Patterico’s Judicial Endorsements

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:01 am

As I told you before, they are sparse this year. Too many D.A.’s running to make an endorsement in every race. I am sticking to the three people I know best.

I have blogged these endorsements previously, but here they are again:

  • Vote Shannon Knight for Office 54.

If you want further guidance, look at the Met News. They may not get everything right, but they do a lot better than the L.A. Times.

  1. You’d likely call yourself Sunny too if you carried the name of the Songhai (aka Songhay) people and their Islamic slave empire. Which stretched from an enclave on the Atlantic Ocean along the western bulge of Africa deep into the Maghreb. Songhai was named after its dominant ethnic group, look at Sunny’s face and you’ll see an easily identifiable example of the phenotype.

Although a Songhai state had existed from the 11th century, modern history records the empire period from the mid-15th to the late 16th century and had the distinction of being one of the largest Islamic empires in history. The empire’s capital city was eventually established at Gao, although it’s base of power depended on dominating trade at the great bend of the Niger river in present day Niger and Burkina Faso. At its height the empire also included Timbuktu and other traditional trading centers deep in the Maghreb hinterland.

Maybe Sunny wouldn’t like the blacks she wants to vote for her to know about Songhai’s long history of slave trading. It might not generate much enthusiasm for her candidacy.

  2. For Judicial Office 48, a woman named Carol Rose described as a “Child Molestation Prosecutor” is running against one Charles M. Calderon, “Retired Lawmaker Assemblymember,” from the notorious Calderon crime family. Short of being a Stalinist or an al Qaeda operative, I would vote for just about anyone over a Calderon. This isn’t even one of the races that you can sit out by not voting — an active vote against the sleaze of the California Democrats in general and the Calderon family in particular is mandated here.

Naturally, the Dog Trainer endorsed him, and for good measure gave a thumbs up to Sunny the race avenger too. In fact, Patterico, that editorial board differs from you on all three endorsements, so it is clear that you have chosen the superior candidates.

  3. Perhaps Charles is the proverbial ‘stopped clock’ in his family.

Yeah, I noticed that Met News is pretty high on him too. We are reminded that he compiled a fairly moderate record in the legislature, and was one of the five Democrats who challenged Willie Brown and attempted to knock him out of the speakership.

But hey, Michael Corleone tried to steer his family towards respectable business too. A lot of good it did them.

  5. I take it this Amy Carter is not Jimmy and Roslyn Carter’s daughter Amy. You might want to clarify that for readers eligible to vote in CA who would find it difficult to pull the lever for anyone who might even conceivably be related to Jimmy C.

  6. JVW,

Carol Rose, I am told, is perhaps the least judicial candidate on the ballot. Everyone wanted to favor her over the old pol Calderon, but couldn’t.

  7. I really struggled with this race, Kevin M. I thought of just not voting, but that is too Obama voting “present” for me. The problem is that instead of these eleven or whatever separate judicial offices with some people running against one or two people and others running unopposed, we ought to just elect the eleven best people and slot them into the open seats.

In the end, though, I felt that it was my duty to cast a vote against a Calderon. Yeah, it’s making him pay for the sins of his brothers, but to hell with all of the corrupt Democrats in this county and state.

  8. not to gainsay Mr. JVW, whose lojicks seem airtight

but Mr. P every time we do this it weirds me out

you have a certain day job, yes?

    yes.

But all us pikachoozles here in the los angeles know that…

    voting?

that’s how they get you for jury duty here.

    that’s how they get you!

And honestly – we also know that people on the freedom end of the political spectrum flat-out canNOT get elected here.

    Unelectable are they.

So why, I ask you, should a wee lil pikachu vote at all?

I owe these fascists nuffingk. I owe them no duties of jury. They’ve already raped me 6 ways to Sunday.

Plus what they’ve done to my friends is even worser.

    God bless America.
