A Major Defection for Live Action

Filed under: General — Aaron Worthing @ 8:12 am

[Guest post by Aaron Worthing; if you have tips, please send them here.]

Live Action is that group that has been posting O’Keefe style videos showing a fake pimp and prostitute going into Planned Parenthood, and looking for help and advice on running a brothel of underage illegal immigrants—sex slaves in all but name—and getting a shocking amount of help.  And there have been more videos, I just haven’t had the chance to pass them on to you.  If people were less ideological, the feminists would be the most angry.  I mean is about the exploitation of these young girls for sex and Planned  Parenthood’s willingness to exploit that.  Doesn’t that ring any feminist’s bells?

Instead, all principles must be sacrificed on the altar of abortion.

But today we learn that Live Action has managed to obtain a major defection:

A former director and eight-year employee of Planned Parenthood has left the organization to join one of its chief nemeses — pro-life group Live Action.

Oh, and it gets better (or worse, depending on your perspective):

A veteran of the pro-choice cause, Johnson says that incidents like those shown in the Live Action sting videos are not uncommon.

“I can tell you from experience that Planned Parenthood often turns a blind eye to sexual abuse and trafficking – what you see in Live Action’s videos is not a rare occurrence,” Johnson said. “But ignorance is no defense, especially when it has turned their clinics into a safe haven for those who sexually exploit women and girls. This is not a training problem so much as it is an ideology problem. I am humbled and eager to begin this partnership with Live Action so that together we can expose the serious harm Planned Parenthood poses to the most vulnerable among us.”

That’s gonna leave a mark.  Read the whole thing.

  1. A former director and eight-year employee of Planned Parenthood has left the organization to join one of its chief nemeses — pro-life group Live Action.

The quote (as well as the Daily Caller headline) makes it sound like the Planned Parenthood director left recently, in order to join Live Action.

In fact, the woman in question “jumped ship” over a year ago, to write a book and be in a documentary.

This is the third time in a year I’ve heard a story about a planned parenthood director “jumping ship”, and each time I’ve heard the story, it turns out to be the same woman, Abby Johnson.

  2. We already know what will happen: she’s mentally unbalanced, she was a disgruntled employee, she never got along with anyone, she had terrible work and attendance habits, and she probably stole company ink pens, too.

By the way, if an unhappy employee is disgruntled, does that mean a happy one is gruntled?

  3. In this case, I have to agree with Kman. The defection is old news.

  4. We already know what will happen

It already happened. She left the abortion clinic back in October 2009, and yes, at the time, there was some skepticism about the actual reason why she left.

I’ll leave it to others to sift through the theories and decide for themselves. My only point is that the actual defection isn’t news, and the wrinkle here is that she has now hooked up with Live Action.

  5. I have yet to read any thorough questioning of Rendell by his loyal allies in the PA press – quel surprise.

  6. Thst fact that she left PP is, the point that she joined Live Action isn’t

  7. Painted Jaguar: Well, if the old news was known only by some, does that really mean it is old news, or is it new news for those who never knew it before? Perhaps if it was treated as new news when it was new and given the attention it deserved in the press, then everyone would “knew” it and it wouldn’t be old “unknewn” news, but old “knewn” news, hence not frowned upon for being old, because there would have been no reason to newly report it as new news. To avoid this again, please write to the editor of your local papers to make sure they put this new news story of old news on the front page this time, so in the future the old news can be newly reported as old news, and not new news, OK?

  8. Dmac- The change in the policy of oversight of abortion clinics actually started under Tom Ridge… Though I’m sure Rendell had no interest in reversing the change.

A few days ago the local news station referred to the case as his being charged “in the death of a woman undergoing an abortion”, no comment about the babies. Had I time, a camera crew, and a (good) lawyer, maybe I would have gone down and asked their station manager to explain their news “reporting”.

  9. turned their clinics into a safe haven for those who sexually exploit women and girls

I think there’s an interesting question here, which I haven’t really seen anyone address: how does one go about turning a clinic into a safe haven for girls and women who are being exploited and who are not willing or able to leave the exploitative situation without, as a side-effect, turning it into a safe haven for those doing the exploiting?

You could say, if you’re not going to leave the exploitative situation, we’re not going to help you; but, generally speaking, the people who are willing/able to bring themselves to leave need help less than those who aren’t.

Sure, give abortions and BD testing to the pimp and his underage whores, free needles to drug users, and on and on. the liberal answer never seems to be to stop the underlying bad situation from happening.

    > for girls and women who are being exploited and who are not willing or able to leave the exploitative situation

if the girl is a minor, you call child protective services and they take them out of it. end of story.

