10 years.

The outgoing Senate Minority Leader even bragged to CNN that the comments, which had been described as McCarthyism, helped keep Romney from winning the election.

“They can call it whatever they want. Romney didn’t win did he?” Reid said during a wide-ranging interview…

These people think only suckers are constrained by the truth. And by “these people” I’m talking about people from the top to the bottom of the entire Democratic party. Maybe not all, but I’ve debated ordinary Democrats on issues such as gun control. When I finally boxed them in and demonstrated nothing the gun control side was true I would get some variant of, “So what? If people are stupid enough to fall for these arguments why shouldn’t we use them?” They could care less if they were trafficking in lies.

So that’s why so many people will vote for her. Whether you can call them thinking people or not I’ll leave up to you.

  115. papertiger @110, whether you like it or not, costing Hillary! an election is the only amount of accountability this committee’s efforts could possibly achieve.

I wish they had done a better job today. She tried to parse words like her husband, but she’s nowhere near as good at it. She was able to weasel out of the message she sent to the Libyan PM and say she was merely acknowledging AQ’s affiliate Ansar Al Sharia claim that they had conducted the attack. And that does fit with her DoS press release, as well as her testimony today that she wasn’t assigning a motive for the attack just that “some” had suggested the video as justification for the attack.

But it didn’t end there. She couldn’t parse her emails to Chelsea (who used the pseudonym in good Clinton fashion to evade FOIA requests and investigations into her crimes) or the Egyptian PM because she said in no uncertain terms that Ansar Al Sharia had conducted the attacks. And to the PM she said the attack had nothing to do with the video.

Yet when she met the caskets and the families of those killed she repeatedly referenced the video, and promised to bring the filmmaker to justice. So she just lied to their faces.

I would have liked to see one of the GOP reps make her square that circle; she claims today that she wasn’t saying the video was the motive for the Benghazi attack, yet she told the grieving families she’d bring the filmmaker to justice. If the attack had nothing to do with the video, then jailing him is not justice.

As far as putting Hillary! in prison that is beyond the power of a Congressional committee. Only the FBI and DoJ can put her in prison for violating the Espionage Act. I know, I know, figure the odds. But consider Obama’s recent stupid statements absolving Hillary! of compromising national security. The FBI is apparently livid that they are being painted as a political tool. They are likely to defend their integrity and independence and increase their efforts to build a case against Hillary! Such things have happened before. Obama has made stupid statements about how the military needs to punish those accused of sexual assault more harshly then they had been doing. And because Obama shot his mouth off a Navy judge dismissed the cases of at least two sailors who were about to go on trial for sexual assault. The judge ruled that Prom Queen’s statements amounted to undo command influence. Just like Obama’s statements absolving Hillary! of guilt in emailgate, the judge ruled that those statements amounted to marching orders from the President to people who worked in the executive branch as to what what decisions they were supposed to make. Therefore, those sailors couldn’t get a fair trial.

The FBI agents investigating Hillary! may just take a similar course of action, and if Obama meant to give them signals about what he wanted to see happen that may just backfire. As Obama has backfired before.

Then it would be up to the DoJ to make the obviously politicized decision.

    Steve57 (9b30eb)

  116. Tossing the filmmaker into the clink on a phony charge is both a civil rights violation and an outrageous abuse of the legal system for political expediency. Politicians who cover their asses by violating the 1st Amendment rights of others are criminals by definition and unfit to hold office.

Tell that to the guys who were ordered to stand down. You know, the ones who were willing to risk their lives trying to rescue fellow Americans under attack by Islamic terrorists. Tell them that, and then you better run like hell.

CIA Contractors: We Were Told To Stand Down Three Times

In a new firsthand account of the 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, five former U.S. Special Forces fighters say they were told to stand down and wait for Libya militia allies to take care of the problem.

Substantial Libyan help never arrived, and when the American commandos ignored the order and intervened anyway, it was too late to save the lives of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and an American technician, they say in “13 Hours,” a book scheduled for release next week and obtained by The New York Times…
