Unnamed Obama Official: Netanyahu Will Pay a Price for This
Haaretz (via Hot Air):
“We thought we’ve seen everything,” a senior American official said. “But Bibi managed to surprise even us. There are things you simply don’t do. He spat in our face publicly and that’s no way to behave. Netanyahu ought to remember that President Obama has a year and a half left to his presidency, and that there will be a price.”
I don’t know; maybe Netanyahu is just trying to show that he’s not a “chickenshit.” That’s the label that an unnamed Obama administration official pinned on Netanyahu last October with no real blowback from the administration. If this is all about petty revenge for personal slights, well, I suppose two can play that game. That ever occur to you, Obama?
I guess it didn’t, because guess what? You also seem to be making the same mistake in complaining that this is a breach of protocol. It’s also kind of a breach of protocol (to put it mildly) to go around handing out work permits to people that Congress has said are here illegally and should be removed from the country. (It’s also unconstitutional, in my opinion, but let’s just talk “protocol” for now.)
In Rome, not long before the fall of the Republic, there was a fella named Tiberius Gracchus who breached “protocol” and bypassed the Roman Senate (and violated several other traditional norms of collegiality) in an effort to address inequality in society. Things didn’t end well for him. Namely, he was beaten to death with clubs and bench legs. Nobody is talking about doing any such thing to Obama, of course — nor should they be. All they’re doing is inviting a foreign leader to make a speech — and showing that breaches of protocol run both ways.
The sowing is done. It’s reaping time. Enjoy the harvest, pal.

The Dana trying to get in the second comment (f6a568) — 1/23/2015 @ 7:27 amThe unnamed official said:
It seems that President Obama likes using unnamed officials to communicate what he really thinks to Prime Minister Netanyahu. But, Mr Netanyahu already knew it: now that the elections are over, and our esteemed President doesn’t have to worry about the Jewish vote for his fellow Democrats in Congress — and there’s no evidence that he gives a flying fornicate about what happens once he leaves office — Mr Obama would have been attempting to impose costs and difficulties on Israel regardless of any particular breaches of protocol.
The Israelis have already seen how much the Democrats, at their National Conventions, think of Israel, and can see how much our left support the scumbag Palestinians. And they know that Mr Obama is as much a solid creature of the American left as anyone, and they have learned not to expect any more support for Israel from our clown President than the very minimum he has to show. Now that the elections have passed, that minimum has dropped, and the Israelis know that, too.

They tried to pass a law making it illegal for Sheldon Adelson to own his free paper.
http://forward.com/articles/209216/israel-lawmakers-push-move-to-close-sheldon-adelso/
Sheldon Adelson does not read Hebrew, although his second (I think) wife is Israeli, so the contenst of the newspaper are entirely in the hands of hired hands.
Some years ago a radio station (Arutz-7) which had been operating as a pirate radio station got clsoed, in spite of attempts by the Knesset to legalize it.

Well, knowing how generous the left are with their own money — or so Haaretz might assume, being as they are so generous with other people’s money — the editors probably figure that they’ll get the American left to pay for it.
As for us wicked reich-wing conservatives, they know we won’t pay good money for utter drivel, so they aren’t concerned with us.
The extremely poor Dana (f6a568) — 1/23/2015 @ 11:07 amMr Finkelman quoted:
Unintended consequences? Wouldn’t that also apply to the online versions of all newspapers?
But the answers are simple: Mr Adelman then distributes his paper five days a week, and publishes it on the internet, where anyone can read it, for free. And that’s the problem for newspapers in general: how do they make money competing against all of the free information on the internets that Al Gore invented.
The Dana who supports freedom of speech and of the press (f6a568) — 1/23/2015 @ 11:14 amMr Finkelman quoted:
The model for a normal newspaper is having no competition from other forms of media, though having competition within its own medium. Once that model was shattered, newspapers started a slow downward spiral, that they haven’t yet figured out how to break.

kishnevi (3719b7) — 1/23/2015 @ 11:36 amNot that there is really an editorial position at Arutz-7, but if they had one:
They are not for expulsion – they are for annexation of the West Bank (but probably not Gaza) probably because of the insecurity of the rights to remain where they or other Jews are now living They want Israel to shut the door on that. (it’s not to solve the general situation because it wouldn’t)
They would offer citizenship and hope the offer was not taken up by too many.

The truth of the matter is, the switch from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party really happened under FDR – in places they could vote, anyway.
That included Memphis, Tennessee, and Hot Springs, Arkansas, where they were voted by the Democratic machine. In both places the machine paid their poll taxes for them.
http://www.applet-magic.com/crump.htm
The same sort of thing went on in Hot Springs, Arkanasas, when it was run by the machine controlled by Owen Vincent (Owney the Killer) Madden, who was a key founder of organized crime in America (he “retired” there in 1934) especially in the years before 1948 when the machine temporarily lost power in the “GI revolt”.
