Judicial Recommendations

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:52 am

My principal recommendation on judges: Eric Harmon.

I have known Eric Harmon for about nine years, since we were in Central Trials together in the District Attorney’s Office. He was always a star in the office; he was an expert at Power Point before most people were using it, and took on very tough cases with great results. He is a highly skilled trial attorney who is currently in the prestigious Major Crimes Unit.

But what I liked about Eric most was that he is not full of himself. He doesn’t talk about his own accomplishments. Nothing fazes him; he has a relaxed and even demeanor at all times, no matter how much stress you know he is under.

Eric will make a fantastic judge and I support him strongly.

For what it’s worth, Eric has also been endorsed by the Los Angeles Times, the Met News, District Attorney Steve Cooley, Sheriff Lee Baca and over 50 Superior Court judges.

The Los Angeles Times said Eric “is the best candidate in this race because he is the one with the right demeanor, skills and experience for the job,” while the Met News wrote: “Unflappable, articulate, succinct, sincere, dedicated, giving, and knowledgeable, Harmon is ideally suited for a judicial career.”

And I hesitate to mention this, as some are skeptical of bar recommendations, but: the Los Angeles County Bar Association has rated Eric “Well Qualified” to be a Superior Court judge.

As for other candidates: Sean D. Coen is a fellow gang prosecutor who has a good reputation. Shannon Knight is also a colleague with a good reputation, but so is Andrea Thompson. James Otto is the presiding judge at my courthouse in Long Beach and does a good job. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

  6. Office #10 – Sanjay T. Kumar is being challenged due to his foreign sounding name. He is much more qualified than his challenger and should be supported too.

This is a lesson for everybody: Be very careful about voting early. You don’t find out a lot of things until the last day – or even later.

Dude, you just cited the recommendation of the LA Times… and you’re worried about the negative side of a recommendation by a bar association?

  13. note to those of you who vote absentee, for future reference:
you can drop your ballot off at ANY polling place, and have them put it in the box for you.

that way the USPS can’t lose it.

  14. BTW, isn’t that Senate ballot wonderful? Gotta love what happens when reformers get their way. Meanwhile there is still no real opposition to folks like Maxine Waters, but maybe that’s because she’s a moderate and all.
