The Owner of the Nikki Reid Account Speaks Out
This post will reveal the first batch of alleged direct messages and e-mails from Gennette Cordova to Nikki Reid.
There is much more coming. This is just the initial batch. Perhaps the most interesting line I see is Gennette telling Nikki on June 6:
Hey. I’m not supposed to talk over messages anymore. If you want my number/you’re able to call, let me know.
Here is a screenshot of the DM:
Oh . . . there is JohnReid9’s statement that the DMs from Gennette Cordova regarding flirting with Weiner are genuine. I forgot about that part. We’ll get to that.
Before we get into the messages themselves, I want to provide you with some background. It’s my intention to tell you, not just what I know, but also what I do not know, about the person who is sending me this information.
Last night I was in conversation with a person who claims to be the father of Nikki Reid, the name used by the person who contacted Tommy Christopher shortly after the scandal broke, to tell Christopher that she had been hassled by a group of right-wingers led by Dan Wolfe. Nikki is the “Betty” from Tommy Christopher’s “Betty and Veronica” story, which (while flawed) is required background reading to understand any of this. On Twitter, the person who claims to be Reid’s father goes by the name “JohnReid9.”
I should pause here to say that, while I will refer to him as “Reid” in this post, I have not talked to him on the phone or by Skype. I do not know whether the person sending me this material is an Internet jokester, or the actual father of a young girl. I might have an opinion, but I am not going to share it, because my opinion is not really relevant. The bottom line is: I am not going to pretend that I know things, when in fact I don’t. I am not going to try to dress up my opinions as facts and pass them off on you.
I will simply tell you what I know, and what I don’t know, and let you make up your mind.
Here’s what I do know: There is considerable evidence that the JohnReid9 account that sent me this material is the account that “Nikki Reid” used after she abandoned the “starchild111” Twitter account. I know that in part because Gennette Cordova admitted on Twitter last night that the John Reed account is the account that “Nikki” used to contact her:
Although I have redacted e-mail addresses from the material I am publishing here, I can confirm that the e-mail address used by Gennette in the e-mails Reid has sent me matches the e-mail address used by GennetteC in recent comments here. (I have e-mailed Gennette at that e-mail address to open a conversation and allow her to respond to this post, but she has not responded — which I expected, since in the past she has disdained responding to my questions, claiming I am not a “reputable journalist.”)
Ah, but how do we know that the GennetteC who comments here is the real GennetteC? Well, putting aside the tone of the comments, which I believe matches the tone of her Twitter messages, I can tell you that the IP address for GennetteC’s comments resolves to Bellingham, Washington. That’s where she lives. And GennetteC told us in one of her comments:
So this is where Nikki got her picture? Interesting. She made up a long story about the dog in the picture… his name was Max, named after her dog that she had before him who died.
She said that this morning. JohnReid9 last night sent me a direct message from Gennette to Nikki in which Gennette proves her bonafides to Nikki by saying Nikki’s dog’s name is Max:
Last night “JohnReid9” went on the attack on Twitter, raging against Gennette Cordova and Jen Preston of the New York Times. Like me, JohnReid9 complained that Preston asserted Nikki was collecting information “against” Rep. Weiner, when in fact (JohnReid9 says), Nikki has always supported Weiner. Among his milder messages to Preston were these:

Regarding Gennette, JohnReid9 complained that Gennette was lying when she said she suspected Nikki of being fake. JohnReid9 threatened to publish Gennette’s alleged communications with Nikki.

Late last night, JohnReid9 agreed to allow me to publish those communications. This is the first batch.
I am going to let the information speak for itself. Whether you believe that “JohnReid9” is who he says he is, or some kind of hoaxster, this is news, either way. I caution you not to reach any judgments until you have read everything he sends me, and have looked at his tweet stream from last night, in which he answered several of the questions people have had about his role in this matter.
What follows is the initial batch, which purports to be a set of communications from Gennette to Nikki after the scandal broke. In each case, to see the full screenshot more clearly, you will have to click on the screenshot, and open it in its own screen.

