Maryland Governor Hogan Announces He Is Battling “Advanced” Cancer

Filed under: General — JVW @ 1:38 pm

[guest post by JVW]

Breaking news right now: Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland has announced that he is battling advanced lymphoma which is spreading towards his spine and will immediately begin chemotherapy sessions. Hogan is in his first year in office, having won an upset victory in the past November’s elections. Hogan has been absent several days the past couple of weeks and has announced that Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford would be serving a more prominent role while he is in treatment.

Our best wishes to Gov. Hogan and his family.

  1. the devil is waiting for you republican!

[Comment by JVW: Dana suggested that this be deleted, but I think sometimes it’s worthwhile to show just how awful internet trolls can be. This person uses a fake email address and does not put in a real name, so they can have their total anonymity (though their IP address traces to Phoenix). If I see another comment from this IP address then I’ll put down the ban hammer, but for now let’s just shake our heads at how miserable some people’s lives must really be.]

  2. JVW,

I have not learned how to delete comments, but perhaps you can delete the foul #1?

My prayers for Gov. Hogan and his family. This is an arduous journey they are facing. May God see them through this time with love and care.

    Dana (86e864)

  3. Now I see, ap. You mean the Gov.. Nice comment you hate filled racist pig.

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27)

  4. I appended my own comment to the wretched comment from the disturbed lowlife in comment #1.

    JVW (8278a3)

  5. Prayers for him and his family, regardless of party affiliation.

  6. ap is using a browser that hides the IP address. I know this because the code in parenthesis after his name changes with each comment, which means s/he is posting from multiple locations or is using a browser that hides the IP address. My guess is ap is also stir, and I think they are either imdw or perry.

I like JVW’s idea to leave that comment so we see the real ap. If the comments are too disruptive, I suggest you moderate him. I think JD can do that or email me for ideas on how to do that without having a consistent IP address.

  7. There are many different types of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s unfortunate Gov. Hogan has an aggressive form but there is a great deal of research regarding blood cancers so there are likely many options for treatment — even if the first round fails. I hope his cancer responds to the new biologics because they are much easier to handle than traditional chemotherapy. God bless him and everyone who has health issues, because they affect everyone in the family.

  8. Maryland, and Baltimore particularly, is in this man’s debt.

I hope that some of the millions donated to the fight against blood cancers by Rush and his listeners will have led to a cure for this good man and excellent public servant.

  9. Gov. Hogan has my prayers.

Does anyone know what Maryland law prescribes if he has to step down? Does the Lt. Gov. step up, or is there a special election?

If the latter, someone on Team Hillary! is probably already twisting Martin O’Malley’s arm to drop his presidential flirtation and focus on re-winning his former gubernatorial position. Dunno if O’Malley could win a special election, though — I think he quit while the quitting was good.

  11. Personally, if “ap” is indeed “Perry” , then I think we’ve all seen enough of his work to know how this particular troll operates. It’s nothing new. And particularly foul in this thread.

    Dana (e6d6a3)

  12. So Hogkins does what? He breaks out in terrible acne? Grows an enormous goiter? Oily stool?

Esophageal sounds like enough. Different thing though?

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  13. An easy way to determine if a post is Perry’s is check to see if there’s an exclamation point at the end. He usually ends with!. Because everything he types is so damn important!

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27)

  14. Praying he beats it.

  15. The survival rate for non-Hodgkins lymphoma is relatively high. Physician Kevin Cullen, director of the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center, said about 70 percent of patients with the disease are still alive after five years.

Cullen said most cases of non-Hodgkins lymphoma are discovered at stage 3, when the tumors are more pronounced, just as Hogan’s was. Patients rarely require surgery or radiation, because chemotherapy can generally treat the disease without those procedures, Cullen said. He said Hogan is taking the right approach with his plans to work through the treatment period.

JD is the real expert, but this doesn’t seem to me like the modus operandi of perry. I’m guessing it was just a drive-by.

  17. It does seem to remind me of imdw’s posting style, though.

  18. cancer is stupid i thought if we elected obama we were gonna be able to just slather some stem cells on it and call it a day

turns out he mostly just likes to golf

  19. Best wishes to Gov. Hogan and his family. There is good news; a miracle may not be required.

    Over at Ace I read:

  20. I won’t give ap/perry/imdw.

I would consider it my Christian duty to walk across the street and pee on him if he was on fire.

