If Christie Doesn’t Run For President Then He Hates America… and Kittens

This column in the Daily Caller is so transparent, it’s kind of fun for that reason:

Is New Jersey Governor Chris Christie unpatriotic?

Well, if Christie believes what he has been saying about America’s fiscal crisis and his chances of winning the presidency and yet still chooses not to make a White House run in 2012, the short answer is yes.

That sounds harsh, but Christie’s own words box him in.

Except of course I think Christie is more than smart enough to see through this.  But I would bet he would think it’s funny, too.

C’mon Christie, you have to run.  Or you hate kittens.

You don’t hate kittens, do you?

Because you really don’t want to anger a kitten…

  1. And i denounce myself for my horrifically violent rhetoric.

  2. Mr. Christie isn’t ready any more than any other half-term governor is ready just cause the socialists nominated an empty-suited inexperienced trollop doesn’t mean that Team R needs to scurry out quick like a bunny and do the same but Americans are an incentive-based people so I tell you what if Mr. Christie doesn’t run I will personally make him half a pan of festive pink rice krispie treats and I’ll even go to Target and get a “double boiler” for so I can cut them up and dip them in white chocolate.

  3. My best guess now is Kasich and Walker for VP. Kasich has a long history in Congress as a fiscal hawk and reformer. Some combination of Kasich, Daniels, Christie, plus Walker as VP is my prediction. Sarah Plain could pull it off but that would mean none of the others made it through the meat grinder. Romney has been too slow and too late to admit that his health plan was a loser in Massachusetts.

If he were ten years younger and interested, I would be out marching for Rumsfeld. What a shame that his time came too late. I hope to meet him next week at the Reagan Library and hope to bring my daughter.

  4. Daniels/Kasich would be way way way more than our careless and profligate little country deserves but that doesn’t mean we can’t still hope.

    I’ll be over here hoping.

  5. Trollop? Happy may be having too much fun with happy stuff tonight.

I like rice-krispie treats, though. Pink, not so much.

  6. it’s festive

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  7. Kasich was nowhere on the CPAC straw poll. He’s low profile, seems to keep his head down, and doesn’t seem to enjoy the limelight. This could all work against him. I don’t get the impression that the average voter not heavily into politics knows who he is and/or what he is about. Do you really see the party standing behind him?

  8. Festivals are fun and tomorrow is Mardi Gras. So, let’s feast on the marshmallow and cereal tasty treats. At happy’s house.

Where do you live now? I forgot the address.

    Ag80 (efea1d)

  9. Kasich may be low-key he still fights while he can fight as long as the wrong feels right it’s like he’s in flight you feel me?

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  10. hah I live behind the Ralph’s tomorrow is a good day for treats the next day I have to go to a kitty cremation ceremony for a friend which will be my first one ever and it’s not a festive thing at all … it will be very melancholy I think

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  11. just gonna stand there and watch kiki burn

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  12. Don’t forget the beads.

    kishnevi (ef14ca)

  13. a cremation on Ash Wednesday?
There’s some bizarrity there I can’t quite put my finger on.

    kishnevi (ef14ca)

  14. Happy:

Good luck with the feline incineration. I’m sure Kiki was a grand cat. At least as far as cats go.

    Ag80 (efea1d)

  15. thank you he was a good little guy Californians do this sort of thing different than in Texas

I like about the ash wednesday that’s kinda cool.

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  16. I feel you, happyfeet. It’s good to see the union pushback against him and Senate Bill 5 (collective bargaining)- clearly he’s doing something right.

He’s made a few public gaffes that he’ll have to overcome. It might be that his stumble in bluntly defending his hiring an all-white cabinet by claiming hiring diversity is the same as meeting a quota was a bit much for some to take so soon into his governance. I’ll give him forthrightness and principle, though.

We’ll see how it all plays out.

    Dana (9f3823)

  17. I think if Barack Obama wasn’t president then Kasich’s thoughts on diversity might could be trouble but I don’t think they’re all that big a deal as such, but they definitely might be something to consider you’d consider if you’re a white guy looking for a running mate.

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  18. just you’d consider sorry

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  19. Oh, cats do many fine things. Even in Texas, we can appreciate their worth, but as pets it doesn’t lead the list. Good workers, nonetheless. People love them, though, and I’m not a judger.

    Ag80 (efea1d)

  20. here this is depressing as oil soars and bumblef gets itchy to tap our strategic reserves he moves to prosecute oil producers as criminals

America can go blow itself at some point you can’t even feel sorry for the wretched and shriveled monstrosity it’s become.

    Pathetic thy name is America.

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  21. So yeah. I would love it if Christie were to run. Nobody motivates or excites me like he does. The only downside is I don’t know how he would be on foreign policy, but light yeard ahead of Obama. He is a disaster. Pain would be bad too.

  22. The same Christie who was calling for the glories
of ‘collective bargaining ‘ while Walker is under
siege, who threw Schundler under the bus, as a sop to the teacher’s union, while letting those who sabotaged the ‘race to the top’ application, slide.

