May his memory be eternal, Patterico.
And Happy Name Day to you.
nk (dbc370) — 3/17/2015 @ 7:38 amMy father-in-law did make it to his 90th birthday, 3 days ago. After he passes, I’ll mention to him he should look up your dad. Being of an age, I’m sure they’ll have much in common – including raising fine sons.

corwin (137e3d) — 3/17/2015 @ 8:50 amIt’s a wonderful tradition and it reminds e that although my fater is also gone,he’s not forgotten.Thanks Corwin
Happy St Patrick’s Day to your father and you and all of the little Pattericos.
The Dana who isn't Irish! (f6a568) — 3/17/2015 @ 9:06 amOur Dad left lasting memories and traditions that Patrick, our sisters and our mom will cherish forever. But he would have been especially proud, and a tad bit pleased with this one because he loved the fact his birthday was on St. Patrick’s day – and loved to share that fact with all that he could. This does that in a way he never could have imagined.
Brotherico (f6957a) — 3/17/2015 @ 9:24 amI didn’t know your father but I imagine him singing When Irish Eyes are Smiling. It reminds me of Spring, happiness, and being young at heart.
DRJ (e80d46) — 3/17/2015 @ 9:45 amÉirinn go Brách to you and your Father!
reff (c40265) — 3/17/2015 @ 9:54 amhappy birthday to your father! I think of my own just about every day and I miss him.
Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 3/17/2015 @ 11:06 amThis should be a reminder for everyone who still has their Father around to
talk to, to make a point to do so more often.
Once they’re gone, all you’ll have is the memories. (which is a lot, but still . .)
Make some memories today.
jakee308 (49ccc6) — 3/17/2015 @ 11:22 am(even if they’re cantankerous and opinionated, they’re your progenitor)
Missing my dad today. Everyday really.
papertiger (c2d6da) — 3/17/2015 @ 12:20 pmHappy birthday to your dad, Patterico.
bridget (498a63) — 3/17/2015 @ 1:15 pmBest wishes on this day, Patterico: good memories and the loss both.
My father did not do well after my mother passed away. So he is now a shadow of who he once was. But I call him each week. Some calls are better than others. But I make certain every interaction I have with him (no matter what he says, and he says some hurtful stuff sometimes) is a positive one. I focus on the good things, and tell him that he mattered, and that I love him.
Our fathers cast long shadows.
To lighten the mood, here is a biologist’s view of St. Patrick’s Day:

I will raise a glass to your father tonight, as I play that tune.

EPWJ (9dacda) — 3/17/2015 @ 3:23 pmLooks like BK had a bad day in court today. So, in addition to St Patrick’s Day and Patterico’s dad, lets raise a glass to that too. Perhaps Patterico will have more to say about this later.
