Biden to Announce Today? – Updated

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:23 am

With all his recent shots at Hillary!, it seems pretty clear that he’s going to run. Presumably he wouldn’t wait until Friday to announce — and he’s running out of time, with looming deadlines to qualify for the ballot in several states. I think it’s today or tomorrow.

By the way, he’s now rewriting history on whether he told Obama to launch the Bin Laden raid.

At an event honoring former Vice President Walter Mondale, Biden said he had privately advised the President to pursue the raid on bin Laden’s compound after initially advising a more cautious approach at a Cabinet meeting.

“We walked out of the room and walked upstairs,” Biden said. “I told him my opinion: I thought he should go, but to follow his own instincts.”

The new account is a significant departure from what he said at a Democratic retreat in January 2012.

“Mr. President, my suggestion is, ‘Don’t go,'” Biden said, according to an ABC News report from that time.

Finally! Authen . . . ticity?

UPDATE – Slow Joe ain’t gonna go. When I saw that it was going to be from the White House, and Obama was going to be there, it seemed clear to me that he wasn’t going to announce he was running.  His speech wasn’t a traditional “I am not running” speech. As I saw elsewhere, it seemed more like an “in case of emergency, break glass” speech.

  5. Old Turkey Neck Biden is out tellin’ whoppers again. Back when the raid on bin Laden was in the works, Valerie Jarrett kept putting the kibosh on operations – 2 or 3 times she called it off. It wasn’t till Obama was out playing golf and Jarrett was conveniently out of the loop the ‘go’ signal was sent.

Remember the photo shop picture of little Obama in the Situation Room dressed in his golf jacket while others in the room were in their office clothes? Obama was stuck with a fait accompli and had no choice but to pretend he was on-board all along. It was that or acknowledge he’d been blindsided by his own people.

Old Turkey Neck might have supported the raid, I don’t know if he did or not, but I don’t believe he ever encouraged Obama to approve it. He ain’t got the stones.

Sanders is content with having forced Hillary! leftward, his people will head up the drafting of the party platform, and he will be the keynote speaker at the convention. O’Malley will be considered for the VP slot, but if Biden has to step in as the party nominee then VP will go to a woman or a minority.

The only halfway real moment of the Dem debate was when Webb pointed out that none of Bernie’s stupid promises are going to see the light of day in Congress. 36. I confess — not for the first time — that I am unreasonably and passionately wedded to a particular conspiracy theory: For some time, I’ve been convinced that Obama, the pettiest of Presidents, was plotting with Biden to pull the rug out from Hillary at exactly the most strategic moment, which I calculated would be immediately after her Benghazi hearing testimony. That’s when I thought Obama would nod to the DoJ, they’d roll out the indictment of Hillary (more in sadness than in anger, doncha know, but charging her for the same sorts of intelligence crimes for which Gen. Patraeus pleaded guilty), and then Biden would drop into the race, deus ex machina, to save the Democratic Party from the nefarious Republicans.

    So today’s announcement definitely wrong-footed me. 😀

I’d like to think that this is really just setting Hillary up for the bigger fall with the indictment. But today’s public signal will effectively release a lot of traditional Democratic donors and superdelegates to do that which they’d do without Biden in the race, and they’re about to either hug Hillary or Sanders. (Most of them, noses held and somewhat worried, Hillary, I strongly suspect.)

So I think Slow Joe’s really closed the door.

And I’ve come round to the conclusion that our host came to some days or weeks ago — the fix is in, and Hillary’s not going to be indicted, even if Obama still doesn’t much like her. Remember, she’s only ever been “likable enough” by his metrics. But apparently that’s enough, given that she’s a fellow Democrat.

In this case, HC was delighted that the challenge was from BS as he never had a chance. As for Biden, he served a dual role. First, he helped suck out any financial support for another candidate and, second, he was an insurance policy for the DNC just in case HC got indicted or similar.

Until Obama and his Chicago crime syndicate moved into the White House the Clinton administration was the most corrupt administration in US history. And Hillary! was behind most of it.

Recall the Clinton’s first scandal; Travelgate. By every account I ever heard Hillary! was behind that move. She was certainly much more engaged than Billy Jeff. She wanted to fire the travel office staff so she could put Clinton cronies in there, who would in turn direct WH travel business of other Clinton cronies. She could have directed Billy Jeff to fire those people. They’re at will employees; any new President can fire those staffers. No President had done it for 30 years, but they could have done it. And they didn’t need cause.

But Hillary! is so venal and just plain evil she who can not be criticized had to invent a reason as apparently the WH press corps liked those people in the travel office; after all, they had been arranging charters for the WH press corps longer than most of those reporters had been out of diapers and clearly the staff in the travel office did a good job for them.

So had the WH spokesweasels announce they had been fired for criminal misconduct, and they trumped up embezzlement charges against the director of the travel office, Billy Dale. The tried to ruin the man’s life, and came very close to sending him to federal prison, all so Hillary! could engage in the kind of corruption she had enjoyed as first lady of Arkansas.

Now it didn’t work out as planned, the WH caught hell for the move (nobody in Little Rock treated them that way) and it turned out that Hillary! had lied to investigators about her role in the atrocity. And if I recall correctly WH employees had lied to investigators about her role to cover it up.

All in all, it was probably the most instructive of the Clinton scandals. Hillary! always returns to form. She was just as grasping, greedy, power hungry, ruthless, dishonest, and criminal as Senator and later as Secretary of State.

Oh, and don’t forget that Travelgate led to Filegate. The Clinton crime family attempted to illegally and unethically gain access to Billy Dale’s FBI file to get dirt on him. And it turned out that they had illegally gained access to the FBI background investigation files on other current and former WH staffers.

Which makes me suspect that they may very well have dirt on Obama. I can’t but forget that “chance” encounter Billy Jeff and the Prom Queen had on the golf course this past summer. It was just as emailgate was heating up, especially with the IGs informing Congress that she had TS codeword material on her homebrew server. Naturally that photo op was intended to send a message to the investigators, as was his recent comment about how her homebrew system did not harm national security, as to what conclusions they’re supposed to draw when they finally wrap things up.

I also see Billy Jeff’s hand behind Biden’s decision not to run. I think he told Obama to keep his boy on his leash and out of the race. Or else. That was the deal they had made back when Hillary! became Obama’s Secretary of State. She’d throw here support behind Obama, help him get reelected, and then Tiger Beat would support Hillary! this time around.

Prom Queen never keeps those kinds of promises. He is always asking for a concession at that immediate moment in time, in exchange for an I.O.U. that he never plans on making good on. It appears Billy Jeff has some leverage to hold President Selfie to this one, though.

I recall a retired Arkansas state supreme court justice commenting that the evidence of the Clinton’s criminality is so overwhelming that 90% of people on death row have been sent there on less. But none of the investigations into their racketeering has ever gone anywhere. That’s what happens when you own judges, prosecutors, and later the Attorney General of the United States.

So I fear the investigation into HIllary!’s latet series of won’t go anywhere, either. But we don’t need an investigation to know Hillary! broke the law. We have the physical evidence as well as her own statements that establish that committed all the essential elements of at least one criminal statute. It’s playing out right in public, before our eyes. She violated the espionage act; it’s beyond question.

She should have been sent to prison years ago. Yet the odds are almost certain now that democrats will choose this vile, despicable waste of human flesh as their nominee. And, enough voters may put her back in the WH.

I forget who said it first, but this is a really stupid time to be alive.
