GOVERNMENT SLOWDOWN, DAY FOUR

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:13 am

Didn’t get enough sleep. At first I thought it was because I stayed up too late, but then I realized that it was the Tea Party’s fault.

  1. I thought I was the only one that thought Obama on verge of a temper tantrum but I see others making that observation.

  2. My infection resolved overnight, and I think it’s like the glitch in my IE that went away earlier this week — THE GOVERNMENT WAS CAUSING IT!

  3. Before the shutdown, on the newsgroup soc.culture.israel, someone calling himself “The Revd” called me a “gook” and spread Judenhass.

During the shutdown, the Revd still calls me a “gook” and spreads Judenhass on soc.culture.israel.

  4. SPQR, I suspect Obama is a sociopath. Which shouldn’t be too controversial a statement, given that quit a few sociopaths are capable of functioning in society and certain professions tend to attract them. But how does Obama not fit this profile?

    http://www.mcafee.cc/Bin/sb.html

    Profile of the Sociopath

This website summarizes some of the common features of descriptions of the behavior of sociopaths.

    – Glibness and Superficial Charm

    -Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

    – Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as “their right.”

    Pathological Lying

Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

You’re stretching, Mr. George Stephanopolous, when you quote the dictionary at me about what constitutes a tax. My individual mandate is not a tax. Unless it needs to be to get Chief Justice Roberts onboard with the program. Then I’ll tell my solicitor general to argue it’s a tax. Then the next day I’ll lie to your face that it’s not a tax.

    – Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt

A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

    – Shallow Emotions

When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

    – Incapacity for Love

The guy who voted against providing just basic care for infants born alive if an abortion was botched so they could die cold and alone in a utility closet tried to accuse people of not caring about the children of Newtown.

    – Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

    – Callousness/Lack of Empathy

Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others’ feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

Bobby Jindal marvelled in a distress way that that Obama thought if “I give them” (Obam-me; to the iBama it’s always about himself) unemployment and food stamps the gulf oil workers he was putting out of business had nothing to complain about.

    -Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature

Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

    – Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency

Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet “gets by” by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

    – Irresponsibility/Unreliability

Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others,

It’s Bush’s fault. There was a tsunami in Japan. Blah, blah, blah.

…even for acts they obviously committed.

    – Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity

Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

    – Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle

Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.

    – Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility

Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

    Other Related Qualities:

    1. Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them

    2. Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them

    3. Authoritarian

    4. Secretive

    5. Paranoid

    6. Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired

    7. Conventional appearance

    8. Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)

    9. Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim’s life

    10. Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim’s affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)

    11. Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim

    12. Incapable of real human attachment to another

    13. Unable to feel remorse or guilt

    14. Extreme narcissism and grandiose

    15. May state readily that their goal is to rule the world

(The above traits are based on the psychopathy checklists of H. Cleckley and R. Hare.)

NOTE: In the 1830’s this disorder was called “moral insanity.” By 1900 it was changed to “psychopathic personality.” More recently it has been termed “antisocial personality disorder” in the DSM-III and DSM-IV. Some critics have complained that, in the attempt to rely only on ‘objective’ criteria, the DSM has broadened the concept to include too many individuals. The APD category includes people who commit illegal, immoral or self-serving acts for a variety of reasons and are not necessarily psychopaths.

Sure, Barack Obama doesn’t meet every criteria but I am sure not every sociopath does.

    Steve57 (234b9e)

  5. That was not an exhaustive fisking.

    Steve57 (234b9e)

  6. The not-really-a-shutdown may be taking a toll on the White House and Obama. Not only is Obama having to cancel trips and make do with reduced staff, his ability to leave the White House may be limited. This may be cramping Obama’s style more than anyone in Washington, and I’m not sure if he is emotionally equipped to handle it. We may see some lashing out soon if the GOP can hang on a few more days — especially if the media decides to cover his weekend golf game.

    DRJ (a83b8b)

  7. Obama is a sociopath? Given his utter arrogance and mendacity of inculcating things like the following — which is reminiscent of what happens when deranged tyrants are in charge of a society (hello, Hussein!) — he perhaps is closer to being a full-blown psychopath.

weeklystandard.com via drudgereport.com, October 4: On Tuesday morning, seven National Park Service employees were seen erecting and tending to a barricade around the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. One NPS employee was operating a forklift. There usually aren’t any NPS employees working at the World War II memorial.

