President Obama and Speaker Boehner: ‘Let Her Rip’

Today in Austin, the president “let her rip” taking aim at Republicans pushing impeachment or threatening to sue him. According to the president, because he isn’t running for office again he can pretty much say whatever is on his mind:

“‘Sue him! Impeach him!’ Really? For what? You’re going to sue me for doing my job?” Obama said. “I mean think about that — you’re going to use taxpayer money to sue me for doing my job, while you don’t do your job? Huh.”

Coincidentally, Speaker Boehner announced today that after the House of Representatives passes a resolution giving itself authorization to sue President Obama, it will then “file suit against the president over his delay of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate”.

In 2013, the president changed the health care law without a vote of Congress, effectively creating his own law by literally waiving the employer mandate and the penalties for failing to comply with it. That’s not the way our system of government was designed to work. No president should have the power to make laws on his or her own.

As I’ve said, this isn’t about Republicans versus Democrats; it’s about the Legislative Branch versus the Executive Branch, and above all protecting the Constitution. The Constitution states that the president must faithfully execute the laws, and spells out that only the Legislative Branch has the power to legislate. The current president believes he has the power to make his own laws – at times even boasting about it. He has said that if Congress won’t make the laws he wants, he’ll go ahead and make them himself, and in the case of the employer mandate in his health care law, that’s exactly what he did.

Boehner said the lawsuit was “borne of an obligation to stand up for the Legislative Branch.”

The current president believes he has the power to make his own laws — at times even boasting about it. He has said that if Congress won’t make the laws he wants, he’ll go ahead and make them himself, and in the case of the employer mandate in his health care law, that’s exactly what he did. If this president can get away with making his own laws, future presidents will have the ability to as well.

The White House called this a “political stunt” and a waste of taxpayer dollars. No comment, however, about any other seeming political stunt and waste of tax payer dollars.

Mexico And Guatemala: A Deal Made

The Examiner presents another reason to believe that the “humanitarian crisis” at the border only exists because of collusion between the Mexican and Guatemalan governments, and “likely” the United States, as well. They base this on a joint announcement made by Mexican and Guatemalan leaders earlier this week:

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Guatemalan president Otto Perez Molina held a joint press conference in Playas de Catazaja, Mexico, to officially announce an agreement to make it easier for those making the illegal journey to the United States from Central America, to cross into Mexico.

The Southern Border Program to Improve Passage, will provide for more border checkpoints along Mexico’s border with Guatemala, and offer more protection and even emergency medical care to those making their way north. The illegal aliens will receive a so-called Regional Visitor’s Card, according to El Universal.

Officially, the program will grant the cards to only illegal aliens from Guatemala and Belize, allowing them to remain in Mexico’s southern states for 72 hours (more than enough time to reach the U.S./Mexican border by train). While, those two countries share a border with Mexico, the program will undoubtedly benefit anyone who makes it to the border, which would explain why our Border Patrol stations are currently overflowing with illegal aliens from El Salvador and Honduras as well.

The program will also give special protection and even financial assistance to unaccompanied minors now pouring across our border. Of course, these efforts, chiefly by the Mexican government, will only increase the number of illegal aliens coming to this country by the thousands, now on a daily basis.

Regarding the goals of the program, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said it’s twofold: To protect the immigrants crossing through Mexico on their way to the US or back to their countries, and improve the international crossing points, in order to improve the development and security of the region.
