Dead Pig Left at Republican HQ in Manhattan Beach

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 11:33 pm

Wearing a Mitt Romney T-shirt:

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KABC) — A dead pig clad in a Mitt Romney T-shirt was left at a Republican campaign office in Manhattan Beach.

Manhattan Beach Police had to discard the pig’s head and its feet in a trash bin, but not before several passersby saw it.

“I thought it was a dead body because of the way he approached it,” said Manhattan Beach resident Andy Gaeta. “And then when he lifted the shirt, he saw the head wrapped in barbed wire and it’s cut in half, the whole skull was. It looked like something from a butcher’s market.”

The pig was laid out at the doorstep of the Republican headquarters on Highland Avenue.

According to sources I just made up, Big Media types quickly agreed: The Republican Party needs to take a long, hard look at itself. When good Democrats are pushed to the point where they have no choice but to express their political views by slaughtering a defenseless animal and dumping it at their opponents’ front door — well, it really says something about the GOP.

I blame Bush.

It only takes one idiot to do something like this, but it takes a whole bunch of people to tolerate it.

  35. BTW, for all you Constitutionalst lawyers out there who belong/support the Federalist Society,
why do we not have a Federalist Party?
Wouldn’t that be the natural place for most of the TEA-Party types, plus the small-gov’t Libertarians?
Do we, as Republicans (I think I’m going to be a lapsed-republican if the words of our “leaders” on The Hill are representative of the direction of the Party in the immediate future) want to follow the DC-elites such as Mitch McConnell and John Boehner any longer?

  45. What is my crime? It is not my fault you guys are poor losers? I am really disappointed in you, Patterico; banning someone because you lost an election is not mature behaviour. I predicted this would happen. You guys had a clear chance of taking this from Obama but you decided to choose a candidate who has no standards. A man who would say anything to win an election. If you wanna know how to win the next a election, get the right candidate. The GOP has had this problem; you just keep picking the wrong guys and end up getting shot in the foot. There is really nothing wrong with your party, you just haven’t found someone who embodies what you believe in and is able to sell it to the undecided. Mitt was not the man. As a matter of fact I am not sure what party Mitt belongs to. Americans know a phoney when they see one. Get the right candidate and you’ve got 4 yrs to do that. Banning the Emperor because your candidate lost was really beneath you sir. And I say this with a lot of hurt.

If he’s resigning as a point-of-honor over his adultery – why didn’t he do it when it first ocurred?
    If it’s not a point-of-honor, why?
It sounds to me as if he wanted to respond to the charges leveled at the Intell Community over Benghazi, but was told to keep his yap shut by either the President, or the DNI.
This may just be his response to that muzzling.
He’s written a book before, the next one could be very interesting.

  71. This is more important than most assume.

The comparison of adversaries to a pig is Satanicly inspired. The devil loves the level of hatred that they have for us and gives them otherwise suburban wimps great ferocity.

  72. Hey, Republicans are not ALL old white men! Some of us are old white Ladies!

I think that Obama simply succeeded in the demonization of Romney before Romney was allowed under election law to spend his campaign war chest. While he was restricted to his primary campaign funds, Obama was able to use his general election funds to destroy Romney. This seems to be a huge flaw in our election campaign laws that disproportionally advantages any incumbent who does not face a primary challenge. I believe that this flaw is why Obama was able to run such an unbelievably negative campaign as an incumbent and still win reelection. Because he certainly did not offer a platform!
