Who Can Teach Me Some Basic iMovie Video Editing Techniques — Right Now?

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 8:19 pm

I am working on something I want to get done in the next hour. If I knew how to do it, it would be easy. It requires basic iMovie skills — how do you insert a blank page with titles in between video clips, etc. Does any longtime reader know how to do that, who could hop on chat with me or something?

It has to do with that post I did about the judicial candidate and her supporter who used a bogus copyright claim to remove the truth from YouTube. My tech guy is not responding to me and I am looking to put together a short movie to show what these Orwellian people are editing out of the public dialogue.

UPDATE: JWB is on the case and the tech guy is on it too. Things are looking up!

  1. Anyone?

  2. I know how to do it in Windows Movie Maker:

    Step 1) Create images (cards)
Step 2) Load video into Editor
Step 3) “Split” video where you want to add cards
Step 4) Add card to video
Step 5) Move card to split location
Step 6) Repeat 5 and 6 for each card

iMovie should not be different. You can also send me the video. I’ve got a lot of video editing I’ll be doing tomorrow, so I can have it for you by tomorrow afternoon

  3. Hell, I had a long nap today, so I can get it done within the hour if you get it to me in short order. Faster if you have the cards already done. (I’m EST)

  4. Maybe I could email you the actual video with the missing footage. That’s the video I was trying to do — basically duplicate your video showing the cut, and then show her threat to me, and then show people what she cut out.

  5. It was basically going to be your video, only instead of quoting the text of her inflammatory stuff, it would actually SHOW it. First the clip with the jump, then a “Whoa! What was that jump?!” frame. Then a frame that says something to the effect that they were trying to cut something embarrassing out. Then, I would show people what that was.

  6. Hey boss…

I’m in Pasadena, and know Final Cut Pro X like the back of my hand.

Next time you have something like this that needs doing, hit me up.
