Create Your Own Star Wars Crawl (Update: The Most Patriotic Crawl Evah?)

Filed under: General — Aaron Worthing @ 7:21 pm

[Guest post by Aaron Worthing; if you have tips, please send them here.  Or by Twitter @AaronWorthing.]

Here’s something to frivolous as we watch Anthony Weiner’s career disintegrate before our very eyes…

Remember how in the beginning of every Star Wars movie they start off with a few paragraphs of crawling text.  Did you ever feel like writing you own?

Well, now you can.  Seriously.  Like my wife is a sci-fi sweetie, so I wrote one about us, taking about how I met Princess Mary of the Tagalog clan (if you know Filipino culture, that is a moderately funny joke) and so on…

I don’t know if there is a language filter or not, but certainly they don’t care if you are wildly far away from the topic of Star Wars.  And best of all, you can link to or embed your creations.

And all for free, here. (Via IGN).

So how about you have fun with the concept and then link to your creations in the comments?  Sound like fun?

Update: I slept on it and woke up with the perfect idea for a crawl:

  6. This actually is probably an accurate portrayal of Rep Weiner’s own view on the importance of his finest hour.

But it also kinda highlights that he goes on and on without saying much.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  7. wallah.
NINE FP posts on Weiner? Patterico, this is beneath you…or isn’t it?
Are you a wholly owned subsidiary of Brietbart Inc. now?

it seems a tad excessive, but you kinda went crazipants over Althouse too.
I guess this is the new you.

    Icy Texan (a8e531)

  13. nishi has just characterized the entire Affair Weiner as being a lock stock an barrel Breitbart production and so far she has done so unchallenged

that’s not lame exactly it’s rather resourceful if not shrewd

    happyfeet (3c92a1)

  14. “that’s not lame exactly it’s rather resourceful if not shrewd”

Mr. Feets – Wacko is what it is. Batshit crazy.

She called this website a wholly-owned subsidiary of Breitbart.

Very insulting to the host. Your brain damaged friend is not shrewd or resourceful at all.

    No, it’s lame.

  21. now the top TWELVE posts are about Weiners twitter pecker while America goes into forclosure because congress wont raise the debt ceiling….

Brietbart has LOST. Big Hollywood’s stated goal was “taking back culture”. Seen any signs of that? Christian movies still sukk, people still hate mormons and evangelicals, the Ayn Rand movie was a bomb, academe and hollywood are still painted blue. Epic fail IMHO.

The Wingularity is near. Right now we are at the knee of the curve of exponential wingnuttiness and in the run-up to the 2012 election we will approach vertical slope. There is no order of transinfinity great enough to approximate Peak Wingnut, so we will simply warp into the full Wingularity…where the specific gravity of wingnuttery will deform the very fabric of reality.

But what will happen when Obama is re-elected?
    Interesting times.

    Comment by wheeler’s cat —

YOU take responsibility. You’re the one lying about what people wrote. You need to accept corrections with a little more fairness.

And who the hell gives you the right to decide what other people can talk about?

If you are too threatened by the truth that Weiner sent pervy photos to people, by all means, don’t comment in all the discussion threads on those topics. Go read about something else.

but you appear very dedicated to this story. You bring up all kinds of points, all of them lies meant to shill for the democrat caught being a dishonest sleaze, or demanding no one pay attention to this story now that it’s broken wide open.

I do wish the site would talk about other stories, but it’s a bit of a slow news week, and the fact is that the MSM embargoes stories like this, so the sites that cover them have a tendency to leave absolutely nothing to chance, covering every angle. That’s logical. Get over it.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  33. Brietbart has LOST

I get the impression he hasn’t even begun.

But he has hardly lost. NAACP admitted they had a racist in their midst, after they attempted to ‘prove’ the Tea Party opposition to Obamacare was racist. No matter how hard you try, you can’t change the fact that when Sherrod described treating white people a lot worse than black people, as a 37 year old professional, that was really racist and the NAACP audience enjoyed learning about this ugly thing.

