Obama Names Political Hack As Ebola “Czar”
Nothing says “trust” like a political hack:
President Barack Obama will appoint Ron Klain his “Ebola czar,” knowledgeable sources tell CNN.
“Key player in Solyndra scandal”? Check.
Debate prepper for Obama and Biden? Check.
Knowledge of health care issues? Er . . . uh . . .
But he knows politics and damage control, and that’s what we need in a Damage Control Czar.
Ebola Czar. What? I didn’t say Damage Control Czar. No, I didn’t.
P.S. I’m sick of “czars” of any stripe.
Reassuring!

MD in Philly (f9371b) — 10/17/2014 @ 5:21 pmbut you missed the part where we discussed he actually already has an Ebola czar, someone who answers to the sec of HHS who is supposed to plan for contingencies like Ebola outbreaks
she seems to have been sent to Ceti Alpha 5

MD in Philly (f9371b) — 10/17/2014 @ 5:46 pmI still want a post called “Is it unfair to blame Karl Rove for the Demonization of George W. Bush?”, as I said on another thread.
Sometimes you have to create a crisis, before you let it go to waste:
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/ebola-czar-ron-klain-was-a-fannie-mae-and-cigna-lobbyist/article/2554953?custom_click=rss
As to Rove, he had responsibility for communications and strategy, other officials in the bureaucracy, Wilkerson and Armitage, the last now Erdogan’s man in Washington, Powell, Pillar, Drumheller, at CIA,
narciso (ee1f88) — 10/17/2014 @ 5:51 pmcooperated in shaping the narrative,
Klain??? I think Mike Bloomberg would have been a better choice. His banning of Big Gulps at least shows his mind’s on public health issues and that he’s not afraid to take unpopular stances for the greater good.
elissa (5b5463) — 10/17/2014 @ 6:14 pmHere is what is wrong with the world (one thing anyway),
MD in Philly (f9371b) — 10/17/2014 @ 6:33 pmthe news update on the radio just said that “President Obama is stepping up the Ebola response with appointing…”
and this is a Salem radio station that has Hewitt, Bennett, Prager, etc.
they can’t do anything but parrot the AP feed or whatever.
Clear Channel, I know, Dana Loesch for instance has a show that is picked up here, but it’s the same AP slug at the quarter hour
narciso (ee1f88) — 10/17/2014 @ 6:38 pmSen. Kay Hagan (D) today called for a temporary but immediate travel restriction of non U.S. citizens coming from the West African Ebola states. An Illinois congressional candidate (R) has also just called on the president to implement a travel ban. It would be interesting to see a running list of 2014 candidates at the national level from both parties and where they have come down on this issue related to protecting Americans. It seems that with the remaining weeks before Nov. 4 it will be nearly impossible for any candidate to avoid taking a public stand on this.

Colonel Haiku (0b084b) — 10/17/2014 @ 6:51 pmKlain also works for a firm called Revolution, where they, you know, get all revolution-y to help their clients. Maybe he will be the one tasked to bring in the Ebola patients for treatment here, as rumored by Judicial Watch.

But don’t call him a radical!
Patricia (5fc097) — 10/17/2014 @ 7:14 pmI made a comment on an earlier thread about our new Ebola czar that I’d like to take back.
After thinking about it, you can’t really compare this appointment to Caligula attempting to make his horse one of the chief magistrates of Rome.
The horse would have been a better choice.

Wendy Davis? Wow, she must be desperate.

Which I take to mean his job is to continue to advise against a travel ban.
So Ron Kleain, Ebola Czar, will now be a member of the group of “experts” that Obama claims are telling him that a travel ban would only make things worse.
Steve57 (4d34f4) — 10/17/2014 @ 7:27 pmThat’s practically been her campaign slogan.
Steve57 (4d34f4) — 10/17/2014 @ 7:28 pmThe whole czar thing is to have cabinet-level officers without needing senate approval. It’s quite dodgy.
Kevin M (b357ee) — 10/17/2014 @ 7:36 pmOn my way here, maybe same story with Hemingway input, someone said the appointment clues us in on Ogabe’s thinking this a political issue–any perceived health issue to be managed via Alinsky methods.
Dhimmis will need bed pans over the next few weeks.
gary gulrud (46ca75) — 10/17/2014 @ 7:49 pmKlain will report to Rice.
Wonder if Crack Whore is angling for UN Secretary-General.
gary gulrud (46ca75) — 10/17/2014 @ 7:53 pmHe’ll need to reclaim his Kenyan citizenship, then. Secretary General goes to little, unimportant countries.
nk (dbc370) — 10/17/2014 @ 8:14 pmKlain was the Democrat operative who tried to get military ballots not counted if you recall. He’s not a doctor. He’s not an administrator. He’s not anything but a Democrat stooge. But he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

I can see that happening. After all, He will have more “flexibility” after his term ends.

Snicker.
nk (dbc370) — 10/18/2014 @ 7:23 amnot to worry: Klain won’t actually start on the j*b for 5 0r 6 months.
good thing this isn’t a life and death issue, with the attendant urgency such a scenario would require.
