Rave Review of Clinton CNN Interview: Desperate and Inauthentic

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:30 am

Democrats think Republicans can’t see media bias unless Republicans are the target. Oh, we can see it. We’re used to seeing it. And on those rare occasions when the bias is directed against a Democrat? I’m not gonna lie. It’s sweet payback.

This piece by Lloyd Grove at The Daily Beast regarding Hillary’s CNN interview is just delightful from start to finish. Here’s a taste:

Widening her eyes and nodding at times like a bobblehead doll—occasionally emitting a percussive laugh—Clinton dodged one policy question after another, pretended Sanders barely exists, and proclaimed her “total respect” for the pesky press—the same press that her campaign aides actually lassoed with ropes in the middle of a New Hampshire street in order to keep them away during a July 4th parade.

The only glitch was calling the softball interview “tough but eminently fair.” Otherwise, you can tell Grove hates Clinton, and it’s fun to read how much.

The candidate was, by turns, self-justifying and pugnacious, and occasionally just plain inauthentic, as she complained about her and her husband’s victimization by right-wingers and scandalous book authors—the correct people to blame, in her view, for the fact that six out of 10 voters don’t consider her “honest and trustworthy,” according to a recent CNN poll.

. . . .

She added emphatically—desperately?—“People should and do trust me.”

The Hillary hatred shines through even in the image they grabbed from the interview:

Screen Shot 2015-07-08 at 7.24.14 AM

I can hear the instruction being given: Tell the intern to find me the image that best conveys “bitch.”

Democrats, this is the tone Republicans get from Big Media all the time. All. The. Time.

Enjoy.

  1. Hillary, but also Bill, best illustrate why things become so corrupt — in various shapes and forms, ways and manners — when the left is ascendant and in charge of things. I can’t imagine a conservative version of such people being enabled and touted by other conservatives for years on end.

Although history indicates some of that did exist back in the 1970s when Nixon was in office (although he was ideologically squishy to the max and, in some ways, a closeted liberal), the Clintons and the left have taken rationalizing and excuse-making to a whole new level.

  2. She is getting more weird by the year.

I don’t remember those creepy bug eyes from the last campaign. It’s like she has no emotion to convey, so the aides tell her, just open your eyes real wide!

  3. I guess I should have included in my previous comment the fact that Hillary! has been embraced and enabled to for years and years — and years — by much of the left, and that it takes an avalanche of garbage against her to make at least some of the folks on the left to finally sit up and take notice, best illustrates why things become so corrupt in the world of liberalism.

  4. The Daily Beast is more like inside baseball compared to where most fawning will come from in the MSM. The big networks, PBS and others will and have whitewashed this Clinton campaign.

  5. the interviewer herself gave H.C a bad review. But the wedding guest did not explain why she did not use follow up questions on those answers she deemed insufficient or false.

  6. I think one way famous people get weird is that they are surrounded by paid handlers who don’t invalidate their weirdness. I think this happened to Michael Jackson and it’s happened, as we see, to Hillary Clinton.

  7. She’s either plastered or on something.

    Or both.

  8. Desperate and Inauthentic:

    Controlling and Pompous
    Brazen and Narcissistic
    Autocratic and Villainous
    Overweening and Vainglorious

  9. The bug-eyes and incessant nodding are weird. Very weird. It is like a really awful tic.

  11. face lift?
there is something not natural about her look, similar to Rep Pelosi.

  12. The problem for Hillary’s enemies is that whatever the public thinks about Hillary, they like and trust her more than they like and trust either the corporate media or the Republican Party — this is why despite the negative media coverage, she is still better-positioned than any non-incumbent Presidential candidate ever. She is crushing the other Democrats in primary polls, and she is still beating every Republican nationally, often by double digits.

Another poster nailed it: psychoanalyzing Hillary and her media relationship is inside ball that has no effect on voters, hence her continued polling strength. Hillary has proposed already a wide range of progressive reforms — voting rights, gun control, raising taxes on the rich, criminal justice reform, student loans, etc. — with more to come. She knows that’s the path to 270. Meanwhile, while she’s talking to voters about policy and ideas, the media and the Republicans are talking about her (or Donald Trump).

The clintons are loving every bit of this. No fools they.

  18. I used to accept the idea of “liberal media bias,” until I started reading The Daily Howler by Bob Somerby, who has compiled exhaustive amounts of evidence about the media’s unfavorable treatment of Gore in the 2000 election. Check it out.

  21. Jonny Scrum-half is easily fooled.

I recall in college a professor trying to prove the point that America is basically warlike.

So he stacked the deck. He asked the assembled to guess who certain people were. First, who was Patton, MacArthur, and Halsey.

    Almost everybody recognized their names.

Then he listed three people who nobody ever heard of. It turns out they were pacifists. Most likely professors who wrote books that only other professors force their students to buy.

See! The professor “proved” his point.

No. He was just a cheap propagandist. I could have proven the opposite by looking up a list of admirals and generals serving at the time who nobody ever has or ever will hear of. And then listing Gandhi, Henry David Thoreau, and Martin Luther King.

