Patterico's Pontifications

Join Patterico Tonight (Virtually) at the Romney/Ryan DFW Rally!

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:41 pm

I will be participating in some manner in this event, which will last from 5-7 p.m. Pacific (7-9 Central, 8-10 Eastern). It looks like there will be a “Google Hangout” attached to the rally, which I plan to embed here at the site. Panelists may get to ask questions of the speakers before/after they speak. I’m told Dick Cheney and Rick Perry will be in attendance. I will not be running the Hangout but I will be part of it (virtually, and voice only. Sorry, stalkers!)

Bottom line: if you have a question for Romney or Ryan, show up tonight and ask it — and it may get asked.

Again, details are fuzzy at this point. Just make sure you’re on the site tonight. We’ll all figure it out together.

  1. Good news! Tonight it will be Romney’s Pontifications. 🙂

My question is simple: how can people from outside swing states be most helpful? If we drive to a swing state, is there a dorm room or something that we can stay at?

  2. Here’s a question:

When you encounter fake peace plans, whether about North Korea, about the Iranian atomic bomb, about peace between Israel and its neighbors, or about crisis in places like Syria and the Congo, do you think you will play along unknowingly?

Or will you play along knowingly??

Or will you not play along at all?

Or do you not believe there is not any such thing as a fake peace plan?

Or perhaps that you can never tell and must always probe?

    If so, how long?

  3. If there is any seriousness to that question, Andrew, I think you could join up with somebody to make phone calls into a swing state.

  4. Sammy,

You might consider reading Rumsfeld’s book Known and Unknown.

This weekend will be my 2nd trip to Reno going door-to-door. The Romney campaign is bussing thousands of California volunteers each weekend to Reno and Las Vegas, and pays for our transportation, hotel, and food.

  6. Speaking of voting irregularities, which really never happen, O’Keefe and Co have a new video with the son of Moran from VA giving advice of how to do fraudulent voting.

I think I heard this mentioned by Rush.

  7. Actually hundreds of volunteers, not thousands.

  8. Did you see Sarah Hoyt’s comment on Instapundit about her family trying to reach the Romney / Ryan rally at Red Rocks in the Denver area? Red Rocks is a concert venue with a lot of parking. They overflowed it and hung up freeways leading to it.

I did not see that comment, but I heard they had such a big crowd they had to turn people away.

Looks like we have our own Rock Stars. 😉

  10. MD in Philly, recall that Obama couldn’t fill the original venue for his acceptance speech in NC…

  13. I always serve as an election judge at my local precinct and live in an area where residency is rather stable–so I’ve come to know a lot of people. Because in my state for primaries one must request either a Democrat, Republican or Green party ballot I also have a rough idea where people’s politics may lie. Over the past several days I’ve run into various neighbors at places like the gas station, library, grocery store, hair salon etc. When it seems appropriate I’ve asked in a friendly way if I’ll see them at the polling place on election day, and say something innocuous about hoping for good weather and a nice turnout. I cannot tell you how many have said, “oh, I will miss seeing you there because I’ve already voted”, or “I’m on my way over to early vote as soon as I finish up here.” One even laughed and said, “oh, Bill and I went to vote on the morning of the first day of early voting. We said if one of us dropped dead or got run over by a bus before Nov. 6 at least we’d have our votes in for Romney”.

That was a very edifying comment, Elisa. Thank you. Also, I will be using your comment about hoping for good weather and a nice turnout. I have had a hard time saying anything regarding voting without getting “killed” by people who think me the “enemy”.

  15. Is this going to be saved so we can view it later?

  16. Friends and members of our local Hispanic population in Louisville are telling me that the local Hispanic shows are telling their audience that if Obama is re-elected he promises to give all illegal immigrants– oh pardon me “undocumented workers”– a drivers license and other legal docs to become legal citizens. Garbage or another attempt at vote-buying?

You might consider reading Rumsfeld’s book Known and Unknown.

That might possibly answer the question about what Donald Rumsfeld would do, but not about what anybody thinks Romney or Ryan would do.

  18. And actually tell you nothing about whether somebody is quick to recognize a fake peace offer or plan, and how they would act in such a case.