A couple hours later, when an Honor Flight of World War II veterans arrived, accompanied by Democratic and Republican members of Congress, the fences blocking the memorial were easily moved away, allowing the veterans to enter.

But the barriers are still at the memorial, and they’ve been reinforced. This morning, I walked by the memorial and noticed that wires had been used to tie the fences together

    Mark (58ea35)

  8. 6. Impressive nonetheless.

Sufficient cause being son of teenage floozy and adulterous pederast. Deserted by mother on her transfer to college in WA, she abandoned him altogether at 10. He is then mentored in adolescence by his Communist poet of a father, the sire of 5 legitimate children.

His father’s drinking buddy is his ne’er-do-well grandfather who brought the pederast into his home to impregnate and corrupt further, his teenage daughter.

Not a stable beginning to a nihilists life.

  9. From DRJ’s link … the culinary options are limited. No soup for you.

    nk (dbc370)

  10. Speaking of the National Park Service, they’ve apparently shut down Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park.

Jiminy Christmas. I was being sarcastic when I said that I expected the next step in Obama’s jihad to involve throwing up barricade’s and employing armed guards to prevent me from using the interstates.

But, nooo! This Preezy is beyond parody. They are literally working overtime to prevent access to things they don’t normally staff. But now that the gub’mint is partially shut down, they’ve got extra staff to make sure you can’t use stuff you can normally use without government help.

I’ve noticed that reportedly the NPS has wired their barricades at the WWII memorial. So that now vets who used to be able to drive their wheelchairs down the sidewalk to visit an open air memorial once open to the public 24/7/365 because it didn’t need anyone to run it and besides they paid for it can’t get there.

Just a couple of days ago you could have shoved the barricades aside. Due to the government shutdown, the NPS has deployed troops to make sure you can’t shove those barricades apart without wire cutters, and no doubt they’re making overtime patrolling to make sure anyone with wire cutters gets arrested.

Only Barack Obama and his Koock Kounty Klown Kar Krew would think this is going to make Americans flock to his POV.

  11. But the barriers are still at the memorial, and they’ve been reinforced. This morning, I walked by the memorial and noticed that wires had been used to tie the fences together…

Sorry for being redundant. But in my defense some things are so gobsmackingly idiotic they certainly deserve to be pointed and laughed at more than once.

    Steve57 (234b9e)

  12. The thing about Obama is, he lies a lot – about public issues mainly – in fact his whole career might come close to consisting only of lies of one sort or another, although some probable feelings about a few things comes through, which he rareky cares enough to do anything not politically expedient about. He probably does care about preventing nuclear bombs going off.

But he tries to avoid turning that lying into personal hatred, with the partial exception of election campaigns, and even there he struggles to avoid his lying stimulating personal hatred.

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  13. But he tries to avoid turning that lying into personal hatred…

Since when? If you look at what he does and listen to what he says, as opposed to what Tingles Matthews and his other apologists try to tell you, he gives full rein to his personal hatred.

    Steve57 (234b9e)

This Rama Lama Ding Dong is coasting on the strength of the American people and America’s institutions. Empty suit? An ad poster of an empty suit.

    nk (dbc370)

  16. The nicest thing I can say about Obama is that he feels pity for people who disagree with him. But pity like that is cruel because it undermines respect.

You’re a sharp guy, nk, and I hope I never gave you the impression I ever thought differently.

What do you think was the objective of former KGB agent Putin’s mocking NYT Op/Ed?

    That’s a rhetorical question.

He used to turn these Obama types against the US for mother Russia, and the thing is those KGB types had nothing but contempt for the Western leftists they could turn against their country.

He had that Op/Ed published because not only is he wielding the pimp hand, he wants the world to know it.

I don’t think he fells pity. He’s lying most of then time. he knows he saying thinsg that aren’t true, if not the main point, teh way he develops it.

