City Attorney Confirms: Legal To Appoint Illegal Immigrants To Adivsory Boards

In a brazen move, a city in Southern California will be the first in the state to name two illegal immigrants as commissioners:

Huntington Park may become the first city in California to appoint two undocumented immigrants as commissioners on city advisory boards, a lawmaker confirms.

City Councilman Jhonny Pineda has picked Francisco Medina to join the health and education commission and Julian Zatarain for the parks and recreation commission.

The 32-year-old lawmaker told CBSLA online producer Deborah Meron that he promised voters while running for office that he would create more opportunities for undocumented residents.

“Huntington Park is a city of opportunity and a city of hope for all individuals regardless of socioeconomic status, race, creed, or in this case, citizenship,” the councilman said in a statement. “Both these gentlemen have accomplished a great deal for the city. For that, on behalf of the city council, mayor, and our city, I want to say thank you to them both and I am confident they will do an excellent job on their commission posts.”

Pineda, ever mindful of following the law, sought confirmation from the city attorney that the appointments were permissible. He was assured that “[t]here’s nothing that requires a commissioner to be a registered voter, a documented citizen or even a resident, which technically means someone here without legal residency can serve.”

And from another official equally concerned with following the law, former Huntington Park mayor, Ric Loya, commented:

“Everybody can be involved in government, as long as it’s done legally,” he said.

And they don’t even bat an eye.

  1. Hello.

  3. In a lawful society, ICE would deport them.

  4. Well, he’s probably right, it is legal. I don’t see a contradiction between a councillor being concerned that the city should not break the law and his not caring about someone else having broken it. If the waste impacts the air movement device it may fall on these two commissioners, but not on the city, or (more importantly) on him.

  5. In a lawful society, ICE would deport them.

They could probably serve as commissioners from their home country, via Skype. Or, with the border as porous as it is, they could probably manage to come back for meetings.

    Milhouse (a04cc3)

  6. If they came back for meetings, they’d hopefully have the proper documentation for being present in the country at least.

    Dejectedhead (ec3741)

  7. Why would they have that? If the border is as porous as news reports suggest, then if they were deported they could just come back whenever and as often as they liked.

  8. The California Bar admitted an illegal alien as an officer of the court. We are way past “sanctuary.”

I am waiting until an illegal alien starts notarizing mortgages for some real fun to start.

  10. re #9: I do believe that is the point.
still, have to wonder how people who admit and acknowledge that they are illegal residents are not subject to automatic detention and repatriation to their last country of legal residence.
Does the concept of citizens arrest apply here?

  11. It’s time for the people who pay the bills and still get screwed to start
withdrawing from a culture that takes their money but then disenfranchises
them by flooding the locality with illegals.

This scam will only work as long as the working class people continue to
    allow it.

They can’t continue this crap if they no longer have the money to pay for it.

Time to leave the insanity behind. Better to live in poverty elsewhere than be
a wage slave to illegals and they’re enablers.

  12. What we’re seeing all over the country is an upside coup d’etat. Instead of
group seizing the reins of power at the top, they’re invading the country and
being given citizenship and allowed to act as if they’re legally here.

WE ARE BEING INVADED AND NO ONE WANTS TO ADMIT IT.

They’ve even started to hire illegals a police. Soon you will be getting stopped
and arrested by someone who has no right to be here.

Think that can’t happen? Think again.

  15. Does the concept of citizens arrest apply here?

No, it doesn’t. You only have the right to arrest someone you have personally seen committing a crime.

    Milhouse (a04cc3)

  16. aren’t illegal residents allowed to join the Armed Forces?

I don’t think so. I see legal aliens applying to get citizenship after a term of service in good standing. They have documentation of their legal status.

    Mike K (90dfdc)

  17. Per President Barack Obama’s directive last fall, the U.S. Army is enlisting illegal aliens who are so called “Dreamers” into its ranks.

plus there’s bonus points for dreamer trannies

  19. Yes, definitely. That’s how we can be sure they’re not Muslims.

    nk (dbc370)

  20. It shouldn’t matter if they’re moslems or not. They shouldn’t be here to begin with.

  22. Peacetime army problems. During Vietnam, green cards had to register for the draft. During the Civil War, Irishmen got off the boat and went straight into the Union army. They were even a paid a $50.00 enlistment bonus.

    nk (dbc370)

  23. What would be interesting is hearing the screeches and the howls if the Feds went out and rounded up the two and deported them. I suspect that would be the last of the illegals appointed.

  24. And they don’t even bat an eye.

There’s the phrase “slouching towards Gomorrah” to characterize a society eroded by cultural decline and the various manifestations thereof. In this instance, “slouching towards Mexico” is applicable.

  26. Our elected moonbats have no clue what “citizenship” is supposed to mean, do they?

    Or why countries have “borders”.

Damn glad I’m old. Maybe I’ll kick off before Literal Hell breaks loose.

  27. You want to see the wall built in record time? Let illegals run for public office and open up a certain amount of jobs in the MSM to illegals only. It’s only fair, isn’t it?
