Patterico's Pontifications

Obama wants the power to take over the Internet — and he may try to do it by executive order.

Sikh temple shooting suspected identified. I’m sensing calls for a “new tone” just around the corner.

Obama has a “genuine disdain” for Mitt Romney.

Harry Reid’s Chief of Staff says these damned Republicans are cowards.

  1. New tone!

    Patterico (8b87cf)

  2. The new tone is that since this killer is white and former military, the media will join in a chorus of denunciation of the tea party, white supremacists, etc. It’s already termed domestic terrorism. But Hasan was workplace violence?

This too will blow up in their faces.

  3. “Who are these people to say Reid is not telling the truth?” Krone asked.

Who is Harry Reid to say that Romney is not telling the truth? I mean, does this guy even listen to the words that are coming out of his mouth?

  4. I believe Obama desperately needs the gay vote and he should spend at least $800 million to get it.

  5. Where is the National Enquirer on the misfeasances and malfeasances of Reid, Pelosi and Obama. Yes, I know they are not legitimate media nor is the blogosphere. But I recall they did have the Breck Girl’s number and managed to expose his sorry ass. The mainstream media had no interest in Silk Pony but ran with allegations of McCain infidelity.
So no one has interest in divulging what went on at that secret sheik fundraising thing nor what went on when Urkel was a member of a Chicago Gay Men’s Club? Were there not serious rumors about sodomy between the magic negro/messiah and male members of the Jeremiah Wright Church? When will Harry Reid come clean about his pederasty? Although I suppose it matters little what liberals do, given what has gone on in Massachusetts with the likes of Gary Butts, prostitution run out of Barney Franks’ basement or the exploits of Fat Teddy K.

  6. We’re all so tired of that fake disdain, yannow.

    Space Cockroach (8096f2)

  7. Oh, genuine disdain. That’s different.

I mean, I can ignore feigned disdain, of disingenuous disdain, or just a whole lot of lyin’ disdain.

But if it’s genuine, I’m going to take it seriously.

  8. I doubt that the media would begin complaining of The Imperial Presidency even if Obama outfitted the uniformed Secret Service in comic-opera uniforms; but, his obsession with accumulating power into the Executive is getting a little creepy.

  9. What are the odds he makes it legal for illegal aliens to vote by divine right imperial fiat executive order? If he thought it would help him win, about 100:1, if he thought there would be too much blow-back, not so much.

If the SS is too cheap to pay off a Columbian hooker, I’m sure they wouldn’t part with the kind of scratch it takes to dress as tastelessly as Mooch.

    $6,800?!? For THAT jacket?!

    So do many people.
From the article :“House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the Hill Republican he disliked the most,” “At least Cantor stood for something, he’d say.”

“When he talked about Romney, aides picked up a level of anger he never had for Clinton or McCain, even after Sarah Palin was picked as his running mate. ‘There was a baseline of respect for John McCain. The president always thought he was an honorable man and a war hero,’

Obamacare is based on Romneycare. And Romney isn’t even good at BS. I have no respect for any of them, Obama included (though I voted for him) but Romney takes the cake.

In short, still comatose would have you know Mitt Romney made money in Italy about a dozen years ago in a perfectly legal way, using perfectly common business practices.

But now Italy’s economy is about to tank.

    Suspicious, no?

Those evil Mormons? You want to know how they operate? OK, just between us; they buy low and sell high.

    Can you believe that crap?

So, still comatose has linked to a story about how Romney bought a company in Italy, then sold it. SOLD IT, I tell you! And even worse, he sold it for more than he paid for it.

Is that any way to run a business, I ask?

And now, as if that wasn’t enough to prove Romney was Judas Iscariot reincarnated, he sold it a dozen years ago for more money than the company is worth now.

Actually, I believe he sold it for more than the whole Italian economy is worth now. Clearly, the cancer of Mormonism is to blame.

Lorenzo Pellicioli, who became an investor in Seat and its CEO, recalled Romney stopping in on a meeting in Bain’s Boston offices about the pending acquisition.

“He came into the room, asked a couple of very sharp questions immediately, we shook hands and he left,” Pellicioli said.

  37. Sleepy,

Most politicians do engender anger in their opponents, so it’s not really a big deal.

