Tennessee Anti-Free Speech Event Coverage
I was sent some photos by a reader from last night’s event about the federal government’s thoughts about prosecuting you for your inflammatory speech against Muslims. I called for citizen coverage of the event in this post. Some of them need to be rotated and I can’t figure out how to do that right now, so I may publish some later, but here is a shot of a protest outside the event:
Apparently Pam Geller and Victoria Jackson were both present, and the reader sent me some shots of Geller, which I will try to provide later.
The reader tells me she has video, which I asked her to upload to YouTube.
Bill Hobbs covered it; if you want details, check his Twitter account. He also promises a YouTube video later, and links local coverage here.
I’m sure we’ll be hearing much more.

I’m off to Manchester to hear an Obama appointee explain why it’s a crime to criticize Islam, a cult started by a mass-murdering pedophile.
First, I KNOW HE IS BEING “IN YOUR FACE”. But man, this is not just yanking the chain, it’s slapping the Rottweiler while covered in gravy.
nk (875f57) — 6/5/2013 @ 7:31 amislamists have opened themselves up to a lot of criticism by blowing people up all the time and generally acting like pigs what will rape anything that moves (for example like in Egypt)
but I don’t think there’s anything to be done for it they’ll just have to have a come to Jesus meeting among themselves
meanwhile there are worser places to be than tennessee in late spring
happyfeet (8ce051) — 6/5/2013 @ 8:01 amHere’s a very long article on Obama’s failed and disastrous Muslim outreach and foreign policy by Patrick Poole:

daleyrocks (bf33e9) — 6/5/2013 @ 8:02 amI often point to the case of Nidal Hasan because that is a perfect illustration of just how absurd, if not outright deranged, the system has become. Simply put, when the US military — and NOT the ACLU, the Rainbow Coalition, Green Peace, the NAACP, etc — is acting like an enabler to virulent anti-American sentiment within the confines of its own official setting, and still reacts that way even after a series of brutal murders have occurred under its own watch, one can say the jig is up, the game is over.
Jeremiah Wright was correct. America’s chickens are coming and have come home to roost.

— Fixed.

I’m not seeing much of a two way street out of this White House.
daleyrocks (bf33e9) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:02 amWhenever someone quotes Gandhi, I’m reminded that his favorite topic of conversation was bowel movements.
Rob Crawford (e6f27f) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:05 am== Together, we must work towards a world where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them. That is what America embodies, and that is the vision we will support.==
Lois Lerner missed that last part of the quote, daley. Course, since the president has speechwriters he prolly didn’t pick up that sentence’s significance from the fleeting moment that he saw it on the teleprompter screen either.
elissa (4d9fe8) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:11 amFrom the Tennessean article…
The article goes on to describe some of the disruptions.
I oppose heckling and disrupting speakers. It’s wrong when it disrupts conservative and pro-Israel presentations, and it’s wrong when it disrupts liberal and pro-Muslim speakers.
aunursa (7014a8) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:12 amAnd in connection with mentions of Gandhi, remind people that while he, personally, pretended to non-violence, he urged and exhorted his followers to destroy buildings, factories, warehouses and homes in India to express their dislike for the British rule. Notice that no one does that in Communist countries or the various secular dictatorships around the world; only in nations with what might be called a sense of decency or limits on government action.
Ike (a2a956) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:14 amaunursa,
I think Bill Hobbs said on Twitter that the heckling started after the moderator announced they would not be discussing the Facebook post that started this. I agree people shouldn’t be disruptive but I can see why they might be frustrated.
DRJ (a83b8b) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:24 amaunursa – One of the tweets I read said the audience booed the mention of Eric Holder’s name, which I thought was a nice reaction, although disruptive.
daleyrocks (bf33e9) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:28 amTogether, we must work towards a world where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them.
What the hell does that even mean? But it does sound pretty.

That becomes important as you grow older, Rob.
nk (875f57) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:29 amI’ve attended presentations in which conservative or pro-Israel speakers were continually interrupted. It’s very frustrating to those who came to hear the speaker(s). Please don’t excuse bad behavior by those on our side. Protests should be restricted to outside the hall.
aunursa (7014a8) — 6/5/2013 @ 9:39 amare the protestors are on “our side” per se?
I would think even lots of food stampers would want their first amendment rights respected by the piggy attorneys and fbi thugs at our corrupt and fascist “department of justice”

— It’s a platitude. All it means is ’embrace diversity’.
Icy (828f0f) — 6/5/2013 @ 10:11 amOf course, what Obama means is that our culture and society should become more accepting of Islam; the reverse? mmmm, not so much.
aunursa,
This blogger agrees with you and I basically do, too. But it nags at me that the US Attorney (Killian) would call a meeting to talk about free speech and why it’s a crime to criticize Muslims, but then refuse to talk about his comments that triggered this in the first place.
We should be respectful and courteous even when others aren’t, but Killian made it clear he wasn’t going to give any meaningful answers. The heckling wasn’t what made this a fruitless meeting. That happened when Killian decided to show up but say little or nothing of importance.
DRJ (a83b8b) — 6/5/2013 @ 10:26 amHow dare those people to assemble freely to petition their government for redress of grievances.
askeptic (b8ab92) — 6/5/2013 @ 11:17 amWhere do they think they are: America?
i see absolutely no reason to be courteous with those who would oppress and enslave me.
redc1c4 (403dff) — 6/5/2013 @ 2:37 pmI think this all means that Islam is a Religion of Peace. Or something.
Elephant Stone (6a6f37) — 6/5/2013 @ 2:43 pmget it right, Stone: Islime is the Religion of Pieces…
redc1c4 (403dff) — 6/5/2013 @ 2:51 pmI don’t condone disruption as a protest tactic, but there is a certain schadenfreude about seeing the tactic rebound upon them.
SPQR (768505) — 6/5/2013 @ 3:00 pmI’ve been checking on Youtube to see if I can find any links, so far I’ve found user UnitedWest has posted some clips from the meeting:

The link is to UnitedWest’s video page. If you set the filter from newest-oldest, you will see several new videos that cover the meeting.
