KSM Will Not Be Tried in Federal Court
This was pretty much a done deal a year ago, but now it is fully official:
Attorney General Eric Holder today will announce that self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad will be tried in a military commission, the CBS News Investigative Unit has learned. A source says the commission will be held at the Guantanamo Bay prison.
Via Hot Air.
Since the Administration has always based this decision on politics and not the law, I guess they have come to see that politics demands this. The fact that it is the proper venue anyway is secondary.
why is he still breathing when all those thousands of Americans he killed are a lot not breathing?
bumbledouche needs to get on the stick… justice delayed and all that.

Me, usta believe it was indeed, simply … all politics [all the time (for Chucklehead)]. (Broken gramophone record alert) but it ain’t what it seems. Politics yeah, but not domestic. Nope. That fascist political movement … Islam [even if prudence demands he scurry for cover, yet again, lest he be completely exposed (recent UN vote on Israel/’settlements’)].
And looks like maybe even Ayers, has come to realize his golden boy, worships with Moe Ham, and Ed, in their choych (and only). And not the libturd/commie temple in the sky, that he (Bill), thought they shared.
Elmo (614513) — 4/4/2011 @ 10:55 amI can’t find a link but in the Fox News report on this story, the reporter said one of the 9/11 defendants launched a paper airplane in the courtroom that was retrieved by another 9/11 defendant, who opened the airplane and laughed. The Fox News reporter asked what was written on the airplane and she was told it had the 9/11 airplane flight numbers or tail numbers.
DRJ (fdd243) — 4/4/2011 @ 11:15 amDRJ, that really makes my blood boil.
You’d think there would finally be an issue Obama could simply be a leader on, instead of playing politics with, but even now, politics all day long.
These terrorists know that one aspect of their argument is proven true about the weakness and corruption of our society.
Obama and Holder made a case that GITMO and commissions were quite wrong, to the point where they were willing to allow KSM a spectacle in Manhattan! And yet the pathetic needs of their political future is enough to pull a 180. The needs of our nation can be swept aside, but not Obama’s polls.
Dustin (c16eca) — 4/4/2011 @ 11:20 amWhy is shaggy breathing?
Because we bend over to appease them and recoil in pain when our hands are torn off.
DohBiden (984d23) — 4/4/2011 @ 11:39 amIn his petulant statement to the press today, Holder showed his disdain for Congressional control. He was visibly pissed.
Vnjagvet (ee0543) — 4/4/2011 @ 11:43 amI realize Dick Cheney has too much class to do an I-told-you-so, but it would be sweet. He clearly understood the reality of actual governing vs. campaign promises made to get elected: You campaign in poetry, but govern in prose.
“I think the president will find, upon reflection, that to bring the worst of the worst terrorists inside the United States would be cause for great danger and regret in the years to come”.
Dana (9f3823) — 4/4/2011 @ 11:53 amDick Cheney has more class than President Barack Enver Hoxhabama.
DohBiden (984d23) — 4/4/2011 @ 11:58 amOne point of clarification: a military tribunal is a federal trial, even though it is not tried before a U.S. District Court.

DohBiden (984d23) — 4/4/2011 @ 12:26 pmThe most amusing part of this is the fact that this comes out the same day Obama announces he’s going to seek re-election…
And it comes along side a report that – to everyone’s shock and amazement – GitMo is still open.
It’s like they were trying to screw themselves…
Scott Jacobs (d027b8) — 4/4/2011 @ 12:27 pmHuey Long is a socialist POS.
DohBiden (984d23) — 4/4/2011 @ 1:07 pmGee, as if we needed more proof that the Empty Suit(tm) was an empty suit …
or that Eric Holder is a clown without any principles or integrity.
SPQR (26be8b) — 4/4/2011 @ 1:09 pmMr. Holder, when can we have that national debate about civilian trials for terrorist masterminds?
Mr. Holder, when can we have that national debate about closing Gitmo?
Mr. Holder, nobody likes a whiner.
daleyrocks (9b57b3) — 4/4/2011 @ 1:37 pm“Attorney General Eric Holder today will announce that self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad will be tried in a military commission…”
Yeah?
In what century?
Dave Surls (25956c) — 4/4/2011 @ 2:29 pmAttorney General Holder and President Obama. What a clueless, stubborn, twosome. They were wrong from day one about having a civilian trial. It was cruel and thoughtless to put the 9-11 families and the American people through such turmoil and indecision for several years. Bush and Cheney’s policies are shown to have been correct once again. How said that Barry will never have enough class to say so. I wonder who has those pens Obama used on his first day in office to sign the dramatic proclamation about closing Gitmo.

DohBiden (984d23) — 4/4/2011 @ 3:59 pmAfter bribing Bermuda and that island chain in the Pacific to take some, how many other innocent shepherds and religious students have we gotten rid of from Gitmo on Barcky’s watch?
How’d that work out for you Zero?
daleyrocks (9b57b3) — 4/4/2011 @ 4:41 pmWhat a pity we can’t draft Cheney for president.