Gennette proves it is really Gennette by showing her knowledge that Nikki’s dog is named Max:
Keep in mind that, according to GennetteC’s comments, the dog in question is the dog from that phony photo that accompanied starchild111’s Twitter account.
That photo, as well as the photo of Nikki’s friend Marianela, has been shown to be a photo taken from elsewhere on the Web, as Joe Brooks revealed on Twitter and I posted here last night.

As the professional journalists say: Gennette Cordova could not be reached for comment.
So. There you have it. Some of it, anyway.
Reid promises me much, much more. He has already sent me some messages from “Ethel” that I have not had time to redact and present. And he says a lot more is on the way. Indeed, as I have been drafting this post, my gmail account has been lighting up with new e-mails allegedly showing direct messages from “Ethel” to Nikki.
. . . and from Anthony Weiner to Nikki.

UPDATE: In case there is anyone reading this who doesn’t already know this: Nikki Reid’s family provided fake IDs to Tommy Christopher. I assume everyone who has read this far knows that, but it’s good to remind people of the basic facts. I will try to get JohnReid9 to talk more about that on the record in coming days.

I don’t think it’s really possible to prove these aren’t forged. Anyway, we know Cordova is reading this blog, and that she’s been emailed by Patterico about this. I don’t think she’ll deny the authenticity, which is ultimately the best we can hope for for verification.
These don’t make Cordova look as bad as I was expected based on Reid’s tenor. Anyone else have that impression?

I will say that the captioned tweets almost have to be cut and pasted, because the first one cuts off mid-sentence.

And okay, i have lost the plot a little on this, but… isn’t nikki reid at least partially a fake name? like maybe a real teenager, under a fake name? or at least giving out false personal data.

M, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be mistaken or lie about it for some unknown reason, though. ‘They came to me’ made it sound like the story just dropped in his lap. If Tommy sought them out, this does make fakery seem less likely, so I can see why a hoaxer would want to lie about it (in other words, the potential motive for a potential hoaxer to lie is obviously a lot stronger)

Real or fake, I’d say it’s a given that all the anonymous folks in this circus are of the left, the head clown, Anthony Weiner, not included. Such an assumption would be tentative if Weiner himself weren’t so brazen and shameless about his behavior. IOW, if someone wanted to smoke him out, and had an ulterior motive to do so (ie, anti-liberal sentiments) — and Weiner’s MO was very subtle and secretive — then perhaps that person might be of the right. Or someone who’d be forced into a doing a contortionist routine in order to make Weiner look bad, or forced into covering his or her tracks after attempting such a maneuver.

This is just forwarded Twitter notifications, so that’s relatively solid.
Whoever is upset with Cordova might be elusive about their ID, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t proving something.
Maybe I recall wrong, but weren’t there so many youtube links to Weiner and other references that it was practically impossible to miss which married man she was talking about?

Twitter does not offer email notifications of your side of a DM conversation. It gives you no way of keeping an official record of what DMs you sent from your account.

Caches of Betty/Starchild111’s Twitter account seem to show that the dog picture wasn’t always there. Remember – that account has been around in some form since at least 2010.
At one point, Starchild111 used clipart of a field of stars instead. One good question – perhaps one Gennette or johnreid9 or goatsred knows – is WHEN the Starchild111 photo was changed. The date could be relevant, particularly if it was done just before contacting Gennette, Ginger or RepWeiner – or afterwards.

In the earlier post, assuming the cache was not somehow faked, I asked Gennette to explain who was “help working to defend” her and “set the record straight”. If Nikki/johnreid9, how? I suppose Gennette might not have seen it.
This is particularly strange since Betty’s notification of Veronica’s double dealing didn’t happen by e-mail until June 1 – though we don’t have all the DMs or facts yet.

Whew!! Then, NYT Jen, liberally quoting Gennette, writes the article about fake IDs saying there are no girls and no mama, etc.
Does center stage “Mama” take umbrage at this outrage, call Jen out, and accuse her and Gennette of being liars and misrepresenters? Why no, she. does. not. What “Mama Reid” does do is disappear from the scene entirely and has now apparently relocated to nowheres ville. Put another way, Center stage “Mama” has exited stage left.
BUT a few days later there is a replacement in the play. “Papa Reid” shows up center stage essentially playing the same character “Mama” did earlier to “answer questions”. He’s now leading the charge to defend and explain and protect his innocent and maligned angel, along with Rep. Weiner, and is willing to go to great lengths to do so.
I agree with the multiple commenters here who have already pointed out that “parents” seeking publicity not once, but twice, under the guise of protecting their “daughter” is total BS. Any normal family (if they really existed) would either go to ground–or would sell their story to the National Enquirer. The only reason both “Mama” and “Papa” and Gennette are interjecting is to deflect the investigation away from something and toward another direction entirely. There’s definitely a lot more to the Weiner saga, but all this too clever by half spinning–multiple fake personalities–and j’accuse stuff is just silly and amateurish.

