  6. Patrick did a very good job tonight.

  7. Why the frisk does everything on this story happen in the middle of the night?

    just sayin’

  8. As with the Palin hacker in ’08, it is time for some people to get locked up, and find out that actions do have consequences.

Who was hacked in this debacle?

    Susie Q (653074)

  10. Consequences for filing a false police report, I would think.

  11. I still believe that more than one person was using some of these accounts or were operating “on behalf” of one or more of the accounts.

  12. Lee did a lot better on this show (hosting wise). Sounds like he has this mystery all figured out. It should be an interesting few days.

  13. Agree, compliments to all 3 on show.
Sorry I didn’t call in but didn’t know what to add at that moment…like AZ, I was interested in what news you guys had.

  14. So, GennetteC encourages Nikki to connect with Weiner via Twitter, thus exposing a minor child to what her very liberal parents consider disturbing, private communication from said congressperson.

Hadn’t GennetteC been warned by others on Twitter that the congressperson was a perv before encouraging Nikki to connect with him?

    Do I have this right?

  15. Oops…wrong thread. Sorry.

  16. Was a little frustrated that Patrick hadn’t actually seen Colby’s “timeline” of Tommy’s reporting – that is one sign of what an unmitigated sucker Tommy was.

Accusations made, the accusers” are caught in a flat lie, and make the lamest possible fix that is completely inconsistent with the DM’s to Stack.

Why he was not more suspicious I will never understand. He has a J card and everything.

  17. After hearing the radio show, I am a bit concerned that Patrick allows this guy Lee to post. He is not as careful as Patrick is. In fact, just listening to him, it seemed that, at times, he makes statements that appear to have no back-up.

He was also hawking for money on this site awhile back … I mean, what is he doing posting on this site?

  18. I mean, what is he doing posting on this site?

    A very good question…

  19. Anita, I was reacting strongly to some of those same issues, and I think they go a bit farther than you realize. And then when I talked to a few others about it, I realized I was guilty of underestimating the intelligence of the audience here, as nothing I was complaining about was a surprise to any of them.

I can’t answer why he’s posting here, obviously, but I don’t think he’s fooling anyone. I’m glad this police report was corrected, as he doesn’t deserve that kind of reaction when he’s really no worse than the kind of character we are all used to in the MSM anyway.

  20. Why the bitching about lee?

    Temper Tantrum (02fe1b)

  21. Sockery is afoot.

    SarahW (af7312)

  22. Temper, I’m trying really hard to take it easy on him. I just think Anita’s instincts on this are similar to mine.

Anyway, bottom line: people have different expectations and tastes. Lee had a chance to explain his part of this on this blog, which I think is neutral ground, but would prefer any discussion about this to occur on his radio program, so I don’t think this discussion can be resolved. And that’s OK. He’s doing a lot of good, but some people take exception here and there.

Just be wary to some extent. And of course the really important part of this story is not Anita or my criticisms of any journalist, but the story.

Anyway, I’d love to give you a more direct answer, but I was asked to ‘take it easy’, and I said I would so just use your best judgment.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  23. Dustin

Who asked you to take it easy and when were you being rough or did I miss something?

    Oh well

    EricPWJohnson (d84fb0)

  24. Who asked you to take it easy and when were you being rough or did I miss something?

The last thing I want to do is be dramatic about this. Patterico asked me to do my best to get along with his friend Lee, and I’m a guest here, so though I am actually very proud of my criticism of Lee, I don’t think my rather obnoxious promise to repeat that criticism 500 times would be fair to Patterico, who is a gracious host to say the least.

And most of the people I’ve talked to about this off blog didn’t think I was mentioning anything they didn’t already agree with.

Anyway, it’s not as important as ‘Betty’ calling the police to lie about Lee, who does not deserve anything like that kind of attack despite having human imperfections or perhaps a little more, mileage varying.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  25. Also, I’m sure you all noticed, but during the John Reid thread, “someone” was constantly asking Mr. Reid to go on Lee’s radio show. Seemed a bit odd to me. We’ve already seen that Lee is a self-promoter. I think Patrick is solid in wanting facts with back up documentation. From what I heard on the radio show, just didn’t seem to be the case with Lee. Patrick is in a league above to me.

    Anitabusch (a025dd)

  26. Hasn’t lee got the most solid story for now?

    Temper Tantrum (02fe1b)

  27. Anita–

Patterico is a brilliant and careful attorney and Lee Stranahan is a very smart free spirit. However, both of them, from somewhat different directions and with decidedly different skill sets have done much to move this aspect of the Weiner story forward and (we hope) to a conclusion.

Additionally, Lee is working on a couple of other stories/projects that many of the regulars at Patterico are quite interested in. Patterico asked Lee to post as a guest here and Patterico gave him the necessary site access so that Lee can do so. Lee (and his cat) gets some grief here. But it appears that most of us are quite happy Patterico brought Lee and his perspectives to the site.

    elissa (5e485d)

  28. I actually agree with Elissa to the extent that it’s nice to have divergent styles and skill sets. At any rate, it’s amazing how different their approaches have been.

One has an extremely open source approach, with virtually no conclusions provided unless you read into the questions. The other has the exact opposite, often relying on promises (which I believe) that he’s got secret information he isn’t sharing with us, and a ton of conclusory analysis that skips the details or even doesn’t seem have them all the time.

I’m not sure most of us are ‘quite happy’ however, with every aspect of this. Anyway, best to be careful with both approaches.`

    Dustin (c16eca)

  29. ==”someone” was constantly asking Mr. Reid to go on Lee’s radio show. Seemed a bit odd to me”==

Anita–My take was that Mr. Reid was being goaded to show “his” voice. The radio show with a call- in capability was on at the same time “John Reid” was answering questions via written blog comments. People were also urging a video chat between Mr. Reid and Patterico for the exact same reason, I thought.

    elissa (5e485d)

  30. I really wish Reid had called into the show. And insofar as Lee is not hiding the fact he’s promoting himself, I don’t see the slightest problem with that. That’s actually very honest of him. All the other people involved in this, Ms Preston et al, have the exact same motivation, after all.

Save your powder for me, remember not everyone is me 🙂

but I understand what you are saying though and even when you are curing me I do think about what you say….

    now about Palin…
