Toni Morrison: “I want to see a cop shoot a white unarmed teenager in the back”

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:36 pm

This happened over a week ago, but I missed it:

“People keep saying, ‘We need to have a conversation about race,’” Ms. Morrison told the (U.K.) Telegraph in an April 19 interview.

“This is the conversation. I want to see a cop shoot a white unarmed teenager in the back,” said Ms. Morrison, who also has won the Pulitzer Prize for her work, which includes the bestsellers “Beloved” and “Song of Solomon.” “And I want to see a white man convicted for raping a black woman. Then when you ask me, ‘Is it over?’, I will say yes.”

No, this is the conversation: I want to see Toni Morrison shunned for having a small ugly racist heart.

By the way, the linked piece says cops kills whites more than blacks (not necessarily per capita), so it’s not like it doesn’t happen. Someone tell this harpy so she can start her happy dance.

Despite public pressure for an indictment, a Mobile County grand jury refused to bring charges against Officer Austin, concluding that the officer acted in self-defense.

The circumstances mirror those of the Aug. 9 shooting death of Michael Brown, a black unarmed 18-year-old under the influence of drugs by Officer Darren Wilson, who is white, in Ferguson.

Toni Morison is a freakin’ idiot. In addition to being racist. A clueless, uninformed racist.

“Black cop kills unarmed white teen” or just “Cop kills unarmed white teen” happens a lot more than a white cop killing an unarmed black teen. It just never makes the national news because it doesn’t fit the progressive left’s narrative.

  3. She wants a black woman raped? That’s racist AND misogynist.

That, my friends, is the liberal mindset at work.

  7. You know why she hasn’t seen a White man convicted for raping a Black woman? White men don’t rape Black women. The numbers of White men raping Black women is literally non-measurable it happens so rarely. But you know what does happen? You know what is a bigger problem than rapes on college campuses? The number of Black men who rape White women every year, though you will never hear the media talk about it.

  8. There are people still around who lived through the civil rights struggle and therefore have that rare combination of self-righteousness that comes from fighting for that cause and the sort of cantankerous close-mindedness that is typical of many senior citizens. Ms. Morrison is but one example of this ugly duality; Congressman John Lewis is another. What is so sad is to realize that if they weren’t so hopelessly full of themselves they would probably have some wisdom to impart upon us all.

  9. You know what I want to see? People setting aside race in order to address the very real problem of police killing people they don’t need to kill. That would be a productive development. This isn’t about race. This is about sanctioned homicide.

  17. “Years ago, in the middle of the Whitewater investigation, one heard the first murmurs: white skin notwithstanding, this is our first black President. Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime. After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald’s-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.”

    – Toni Morrison

It depends on what the meaning of “black” is.

    Leviticus (304cd5) — 4/27/2015 @ 11:22 pm

Yes, Levitcus, the reality is this is about race. Deal with it. And the reason this is about race is because of the biased reporting, because the LHMFM wants to push a narrative that racist white America is executing black “children.” Which is why when a black cop shoots an unarmed white teenager in Alabama it’s just a local story. It doesn’t fit the narrative. And because the teen is 18 y.o. even the locals will call him an unarmed white man. Because an 18 y.o. is in fact an adult.

But 6’2″ 300lb 18 y.o. Mike Brown? Why, he’s just a child. The cops are executing black children, the LHMFM wants you to know.

In very few cases are these “legally sanctioned homicides.” One of the clearest examples is this story:

    http://reason.com/blog/2015/01/02/more-police-wtf-alabama-man-shot-killed#.fvlvrk:Ki7p

More Police WTF: Alabama Man Shot, Killed by Police While Turning in Stray Cat

Robert Earl Lawrence was turning in a stray cat to a Dothan, Alabama, animal shelter. For some reason, he had to show I.D. before he could leave the cat. Rather than pulling out a driver’s license, “he instead showed paperwork that identified him as a sovereign citizen and, therefore, not bound by federal, state, or local laws.”