But I’d wait until he had stopped thrashing around so much before getting too near and exposing anything tender.

  21. * I won’t give ap/perry/imdw the time of day.

  22. speaking of cancer National Soros Radio by chance seems to have stumbled upon some central planning commies

“If you drew a 100-mile circle around each city in the U.S. and then you looked at the capacity of the existing farmland, you’d find that 90 percent of the people could be fed within those circles,” says Elliott Campbell, an associate professor of environmental engineering at U.C. Merced who co-authored the study.

Over the last two years, Campbell has been exploring the idea of “foodshed potential,” or “the fraction of total dietary needs that could be met if all existing croplands were repurposed for local food consumption,” as he and his co-author Andrew Zumkehr write in the paper.

if this country doesn’t scares the bejesus out of you I want what you’re smoking

  23. It is perry. 105% certain.

  24. May the Governor receive a complete healing from the One “who wounds and heals, Who kills and makes alive”.

[Posted on the premise that a stray troll does not deserve half the comments in a thread like this.]

  25. JVW, Dana, etal – Perry has a couple very distinctive traits.

    JD (3b5483)

  26. == Perry has a couple very distinctive traits.==

JD is a worthy comment archivist here just like art archivists can identify forged paintings by analyzing the brush strokes and paint type used.

    elissa (b5a7fd)

  27. He and his family look crushed. prayers for them.

    patricia (5fc097)

  28. Elissa – after probably in excess of 200 different hate-filled identities, the markers are pretty easy to identify.

    JD (3b5483)

  29. JD, at some point you are going to have to do a post with a chart of all the past and present trolls we have had here: Is imdw the same as perry, and are they the same as wheeler’s cat, and where does stir fit in to all of this as well as the Lord-knows how many other personas we have been — ahem — entertained by on this site over the years. I marvel at your ability to catalog and recall them.

    JVW (8278a3)

  30. JVW – ap is Perry. Stir is imdw. Wheeler’s is bugf@cknutz. Actus was alway epic. Truthnjustice was another one of the bile-filled gasbags. And who could forget Levi?

    JD (3b5483)

  31. And some of these trolls are not harmless. Imdw cozied up to the crazy NealR ghouls, and posted links to pictures of Patterico’s house. Trolls have contacted people’s employers. I joke around about them, but I seriously believe they have real psychological issues. Like semanticleo, who once claimed PRE traumatic stress syndrome for his non-existent child being shipped off to war.

    JD (3b5483)

  32. I joke around about them, but I seriously believe they have real psychological issues.

Oh, I don’t doubt it. I feel the same way about social justice warriors: it’s fun to deride them and mock them for their lunacy, but the reality is that they are deeply deeply disturbed people. Rachel Dolezal and DeRay McKesson being two notable examples of this sad trend.

    JVW (8278a3)

  33. They are just bad people, JVW

    JD (3b5483)

  34. I think they only use chemo because there’s really not any locus to shoot at with a blood cancer.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  35. Blood cancers suck.

    JD (3b5483)

  36. Someone should do a scientific paper on the abnormal psychology of internet trolls. Probably grow up to be mass murderers.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  37. I think there was a study recently. It is what you would expect. Anti-social bad people.

    JD (3b5483)

  38. Those two links answered the question as to why the vast majority of internet trolls are leftists. They start out as sad little narcissists, self absorbed psychos and then troll from there. They are perfectly suited for the vile, nasty, immoral, hateful, racist world of trolling. Why do leftists seem to always be in a state of aggravation, hate and envy? Don’t they ever have fun? Even the leftists I know socially are always b!tchin’ about something.

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27)

  39. Most trolls aren’t leftist. They’ll go to one site and bash Republicans, another and bash liberals, and a third to bash baseball fans. They’re opportunist, not ideological.

    JWB (aedb59)

  40. Not by my experience, JWB. The overwhelming majority I’ve run across were leftists. And yes, I read all sorts of blogs not just conservative although conservative are the only ones I post on and participate in, not being a troll.

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27)

  41. Most of these posts are on a troll and not on the topic. That’s sad, people. Ignore the troll.

I’m praying for my Governor and his family.

    Burnside (8fa39f)

  42. wheeler’s cat is an awesome cat one of the very best cats of its kind

    smart kitty