Although Obama was advertised to be the new blood who was going to bring us all together and put the partisanship and politics of rancor aside.

    Oops !

Obama has been surrounded his whole life by angry people who have encouraged him to embrace his rage toward people who are most successful in society.

By the way, there’s only one Jewish Republican in the House (Eric Cantor) and that’s the Congressman who Obama is alleged to dislike the most—what a surprise. And Cantor is generally known to be a gentleman.

No wonder the Rashid Khalidi tape won’t ever be released. And no wonder why Obama has never visited Israel.

It does seem to be a pattern.

  39. Justice Department investigates Las Vegas Sands Corp.

The “justice” department is investigating another Romney donor.

First it was VanderSloot in Idaho. Now it’s Sheldon Adelson in Nevada.

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is investigating whether Las Vegas Sands Corp., owned by high-profile Republican donor Sheldon Adelson, broke federal law by failing to report millions of dollars of potentially laundered money transferred to its casinos by two high-rolling Las Vegas gamblers, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Now the evil Mormons have teamed up with the Jooooooz!

But don’t worry; the Obama administration is on the case. They will not rest until every potential Republican donor has been put through the inquisition!

No wonder they dropped the Black Panther case after they had won it. Because the Black Panthers are (a) Obama supporters and (b) small potatoes compared to the unholy trinity that is the Republican/Mormon/Joooooo consipiracy to destroy our historic first black president.

Clearly, we can’t waste time on Black Panther voter intimidation while our Dear Leader’s political enemies go uninvestigated, can we?

Like Joe the Plumber’s property tax bill, we need to air the dirty laundry of the enemies of the state.

Like Mitt Romney’s freshman report card? Did you know Mitt Romney did well, but not nearly as well as he could have if he applied himself? Definitely the man deserves our disdain. And then he actually followed that dismal performance up by making money in Italy without breaking any laws! Now, that’s just shady. And now this:

The Journal said there were no indications that the investigation included actions by Adelson, Sands’ chief executive and a major political donor for the Republican Party.

Aha! You know folks, where there’s this much smoke there’s got to be fire.

Except of course if you’re talking about any real estate deals that our Dear Leader did with any convicted felons or if you’re talking about how he launched his political career in an unrepentant terrorist’s living room or how he attended a church run by a ranting anti-American black supremacist for 20 years.

That would be guilt by association, unfair, and undoubtedly attributable to racism.

Best to focus on rumors of Mitt Romney’s multiple financial crimes that he may have potentially been associated with. And his weird cult. And his unsavory donors.

That, my friends, is relevant. Like his kindergarten attendance record…

    True.

It’s been a vicious four years. Everything was politicized and dishonest from day one of the Obama administration.

I empathize with folks like Leviticus who look at Romney and see just another damn politician. But Romney brings a lot to the table that Obama doesn’t. I think beyond the competence factor (Which is considerable), Romney simply won’t govern like a crook. He will probably be more moderate than I’d like, but he won’t fire IGs for making honest calls. He won’t run guns to terrorist drug lords. He won’t backstab our allies in passive aggressive fashion in a way that is pretty destabilizing.

President material? Not so much. Just another guy who would say or do anything to become President.

He is a former governor and quite a hell of a businessman. I cannot see how anyone who thought Obama was president material with basically no resume at all would say Romney isn’t President material with a drastically more impressive background.

I understand how the sizable Democrat constituency that has its collective hand-out for the gimme-gimmes finds him to their liking, but for the life of me, I can’t understand how productive people aren’t able to see right through his lies, his litany of broken promises and his half-assed political philosophy.

I can’t imagine anyone even hiring Obama for an executive position at any company that wasn’t intent on committing organizational suicide.

So, yeah, the NYT or MSNBC or CNN would hire him.

But if you actually wanted to survive and grow as a company? No way. But I can imagine hiring Romney.

I think that’s a no brainer, if you really needed the help and these guys were your only two choices.

Seriously, who here has ever been in a position to make hiring decisions can honestly say they’d hire Obama for anything in preference to Romney. You couldn’t even depend on Obama to answer the phones and make the lunch runs as office gofer.

Would be quite amusing if Lovey ends up in an Obama re-education camp.