He changed ACORN’s ability to lie and cheat quite a bit.

    He has ruined Weiner’s day.

And it’s not really Breitbart so much as the people he works with.

You seem really interested in being right without actually winning any arguments.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  34. So people that have their houses foreclosed on should blame the banks for not increasing their credit card limits?!?!

    Nishidiot’s inanity knows no bounds.

    JD (85b089)

  35. So people that have their houses foreclosed on should blame the banks for not increasing their credit card limits?!?!

The sense of entitlement is disgusting. Big spending government programs have sucked us completely dry, to a point of debt that congress repeatedly promised we wouldn’t reach, and is in fact prohibited by their own laws.

And they assert a right to borrow more and spend more, anyway. If you don’t just give them more and more, they blame you for the fact they are spending money we just don’t have.

Now, it’s obstructionist to merely not agree 100% with every spending proposal democrats have in mind. Spending less is completely off the table. They increase the deficit tenfold+, and it’s not their fault when they can’t borrow any more.

The law said what the debt ceiling was. What’s the point of such a law if they plan to simply replace it over and over with a higher one? That’s no law, then, but rather a huge lie to the American people that congress will show a little restraint… abide by some kind of standard they promised to.

They were lying when they voted for the debt ceiling the last time, and would be lying yet again. That’s part of Weiner’s philosophy. How dare the people hold him to his own word!

    Dustin (c16eca)

  36. America goes into forclosure because congress wont raise the debt ceiling…

No, America goes into foreclosure because congress won’t cut spending.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  37. If nishidiot were any more stupid, she would be a Johnson.

    JD (474b75)

  38. nishi is not stupid I don;t think… it’s like when someone is really actually smart but people call them stupid even though that person they’re calling stupid is actually for reals smart.

    It’s like that.

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  39. *don’t*

punctuation is hard today the good news though is while NG is away on her honeymoon she said I could eat all her tasty Frosted Flakes!

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  40. Nishi is stupid I think. It’s like when someone says something that is untrue, and their explanation is terrible, and they consistently get all the facts wrong and screw up the debate, resorting at the end to repeatedly just asking people to stop talking about the topic they are totally correct about. When that happens enough times, people understandably realize that this is a sign of stupidity, calling the stupid person stupid when they are, for reals, stupid.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  41. but see when you call people stupid that’s simply every bit as much a ploy to forestall debate as anything one might decry about nishi’s commentings, which are sometimes very insightful and of value

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  42. while America goes into forclosure because congress wont raise the debt ceiling….

On no planet in the known universe is that smart.

    JD (474b75)

  43. well perhaps not the known universe, no

    but that’s just one example

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  44. which are sometimes very insightful and of value

    Comment by happyfeet

It’s not like I’m forestalling those points. And I responded factually to nishi’s assertions, rather than simply sidestepping them.

But what did Nishi say that hasn’t already been discussed? Nothing. And yeah, the comments were stupid.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  45. well maybe she’s having an off day it happens that doesn’t mean we call people stupid

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  46. OK OK.

    She acted stupidly.

    I apologize for offending you.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  47. Happy feet – you are a bright fellow. When has nishidiot ever wanted to actually discuss anything. She spires out her memes, calls people names, and scatters away. Lawlz. Discussion is not, and never has been on her agenda.

    JD (474b75)

  48. Happyfeet – you are a bright fellow. When has nishidiot ever wanted to actually discuss anything. She spits out her memes, calls people names, and scatters away. Lawlz. Discussion is not, and never has been on her agenda

    JD (474b75)

  49. Let’s see, it’s OK to call Palin stupid, when she’s never exhibited any sign of it, but it’s not OK to call nishi stupid, when she continually spouts stupidity? How stupid is that?