See! I proved my point. America is a pacifist nation.

The gullible, like Jonny, were taken in.

Mrs. Palin, name the original members of the Council of Trent.

  23. This is a recurrent meme from half-sack. A leftist claiming leftists weren’t fair to a fellow leftist. It is comical.

  24. “Earth-tones” Gore in 2000? Is this a case of Scrotal Recall?

  26. The Clinton game plan works because the MSM doesn’t care. When the NY Times writes a piece like the Daily Beast, then I’ll believe the worm has turned.

    AZ Bob (7d2a2c)

  27. There is something physically wrong with her. She does not appear healthy. She does not present as a person who is functioning properly. No matter how effectively she and her handlers try to avoid the press and evade personal appearances, I think the public already sees or at least senses this on some level. I don’t see how she can keep it under wraps for all the months between now and Nov. 16. She is creepy!

    elissa (43d68e)

  28. I don’t think she’s sick or on medication or going cross-eyed or any of that. The issue with Hillary!’s weird bug-eyes and head bobbing is that she is trying desperately to look engaged and interested in a process that bores her silly. She hates and resents the fact that she actually has to audition for the Presidency (let alone her party’s nomination) — this was supposed to be a coronation for her after she had cleared out the Democrat field of pesky newcomers like Elizabeth Warren. Instead, she has been focus-grouped to death and had it drilled into her skull that she needs to look hungry and alert and vigorous, so she opens the eyes extra wide and bobs her head like Katharine Hepburn in On Golden Pond because that’s her version of pretending to be interested in the process. She is so ridiculously inauthentic, and unlike Barack Obama she doesn’t even have the political skill to hide it. It’s just a sad sad state of affairs.

    True dat.

Clinton Denies Being Subpoenaed; Investigators Release Subpoena

Hillary Clinton told CNN on Tuesday that she was never personally subpoenaed. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) says that is simply false, and on Wednesday he released the documentation proving it.

…“The committee has issued several subpoenas, but I have not sought to make them public,” Gowdy said in a Wednesday statement. “I would not make this one public now, but after Secretary Clinton falsely claimed the committee did not subpoena her, I have no choice in order to correct the inaccuracy.”

Gowdy said the select committee investigating the Benghazi attacks drafted its subpoena “after learning the full extent of her unusual email arrangement with herself.”

There may be something physically wrong with Hillary!, but her main problem is she’s just a horrible, horrible person who is horrible at everything she does.

Including lying. She’s horrible at it.

  30. JVW, Just food for thought—

I think it’s important that American voters do have questions (and are encouraged to have legitimate questions) about Hillary’s health and strange affects, rather that let them assume she’s just a horrible lying bored inauthentic politician.

  32. Steve57,

I have a military question for you. I just saw a newer model green Sikorsky with the distinctive white top. Does the military brass use these helicopters or just the political leaders/VIPs?

  34. She banged her head a while back if you recall. Maybe she shook a turd loose in there.

  35. DRJ @32, I’ve never seen or heard of dedicated executive transport helos. At least not in the Navy.

The only thing that I’m aware of that comes close to your description is this:

    http://www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_display.asp?cid=1200&tid=900&ct=1

    VH-60N Night Hawk helicopter

    Description
    Executive transport helicopter.

    Features
The VH-60N is a twin engine, all-weather helicopter flown by Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) and supports the executive transport mission for the President of the United States.

    Background
The VH-60N is an executive transport helicopter derived from both the U.S. Armys UH-60 Black Hawk and the U.S. Navys SH-60 Seahawk aircraft. The H-60 family of helicopters is widely used throughout the Department of Defense for anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue, drug interdiction, anti-ship warfare, cargo lift, and special operations. The VH-60N was first delivered to HMX-1 in 1989 as a replacement for the VH-1N.

One USMC squadron flies it, and it’s got the white top.

The only dedicated executive transport aircraft at all in the Navy are Gulfstream III and IVs. Some of the reserve squadrons are basically for the top brass. But no helos.

    Steve57 (4c9797)

  36. The image- “I’ll get you, my pretty!”

    Bugg (5f4a83)

  37. Getting back to Hillary!, I read somewhere that her eyes look like that because of the botox.

    Steve57 (4c9797)

  38. I think it’s important that American voters do have questions (and are encouraged to have legitimate questions) about Hillary’s health and strange affects, rather that let them assume she’s just a horrible lying bored inauthentic politician.

Well, that’s certainly a good point. I assume she will follow in the tradition of her husband and refuse to release her full medical report, though she will drag out a partisan Democrat physician to declare that she is in “excellent health.”

    JVW (1a08e2)

  39. So isn’t this exciting, vetting the candidates for Foremost Bullsh!tter of the faceless Borg, setting about to choose the parenthetical party identifier to follow their surname.

How honored we are to be given this responsibility, to determine the political optics of the crap to be thrown against the wall for a term.

    Are we not entertained?

  44. DRJ @40-42, maybe. I’m not aware of any service that uses a paint scheme like you’re describing though. Are you sure it was a military helo? A lot of federal agencies have their own little fleets.