Then there’s an omitted email where she again asks me if I said she was fake… that’s what my “email me so we can figure out a time to talk” email was responding to.
She never followed up to get my number… and she never contacted me after that. They knew I knew.

So the DM timestamp is Pacific time. But, based on the time zone Rocksem told me he was in, that means the the DM timestamps are regularized to Pacific time regardless of the time zone of origin.

With all due respect, Gennette, that’s called compartmentalization. As an aspiring journalist surely you must know that a good writer has to first learn about all the players and possible motivations in order to fully understand the story. This is what informs and captures the reader’s interest. To engage the audience a writer has to dig deep into the weeds and tell the whole interconnecting story, warts and all, not just write to satisfy the author’s own personal needs to vent or to expound an agenda.

Look, it is ABSOLUTELY fair to start with the presumption that the Reid personas are contructs and liars with agenda unknown, and I most certainly do. A catalogue of reasons seems shockingly unecessary.
The only value in dealing with them is to shake out their origin (less important) and to find out what efforts Weiner took upon himself to stamp out his fire and what assistance she might have given hime or others gave her in putting forward his interests.
Genette is operating under a lot of denial about what just happened and about how much control she has over the situation. I won’t write a treatise on it unless I am required to submit a proof to draw an obvious conclusion.
Ok, I’ll write a treatise:
HELL YES she is evasive.
1. young and green and full of herself, she thinks she can control the message.
2. She Is actually in what psychologists term denial about the skeeviness of Weiner’s interest in her
She’s bright and interested and an up and coping journalist with progressive ideals. Why wouldn’t he be interested in his young follower. He was interested in her for the same reasons she gets other unwanted male attention that is such a mystery to her, and men often find a girl’s friendliness or simply being attractive is encouragement enough.
3. She is also in denial about how unbelievably rotten he is, and to the core of his soul and not because of any speciic political position he espoused, but because he is actually a vicious character.
(Read her minimizing of his conduct, especially with regard to herself, the display of his erection on a public social network. She tries to limit the effect of his conduct to herself. As if her mild reaction and her acceptance of apology makes any other objection ridiculous. No one should care, she announces.)
4. She tried to manage something and it got out of her control. She is still hanging on to whatever control she has.
I’m not going to say, If she had any sense, she’d just let it all hang out. Whatever you may believe is *right*, and would clear the story up, it’s perfectly true that people are often never forgiven for telling the truth, and I think you are all perfectly aware of who would never forgive her.
She probably thinks it was right to guard Weiner to some extent, but knows it looks AWFUL.

My gut feeling says everyone in this story is lying but for entirely different reasons. I think the email conversations come across as guarded (Gennette) and prying (Nikki). The structure of the email sent by Nikki screams adult for some reason. I could be wrong but each line being spaced just seems out of place.
What I find the most odd about Gennette is that she’s passing up on possibly the biggest story of her lifetime. Opportunity knocked and she didn’t answer the door. What did Weiner offer? Weiner’s PR firm never spoke to her? Is that the official story we’re getting? Does anyone work at a PR firm to find out if that’s normal operating procedure?
I still want to know what the “joke” was that brought about the now infamous tweet.

The dicktweet picture as sent to GC was upside down and AW referenced “manipulation” of the picture oddly in the certitude interview (or other interviews around that time). What if AW rotated the picture 180 and sent it as a “joke” to GC never intending her to know it really WAS of AW (though he would have revealed that later if she was receptive as she is over 18).
IF AW was in some non-sexual irregular contact with GC, it would also explain 545 hashtag shoutout.