  102. Steve,

Speaking of The Obamessiah’s less than impressive baseball skills, have you ever heard the audiotape of the interview that took place upstairs in the press box with Rob Dibble after Obama threw out that awful first pitch in his Mom jeans and White Sox hat on opening day, in 2010 ? After claiming to be a big White Sox fan “and a Southside kid,” he was literally unable to name a single player from the Sox teams, from when Obama was allegedly a fan growing up.

Here’s an excerpt from the transcript…

Obama: I’m a Southside kid, I gotta make sure [White Sox owner] Jerry Reinsdorf doesn’t get too angry with me.

Dibble: Having played with the White Sox for a short time, I know how the Cubs fans and White Sox fans go back and forth. Who was one of your favorite White Sox players growing up?

Obama: You know uh … I … I thought that … uh … you know … the truth is a lot of the Cubs I like too! But, uh … I did not become a Sox fan until I moved to Chicago. Because I uh . I was growing up in Hawaii so I ended up actually being an Oakland A’s fan.

  105. Elephant Stones, I loved that interview. In one sentence he’s a “Southside kid.” The next time he opens his mouth, he’s not. Then he sticks his foot into it.

This after everyone kept saying what a great speaker our newly minted President Teleprompter was.

You know the rest of the press was ready to turn on one of their own and dig into Dibble’s background if he even dared to ask who Obama’s favorite A’s were when he was growing up. How much you want to bet Obama couldn’t have even pulled Reggie Jackson’s name out of his butt if his life depended upon it?

    Steve57 (5797fd)

  106. Steve,

Yeah, I love how also claims to “like a lot of the Cubs, too !”—but then he fails to mention any of them.

Honestly, if he could have named any of the A’s from those World Series teams with Reggie & the gang, he would have. He just didn’t know any of their names, either. I mean, how do you forget names like “Rollie Fingers” or “Vida Blue” ? Seriously.

In July 2009, at the 40 year anniversary of the moon landing, he told an anecdote about attending a parade when the astronauts returned to earth, where people were waving American flags, and how he fondly recalls having sat perched atop his grandfather’s shoulders.

He would have been a week short of his eighth birthday. And he was known to be a fat kid. What eight year old fat kid sits atop his grandfather’s shoulders ? That’s ridiculous. If he had been 3 or 4 years old, ok, fine. But not eight years old—he’s way too big to sit on grandpa’s shoulders.
Also, he was in Indonesia in July 1969—he wasn’t even in Hawaii. So he wouldn’t have been with his grandfather at this alleged parade with American flags.

Just yet another fabrication from the Fabricator in Chief. He builds these fabrications by himself—the roads and bridges deserve no credit !

It’s hard to understand how anyone could want another four years of Obama. Romney is a no brainer improvement.

I was talking with a dyed-in-the-wool liberal/Democrat several weeks ago and he said that he wouldn’t be as underwhelmed by Romney if the guy were philosophically very clearly defined, or presumably very conservative. I quietly snickered at that claim, knowing full well that a very leftwing person in general won’t be happy with any politician who isn’t also of the left. Although to give the person I was debating with some credit, I do recall about 2 years ago his being rather passive or neutral about the topic of Ronald Reagan and, at the same time, sort of spurning Jimmy Carter. IOW, I think the power of personality also affects the way a good number of people — regardless of their ideology — perceive someone else, politicians included.

For Obama to be even sort of competitive in the upcoming election will indicate that this nation’s electorate has become quite leftwing — moronically liberal — even more so since he’ll be running against a very philosophically pliable, non-rightwing Republican. IOW, it won’t be a mainstream or “red dog” Democrat versus an ultra-conservative Republican, but Barack “Goddamn America” Obama on the ballot against Mitt “Massachusetts-vetted” Romney.

Or Catfish Hunter. How do you forget Catfish Hunter? Bob Dylan wrote a song about him; Joe Cocker and Kinky Friedman recorded it.

Of course, Obama wouldn’t have picked Catfish as a favorite anyway what with him appearing in all those gunrag ads for the Remingtong model 1100.

I think that’s probably what we already learned in 2008. We elected someone who simply wasn’t prepared, on a platform of vagueness. And the deficit has alarmed many, but not nearly enough people, considering what it really means.
