PSA: Legal Insurrection Has Moved

Professor Jacobson, one of the recent “Cinderella Stories” of Teh Internetz, has moved to a new site (also called Legal Insurrection).  Update yer bookmarks.

That is, he has left his Blogger site.  I asked him by email if it was prompted by Althouse’s trouble and I don’t think I am revealing too much that he said that while his issues with Blogger preceded Althouse’s issues, it didn’t help matters.

So join the insurrection… as long as you keep it legal.  And you might enjoy him discussing how he got into blogging, here.

(Also, Ann Althouse is planning a similar move, which assuredly is related to her troubles.)

  1. I have no idea what is behind this, but your second link contains a time-bomb. I followed your “… how he got into blogging, here.” link. There I clicked on “My first post, Obama is Door No. 2 …” That brought me to a post .. which disappeared in 5 seconds (I’ve counted them) to be replaced by the home page http://legalinsurrection.com/. I figured: AHA, I’ll just save the page to my hard drive, and I can read it there. So I did, within the critical 5 seconds. So I brought up the page FROM MY HARD DISK (the URL confirmed this) and Voila! In 5 seconds, the page on my hard disk was replaced by .. http://legalinsurrection.com/ ! I don’t know what his HTML is doing, but it certainly does not behave like anything I have seen before!

  3. I took a look at the links at LI and they were to articles on the blogspot site. As the professor stated (somewhere this weekend), there’s an auto-redirect from LI.blogspot to LI.com. Looks like some deeper links were (currently working OK in Firefox) getting redirected. Haven’t tried it in Explorer.

I gather that getting out of blogspot is a bit like fleeing a dictatorship. You might be safe, but not sure what’s going to happen to your stuff.

  4. No, take that back. Still a redirect in the source of the blogspot page. See my second paragraph in the previous post. (The redirect was slow for me–I have ultra-slow dialup on my part of the information fire-road.)