Given that one thing that can be stated with full confidence is that Weiner is forward in his conversations with young buxoms, more so than THEY believe they have solicited.
Whatever the spoke of that evening, fakey hoaxters she was ostensibly saving him from were a part of the context of their dealings with each other. He might have taken advantage of the context of their discussions to fulfill his impulses. – for example, he might send and if GC is more befuddled than pleased, say “lets give them something to talk about, hahahahah”. or something along those lines.
Or, he might have meant to entrap his trappers somehow, an associate that previously distributed photo, to a hoax. I don’t really think he was thinking that far ahead, though.
I tend to think he called it a joke because he was trying to walk back or deflate his use of the word “hack” and imply is was one of those jokey FB-sabotage jobs.

GC sends info on a sock interaction victory and he sends a boner picture suggesting her good work just gave him a boner! HA HA get it? It’s his jokey little way of engaging her sexually now, making the leap and theoretically initially sent as a joke since they weren’t sexing back and forth, Yet! At least in his spin cycle mind.And if he could have tamped down all the other sexter ladies and girls I bet a million he not have resigned.
Anyhow, it’s a theory. It somewhat fits b/c his original tweet to her was just a link with no comment.

GC’s story as relates to details has continued to, to put it nicely, evolve day to day from the start of this. Frankly if those DM caps where GC expresses admiration for AW are real, and she has not disavowed them, then it seems GC involvement with AW is very similar to what Ginger Lee described. The idea that GC is supposed to be accepted simply on her word, and especially when that word conflicts with released information, ended awhile ago.

Why bother commenting on this post? We have a Journalist with a capital J on the case now! Jen Preston/NYT, who said there was evidence that “self-described conservatives “ were behind an effort to collect info to use against RAW. She didn’t explain why she thought that – it fit her narrative so she printed it. And hasn’t printed a retraction or clarification, that I’ve seen.
And our intrepid Jen Preston called out Patterico just this morning – at 8:47 am:

But Patterico specifically said that he hadn’t talked to “John Reid” on the phone or by Skype – he didn’t know if he was a real father or a jokester – and he warned his readers that he was simply going to report what he knew, and what he didn’t know – and he wasn’t going to offer opinions. Yet Jen Preston mischaracterized what Patterico did – publicly.
And then we see in the comments that Gennette states that she’s already released all of her e-mail msg’s (#146): “I released ALL of the e-mails to someone” and later (#162) “The whole story has been told all of the proof has been shown. Will it ever all be public? I’m not sure”.
Now, who do you think she released the correspondence to? Not Patterico, obviously. Andrew Breitbart? Prudence Paine? Nah …. I would just bet that Jen Preston has them. And we’re supposed to trust JP to tell the whole story? Sure. And don’t you think that JP must have been in touch w/ RAW, or his representation, whether legal or PR, by now? Yes. Preston has her own conclusions already and has been out there with many, many snarky tweets. She’s got spunk. In a way it’s endearing, even if it’s wrongheaded. She also has a lot of influence…her headlines and first paragraphs drive the tone of a slew of other media pickups on this story. And Joan Walsh likes her reporting.
Reid’s story is that the names are fake and IDs were fake because family is already being treated cruelly even without being known.
Patterico is in the process of putting out the info in full and leaving it to the readers to see if they want to believe Reid’s story or not.
Certainly it’s ok to have interim theories of what happened..but none of us knows it all yet.. the best final conclusions will come after as much evidence is out there as possible. And it is evidence. Gennette has confirmed that. And it’s evidence that Preston doesn’t have.
A jury has days when it’s thinking “guilty as hell” and others when it’s “innocent! let’s go home dammit!”…but the judge has them wait for all the evidence and arguments and instructions are presented before they can deliberate. That process doesn’t apply here. (What fun would that be?)
But in this case the evidence would never even be published if someone weren’t willing to withhold judgement until after it’s all been read and thought about. And that someone is Patterico.

Sounds about right. Earliest tweets I have from Marienela date from 5/13, and total “Tweets” on cache page show that 5/13 would be earliest of her tweets. Cache of nikki twitter page shows Marienela only among her most recent follows as of 5/17. Seems to me the plan to create Marienela was dreamed up about 5/13, as Nikki never referenced her before but did mention her to @gingerlee on 5/13. So it would make sense that Nikki avatar switched around same time, as socks would know AW would be attracted to that avatar over the star avatar.