  23. Christie will run in 2016. He won’t next year.

    JEA (b9124e)

  24. How did you know it was a service in London? 😉

    JD (4c5021)

  25. Christie was only touting the wonders of collective bargaining because it would give him a chance to collectively annhilate them. It was a red meat statement meant for his supporters, and i ignored the reality of the usual practice of bargaining as it usually plays out.

  26. narciso, those things do prove that Christie is a politician. There’s a major element of cynicism to what politicians say and do, especially with regard to things they can’t help. I admire christie’s results and his amazing ability to stand up to the left in a way few do. I think he’s a great leader who isn’t ready, just as Christie himself thinks, but I also badly want an electable nominee.

He won’t run, so no need to worry.

I think other politicians like Palin and Daniels and the like are just as cynical, and I note that those who aren’t currently in a position of responsibility are much more free to play to the right instead of negotiate for real results like Christie.

Just remember that if the right rules out anyone for a perceived impurity, we may wind up with someone whose base doesn’t rely on conservatives, as we did in 2008.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  27. Mike, please write up a review if you get to see Rumsfeld, for those of us who hope to go but may not be able to. Your daughter should have a unique take, especially if she’s liberal.

I think if C2 wants to run in ’16, he might think about jumping in now. He’ll need the time to dust off after a good vetting (GZM; the Hamas case and judicial appt; cap and trade; guns; Ocare). I think he needs work even if he wants to run as a “sensible” middle of the road R. Nationally right now he’s Dem- not soft, but dem- on guns, taxation, judicial, etc.

That said (and I might be risking the banhammer* here), I had to give him one of only four ‘strongly oppose’ responses on an RNC thing. Strongly oppose Huntsman, Romney and Thune. Actually, Mitt might be the most republican out of the bunch.

  28. If you think Mitt Romney is superior to Chris Christie I have no idea where you’re coming from.

Is this just because he’s such a great threat to Palin? Christie is far from perfect, but he’s no liberal.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  29. Mitt Romney is fancy

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  30. Mitt Romney is a complete nothing. You can count on absolutely nothing he says to reflect what his actual opinion is. Chris Christie is superior. Just look at Vermont’s complaints. Christie was honest about his unpopular views. he stands up for himself. he is moderate on many issues, but he’s honest. He’s also sincere about limited government, and that’s proven by his success in office, another great distinction between he and Romney.

He lacks the experience necessary to be a serious candidate, and I disagree with Vermont that he should run. He gave his word that he wasn’t going to. That’s important.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  31. If they have something to say, why not run, why wait, specially at this very pivotal moment in history, Christie may be filling the Dewey/Wilkie wing of the party, but it’s still has some validity.

    narciso (a3a9aa)

  32. words what reminder me of Mitt Romney sometimes: tassels, viennoiserie, gold leaf, nosh, harpsichord, and naif.

There are many others but that’s a great start.

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  33. I’d say more like blanc mange.

    narciso (a3a9aa)

  34. good one! and I think that one has a song

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  35. here the mr. blancmange comes in at 1:41 or so

    happyfeet (ab5779)

  36. Mitt’s not better than Christie. I was lumping 4 together who are just not good for GOP ’12: Huntsman, Thune, Mitt and C2.

You have to look beyond all the youtube stuff and acknowledge what else he’s FOR. He’s for gun restrictions. He’s for legislating from the bench. He’s for the Senate toeing the line for someone like Kagan. He’s for the app’t of sharia-law judges, yeegadz. He’s for cap n trap. He’s for Obamacare. Add to that he’s comfortable dissing R’s all over wherever to talking heads like Bob Scheiffer and Jimmy Fallon. I think all the potential contenders, whoever they are, should hold off on the sniping until say, the primaries. He’s likely not a threat to Palin because his fans don’t like her anyway. Me – I’m voting R. ABO.

I know the best thing about any candidate next year is no Chicago ties. No ties to Soros (except possibly Huntsman). After the primaries, I won’t be crapping on the nominee. Huck or Mitt or C2, it’s strictly full speed ahead.

So yeah, he’s America’s sexiest bouncer but wow, the baggage that walks in with it. After his union work, at some point the Christie fans have to look at his connection to the founding papers. It’s not picking at this big lovable teddy bear to say that maybe his views are regional. JMHO

    Vermont Neighbor (6d8a47)

  37. Forgot to add, there’s something about each potential candidate that I like, with the exception of Huckabee and Mitt (and obviously Thune and Huntsman).

Mitt needs to prove that he can in fact create jobs. Right now, his capital skills look like consolidating everyone out of work and right-sizing for the bottom line. And Romneycare hangs like a tombstone over everything.

Hopefully the revelations about fraud and man-made global warming will continue to kill the beast that is cap & trade. I can forgive a candidate if they were for it, but later updated their view. This might cover Tim Pawlenty’s past support; he would bring tremendous budget skills to the ticket. I don’t know why he polls so low. Herman Cain, Bobby Jindal, Allen West, John Bolton and of course Palin and Bachmann have attributes that make each a plus for me. I read the blogs and I’m aware of their individual hurdles. Love Christie’s accomplishments so far but the rest of him is like McCain on steroids.

These past couple years of unicorn rule have been a tough, tough go. A real endurance test.