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  50. I am not offended Mr. Dustin I just think nishi deserves better than she gets sometimes – she is nishi she was one of the very first commenters in the sphere of blogos and she’s at times dogged at times brilliant at times funny at times tedious but she always does so with a style what is all her own and I think the internet is better for it

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  51. Mr. JD I ask you how often have you reached out to nishi with your heart in a spirit of engagement and inquiry?

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  52. I just think nishi deserves better than she gets sometimes – she is nishi she was one of the very first commenters in the sphere of blogos and she’s at times dogged at times brilliant at times funny at times tedious but she always does so with a style what is all her own and I think the internet is better for it

I prefer disagreement. I understand a lot of people don’t take discussion threads seriously (and that’s not stupid, necessarily). People like to poke and prod and maybe even act up a bit of a shtick to be funny.

    That’s cool.

But Nishi’s repetitive dishonesty and accusations are not impressive. For someone like me, who has only experienced the stupid side of Nishi, instead of this grand history of wit, it’s hard to cultivate a taste for more Nishi comments.

This blog could use more dissent, and it’s way better than most blogs on that count. Don’t get me wrong… I think it’s totally possible to disagree or even just poke a hole here or there, in a smart manner.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  53. Yes Mr. Milhouse it’s ok to call Palin stupid she’s just a random celebrity dilettante.

nishi is a for reals person what we can interact with.

    Very different sorts of people.

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  54. well Mr. Dustin it’s hard to warm up to nishi cause sometimes she phrases things in a way what’s intended on purpose to be off-putting and maybe a little abrasive

It’s just sort of a thing.

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  55. For the record, I’ve noticed that Happyfeet does not attack people who are actually in the threads, even if they are very harsh towards him.

While it may seem he’s being flippant to say it’s OK to call Palin stupid, but not a ‘for reals’ person, he’s actually sincerely trying to communicate something about how he behaves. He doesn’t treat politicians and celebs with the same level of respect that he treats those actually discussing things in his presence.

It’s fair to poke at his principle, but he lives up to his principle, even though it’s tested a lot. I just wanted to note my observation on that.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  56. I tried several times, before she went off the deep end, happy feet. Never again. She is vile.

    JD (474b75)

  57. well the important thing is you tried

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  58. I cannot think of one time happyfeet had an unkind word for another commenter.

    JD (474b75)

  59. “but see when you call people stupid that’s simply every bit as much a ploy to forestall debate”

Mr. Feets – You mean exactly what you do with your attacks on Palin, for example?

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  60. Nishi operates in that post modern semiotic cloud,
much like the Mutaran nebula, no light can get through. she doesn’t mind the 14 trillion dollar debt, the nearly comatose economic growth, the spiraling food and fuel prices,

    ian cormac (72470d)

  61. Though I think Daleyrocks is right. Some of Happyfeet’s analysis of Palin dismisses the interesting parts of her ideology, much as Happyfeet doesn’t want us to do to this nishi nutcase.

If Palin is so bad, but still such a force, it’s really important to explain why. I don’t think someone can do that, though, because beneath all the drama, she’s actually pretty much right on the issues.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  62. “nishi is not stupid I don;t think”

Mr. Feets – I suppose you could make a case that nishi’s ideas don’t make any sense, that her thoughts are disconnected, that she deliberately antagonizes blog hosts and other commenters. Taken together, those actions are stupid, IMHO.

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  63. nishi was a lot smart in how she called the results of 2008 Mr. daley – a lot of the dynamics she had discerned early on proved pivotal – and Obama won pretty much along the lines of how she called it

    Ignore her at your peril.

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  64. “Ignore her at your peril.”

Mr. Feets – It is hard to ignore nishi whenshe perseverates on the same memes consistently. I do not recall her 2008 prescience about the race card, low information democrat voters, and the media giving Obama a 15 point boost in the polls. Perhaps my memory is fading

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  65. my memory is kinda fuzzy too. This next time we’ll both have to try to pay better attention.

    happyfeet (a55ba0)