Some possible evidence in support of Milowent’s (#17) “calling out” explanation of Weiner’s tweet about facebook. When “Veronica” was DMing Mike Stack, she told him that Weiner was “accusing her.” If this is true, then what, exactly was Weiner accusing her of?

Remember how people criticized the NYT for only presenting partial info? Well, we have no idea if “Reid” is providing the full context. In fact, Patterico says that he “redacted” emails from John Reid, despite previously saying that he would publish the full information, and GC seems to suggest that these emails include important context.
In my opinion, a much better way to do this would be to just block out the names and then post the full information. If Patterio is selecting what gets “redacted” and how all of the information is organized, and this is after John Reid has already presumably selectively edited his part, then it’s not really true that we’re getting “just the facts.” We’re getting an interpretation of selected “facts.”

Reid wanted Nikki’s email address to be redacted.
Gennette’s email address is also redacted.
Those are the only thinks I’ve noticed that were obviously blocked.
Patterico got a bunch of emails forwarded essentially, so they had to be put into some kind of order to make sense and the email addresses covered.

He’s promised to give 100% of the emails, unedited, instead of giving us selected facts. Patterico has always held up his end on those sorts of promises. I don’t think he has the slightest inclination to spin this, and wants you to be able to see the evidence and make up your own mind.
But anyway, I totally agree with your principle, and I think that is the best way to contrast Patterico’s handling against the NYTs.

I read this whole thread, I think Gennette is bright and attractive but young enough to think she can fool all the people all the time.
I also think that Patterico is taking a page out of Breitbart’s Acorn playbook (detailed in his book if you haven’t read it, I recommend it). The strategy is to release the information slowly, get the guilty to go on record denying it and then drop the hammer. I’ll be watching tonight for the next update!!

Actually, it was Marianela telling Stack that Betty was being accused by him (Weiner).
The way I’ve read it (especially in light of his snarky (paraphrasing) “Yeah right, high school girl fan who doesn’t even know I have a FB account” I conclude He was likely accusing Nikkiperson of not being on the up and up.

That’s a question I asked up in #112. In #314, Millowent said around May 13 or 14, around the same time Betty and Veronica tweeted Archie about the baseball game. My guess is that’s right, though there is a FriendFeed Page, apparently from some time after May 18, showing the stars avatar. The latest tweet on that page dates from May 18.
I’m not on Twitter and am far from an expert on it – but I think I understand the basics. I really have no clue how these secondary feed sites work, which is why I phrased my question to Gennette about the supposed johnreid9 public-by-Google search tweet via primal.com the way I did. Are these for real? Can they be manipulated? I suspect FriendFeed might have lagged in picking up the “Angela” photo – or Betty changed it back.
By the way, I don’t think Gennette has answered that question.
The FriendFeed Cache has two subscribers, both the same person – Hollie McKay, a Fox News pop culture reporter. I have no clue when she subscribed to the feed or even how to figure that out.

Those pictures were from 1982. Surely Weiner’s had enemies before, had competition in elections before. Funny they haven’t surfaced before now. Was someone holding onto them, waiting for the right opportunity? And when Weiner went day after day, refusing to resign – finally played their last hand?
Just speculating. How this would fit into sockpuppetry theatre, I have no idea.
FYI there’s a FB page, “We support Anthony Weiner”, still going strong. Lots of interesting info there.
Plus this fun detail – Weiner’s resignation still isn’t official (as of last night) – he’s still getting paid. The Dems have delayed some of the paperwork.

I find exactly the opposite to be the case. It’s much more readable without being enlarged. When it is enlarged the pixture may be bigger, but it’s actually got fewer pixels, I believe. It’s got all kinds of missing pixels.

Gennette did not contact Nikki till AFTER the Weiner shot?
That puzzled me for a second too, but this is one of Gennette’s later accounts after she shut down bthe original one. This one is GennetteC. The original one was GennetteNicole.
When she established the new account, she had to restart following anyone she wanted to follow all over again.
The unclarity here is because these documents came without any comment.
All these in this document dump are probably genuine.
