Newt may be willing to make John Bolton Secretary of State — but if he’s still going to go along with this farce, he’s a fool.

  1. I’m over Gingrich. He’s a pompous little troll, and if nominated, would be his own worst enemy. He can’t resist bombast- and that bombast would turn off a lot of voters ripe to be flipped to the Red Team in 2012.

  8. Trump is undeniably a pompous ass who enjoys being a celebrity. But as JD said above how is he somehow any worse than the pompous asses who have pretended to be journalists in the quote-unquote-real debates so far? I would bet that if the debate goes on as scheduled the dialog that ensues will be at least as informative and offer even more insight into the candidates’ personalities than the biased rehashes and gotchas we’ve endured from the networks. Also, a somewhat different demographic might actually tune in to Trump than have watched the mighty Scott Pelleys and Wolf Blitzers, etc. Is that really all bad?

  9. Why is this debate different from all the other debates of the year? Why should anyone be boycotting it? If some candidates think it’s not worth their time, so be it, but why does that reflect on those who decide that it is?

    Though I still haven’t seen a good answer why Trump is a worse choice of moderator than many “professional” journalists have been.

    Personally, I really do think Trump is worse. Yeah, the MSM’s biased goofballs are aggravating and unfair, and these debates wind up being about the issues the democrats want us to talk about, instead of the issues that matter most.

    But Trump might actually run third party. I think he’s actually managed to outdo the MFM on this one.

    There’s a lot of reason to not be so aggravated about it. Believe me, I have seen the media try to pick our leaders too, and also been annoyed, but it’s not working.

    The blogosphere largely liked Perry (and some Cain) and the MSM likes Romney, but … it’s the voters apparently don’t care what the media thinks.

    At the very least, I take solace in how people are thinking for themselves.

  24. I love that Trump pushed the birth certificate issue to the point where it really flashed and flared and then Obama was forced to do what he should have done years earlier, and just resolve the damn issue as best as he can.

    Cynically, I think Obama wanted that to wait so the GOP nominee would have to awkwardly deal with both sides of the issue.

    Hot Air has Bachmann positioning for a surprise in IA avoiding the unnecessary pub. I think she knows she be stuck with walking the plate of cookies.

    Matt Lewis, the blogosphere’s EPW, has Romney on conference calls with Mother Jones, CBS, Time, TPM, et al., directing fire. Mitt has no freaking clue.

    And I consider anyone who gives a @#$% for SPLC’s opinion to be an idiot. SPLC is a pure money-making operation. The only thing it’s good for is that if someone is anywhere to its right, and it hasn’t managed to find a reason to condemn them, then they must really be squeaky clean.