It’s rather he wants to avoid stimulating hatred so invariably he suggests some other reason other than his opponents being evil.

In a land that’s known as freedom how can such a thing be fair
Won’t you please come to DC for the help that we can bring

    (It’s dying)
Rules and regulations who needs them
    Open up the door

Somehow people must be free I hope the day comes soon
Won’t you please come to DC to show your face

Won’t you please come to DC no one else can take your place

It’s like this Koock Kounty Klown Kar administration thinks we’ll never figure out how parking lots work.

If you don’t have a bureaucrat getting a six figure salary due to the defunding, parking lots must close. Then the parking lot that is normally entirely untended will be staffed by bureaucrats with guns making five figures, to set up barricades and use force to keep you from entering a formerly open space.

You don’t see these government workers at these places when the government is open. But defund the government, and they crawl out of the woodwork.

This makes someone want to put these same people in charge of health care, how?

I earlier linked to a YouTube vid in which Rand Paul were caught on a hot mike discussing how awful it was for Obama to keep bragging about how he’s not going to negotiate. And by awful they meant politically for the President, because Rand Paul mentioned it couldn’t possibly have been poll tested. Because had they poll tested it, team Obama wouldn’t use it because like his health care law it sucks. Apparently they didn’t poll test it because they just assume a majority of Americans share their contempt for the country they want to fundamentally transform.

Because they hate it. That’s why they want to change it into something else.

Anyways, Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell went on to agree they’re confident they’re going to win this because Obama has responded to the defunding of Obamacare by acting like a total Richard Head.

And they’re not the only ones to notice.

Sarcasm and quips aside (from me or anyone else), the way that property has been handled in the most brazen way imaginable by government officials over the past few days, combined with the notorious Eric Holder still sitting pretty as Attorney General, combined with the ongoing shameless, corrupt nature of the IRS (eg, the recent example of Dr Ben Carson being audited), combined with all the dishonesty (including manipulative waivers) surrounding Obamacare — not to mention issues like Benghazi — truly go beyond the pale.

This is all possible because of us, the American electorate. It’s best symbolized by one very telling sign: The idiotic, immature emotions, attitudes and biases behind things such as their continuing to blame George W Bush (over 5 years later) for current economic problems. That and a majority of Americans continuing to express in polls overly positive opinions in general of Obama.

  103. When I point out the sentiment expressed by good portion of the public regarding issues like who’s most responsible for current economic weakness (and they blame Bush instead of Obama), the left-leaning idiocy behind that is a weakness of human nature that politicians like Obama know they can exploit for all its worth.

The following article, posted to a left-leaning website, loves to give a very ambiguous slant to who or what is truly behind the manipulation of the WWII memorial, and fools like interviewee Gary Gillhest eat it up (dollars to donuts that guy is of the left).

Politico.com, May 5: “I think it’s trashy politics if a politician is coming down to get publicity at a memorial that they have closed. I’m talking about both sides,” said Colonel Al Appling, a Vietnam War veteran visiting with his wife, Joan, from Miramar Beach, Fla.

D.C. resident John Aucott, who was at the memorial Tuesday when the first veterans moved the barricades, agreed that the political visits to the site and photo-ops are in bad taste.

“I’m so disgusted with that,” he told POLITICO. “I think the politicians who showed up here have some audacity.”

“I’m being silent. I’m not shouting,” he said, explaining that his intention was not to disrupt the veterans’ visits. “I just want to send a message to Congress, since they’re here, that they have a responsibility to fix this.”

“Oh yeah, they’re going to show up, they want to make themselves look like they care and they’re doing something. What are they doing?” said Gary Gillest, a Vietnam veteran who has visited D.C. several times with his friends in the Charlie Company 25th Infantry Division. “And look, there are tea party activists over there! I mean, they’re idiots.”

“They just want to get re-elected,” said Thomas Lepisto, who was traveling with the same group as Gillest.

Current opinion polls indicate a modest majority of respondents hold Republicans and not President “Goddamn America” and Democrats responsible for the shutdown, so, again, the idiocy of left-leaning bias is turning the US into a Banana Republic, sort of a northern version of Mexico and Argentina.
