Some Obama Photoshops the White House Warned Us Not to Make or Publish
The White House recently warned American citizens not to Photoshop this photo, issuing a lawyerly pronouncement that said, in part: “The photograph may not be manipulated in any way“:
Is that so?!
Upon learning of the White House’s directive, I immediately announced a Photoshop contest, and published a couple of early entries. Since then, readers have been busy manipulating and Photoshopping in direct defiance of the White House’s orders, and seeking out others who have done the same. Good for you! Here are some entries.

I get that if it is an AP photograph or even one taken by a photographer who is paid by Obama for America, but what possible limitations can be placed on it when it is paid for by the public?
Except, of course, the obvious law that says you can’t hurt Dear Leader’s delicate feelings. Racists.

Works of the Federal govt itself are not copyrightable. Works by a contractor paid for by the Federal government can be copyrighted, but usually Federal regulations provides for the license of those works.

David Pittelli (7ad332) — 2/3/2013 @ 3:16 pmDavid, yes, you can find a lot of examples of shotguns ported that far back. The odd thing sticking out the muzzle is probably a choke tube that is extended but the coloration is odd.
Overall, there is something off about the photo but it just may be the timing of the exposure viz the moment of ignition.

As other commenters have pointed out, it belongs to the public domain, so there’s actually no grounds for “prosecution.”
The irony would be in the fact that there’s such a long list of important legitimate prosecutable violations that Holder refuses to pursue, yet there he is, throwing the book at a blogger for putting a funny hat on the President in a photo.
Then again, he’s the same Eric Holder who insists on visitors to the Justice Department providing a photo ID as proof of who say they are. Or something.

as i’ve said before, what bothers me about the port venting shown is that it isn’t symmetrical.
as for the volume of smoke, i do have an answer: Piers Morgan was there that day, and he and Obumbles were actually shooting muskets, not shotguns.