Maybe it’s me, but this strikes me as a no-brainer: if the exploitation rises to the level of criminal behavior (and it usually does), you report it to the authorities.

Which is what Planned Parenthood did, before they realized it was a O’Keefe-esque hoax.

    Kman (d30fc3)

  12. Aaron, that sounds easy, but the question then becomes: if you do that, then girls in exploitative situations will stop coming in for help. Meaning that you get girls 1-10 out, say, but girls 11-100 don’t get any assistance at all.

I’m not sure where the right balance point is, because I don’t know what the numbers are. How many girls are being exploited? How many are getting pregnant and/or catching venereal diseases? How many are healthier – and therefore have better long-term outcomes if they’re able to get out of the exploitative situation – as a result of PP’s services? How many more girls are being exploited as a result of the services offered by PP?

Without those numbers, I don’t think it’s clear whether PP is part of the solution or part of the problem.

  14. Wait a minute. Pimps take their whores to PP in order to keep them prego free? And some of said hos might be underage? This IS news!

    Accent on “old”.

As with the procedure of abortion itself, the mantra remains “out of sight, out of mind”. It is the shedding of light on what really goes on at these places that scares the proponents of “a woman’s right to choose”.

  15. Isn’t the reverse, almost nearly the point, Soros funded apparatchiks try to silence the likes of Lindzen and company, on AGW, Scott Ritter turns against the efforts against Iraq, around the time
he starts receiving funds from a recipient of Oil
    for Food funds.

  19. From the wiki;

According to the Washington Times, Ritter’s 2000 documentary In Shifting Sands was partially financed by Iraqi American businessman Shakir al Khafaji.[29] Al-Khafaji pled guilty to multiple felony charges in 2004 for his relationship with U.N. Oil-for-Food scandal.[30] ]

i also have to think scott ritter’s pedophilia had something to do with it, too. i think saddam knew about it, somehow, and used it as leverage.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  21. i think saddam knew about it, somehow, and used it as leverage.

That is the only reasonable explanation for his 180. And this is the reason that we don’t want people with dark secrets to have great responsibility. This tactic is well worn and tried all the time.

Most congressmen and people of national security authority, and high level investigators, and the like are targeted for dirt that could be used to exploit them. Our government is probably following people around in foreign countries hoping to learn something they can use as leverage. If they aren’t, they should.

It’s completely realistic that Saddam had people following several inspectors and learned of Scott’s perversion.

  22. Today, athe the U of Penn’s campus, at 34th and Walnut, I saw 2 Planned Parenthood “volunteers” — clipboards in hand asking all passersby to stop and listen to them and support Planned Parenthood.

SO: their forces are out in full, trying to reduce the damage caused by the pimp/prostitute footage.

[They were not said to see me leave after I called them Planned Prostitution and Planned Pimphood.]

    John B. (8d0813)

  23. That is the only reasonable explanation for his 180

Well, didn’t know that either, sorry I do now.

Shout out to John B.- hello over there.

  24. The money actually is a damn good explanation too, MD, but when I see these two aspects, that he has one of the most powerfully nasty skeletons in his closet, and he flipped 180 at (I believe) the behest of Saddam, I believe they are related.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  25. Dustin- Yep, I think those two reasons were good enough, no need to invoke a third.

  26. I knew about Abby’s leaving PP just after it happened (about three days afterward) because I am a member of TAL (Texas Alliance for Life) which has close ties to Coalition for Life (who should get all the credit) who were instrumental in Abby’s jumping ship by way of their 40 days for life vigils. She literaly left the PP building (Bryan, TX) and drove (by a circuitous route)to the CfL office which was just a few blocks away. The news electrified everyone as E mails flew around the TAL community – the local media was also in a frenzy. PP almost immediately slapped a temporary retsraining order on both CfL and Abby – on a Friday no doubt to make them squirm over the weekend. Ironically, PP’s actions are why Abby wrote a book and became as active as she is. The fact that the restraining order was not yet in effect allowed CfL and Abby to hold a local press conference on their terms.

KMAN, I am seriously disappointed in you. To say that Abby left “to write a book and be in a documentary” is quite misleading and dishonest.

The fact that there are so many who seem in the dark about Abby may be ascribed to the coverage it received from the MSM. The fact that Abby’s name is only now being mentioned at this site is my fault: I am sorry for that.

I believe the head line should read: Abby Johnson lends her support to _____”.

I recommend her book “unPLANNED”. It is an easy read and quite difficult to put down. In fact, I will send my copy to the first person to E-mail me their mailing address.