The workers at the shelter called the cops, arguments enusued, and Lawrence was shot in the stomach, dying several hours later that day. From Raw Story:

Apparently he had anger issues, had a misdemeanor record, and talked back to the cop. which eventually led to a struggle.

But seriously? All because he refused to show ID when he was turning in a stray kitten to an animal shelter?

Eric Garner was at least committing an offense. This Lawrence guy was killed for committing Contempt of Cop. You won’t hear much about it, Leviticus. Because Robert Earl Lawrence was white.

  23. You know what I want to see?

You know what I want to see, Leviticus? I want to see liberals like you — who also are of white persuasion — putting your mouth where your money is and moving to a neighborhood that is predominantly black.

What I don’t want to see is people like you viewing things from a great distance, not experiencing the socio-cultural reality on a full-time basis.

(BTW, I have resided in a community that was of mostly African-American background and I don’t take kindly to folks, particularly of the left, who try to sound so noble and tolerant of the socio-political dynamics and quirks of such places, but as perceived from the tranquility and safety of a less-than-diverse part of America.)

    Mark (607f93)

  24. i like Toni she’s a great american writer dislikes are include candy crowley, starbucks, the thuggy thuggy nfl, scraping my teeth against popsicle sticks, uppity chimpanzees who think they’re people, Lindsay Graham, obamacare, and shelf-stable bacon products

  25. “You know what I want to see, Leviticus? I want to see liberals like you — who also are of white persuasion — putting your mouth where your money is and moving to a neighborhood that is predominantly black.”

    – Mark

Is this like the time when you told me (stupidly) that I should go live on my city’s MLK, Jr. Ave, and I replied that I lived a block from it?

There are no “predominantly black” neighborhoods in Albuquerque, or most other places in NM (maybe Hobbs). NM also has one of the highest crime rates in the country. How does that fit into Mark’s Unified Field Theory of Nidal-Rupert-Hassan-Everettization of America?

    Leviticus (f9a067)

  26. So, Leviticus, have you ever resided in a predominantly black community, attended a public school full of black students? If not, you really deserve to personally — personally — live the reality, experience the dynamics, on a full-time basis.

    Mark (607f93)

  27. you gotta be down with the struggle Mr. Leviticus

  28. Mark likes to tell other people where they should and shouldn’t live. It’s one of his schticks. He apparently thinks it’s clever. Go figure.

  29. When was the last time a 12 year old white child was shot and killed and left to die as the cop who shot him stands over his dying body while the child was playing with a toy gun in a park ???????

    12,000,000 non-minority voters (58a3ec)

  32. Mark likes to tell other people where they should and shouldn’t live.

Elissa, so would you rather that liberals like Leviticus live in their little bubble, protected from harsh reality, while professing to be so aware, knowledgeable and presumably non-naive about the socio-economic idiosyncrases in the real world — feet on the ground, eyes wide open, rose-colored glasses tossed into the trash bin — that people in ivory towers (or little bubbles) don’t have to deal with or can easily pretend not to notice?

    Mark (607f93)

  33. Your last sentence if you can call it one is really just incomprehensible gobbledygook. I think it’s none of my business to change what Leviticus thinks or where he chooses to live. I don’t think it’s yours either, Mark. I often think Leviticus is wrong about things because he’s young and rash and may not always think things through before posting. He often comes across as more cynical about situations than I think is warranted. But I don’t think he’s stupid. You treat him that way regularly and go out of your way to insult him. That reflects more poorly on you than it does him. And, I really doubt he is looking to you for social and political guidance on how to run his life.

    elissa (6a947f)

  34. I think it’s none of my business to change what Leviticus thinks or where he chooses to live. I don’t think it’s yours either, Mark.

So, Elissa, when you post here and rebut various comments, and argue your POV versus someones else’s, you have absolutely no interest in changing that person’s opinion?

BTW, I wonder how many here at this message board (including you) have ever resided in a predominantly black community, much less attended a grade school with a plethora of black students?

    Mark (607f93)
