Comedy Gold: Sharpton’s Blood Libel Fail!

Filed under: General — Aaron Worthing @ 1:15 pm

[Guest post by Aaron Worthing; if you have tips, please send them here.]

Of course you remember over here when Patterico mocked Sharpton and the Washington Post for running an op-ed by Sharpton entitled In MLK’s honor, let’s strive for dialogue that’s passionate but not poisonous.  Again, this is Al Sharpton saying this.  And for extra comedy purposes, this is next to a libelous cartoon:

By the way, you should read about this exchange between Frank Strategies and the author of that cartoon.  It’s priceless.

But anyway, Al Sharpton was repeating this blood libel on his radio show, when one of his callers came in and basically urinated on the whole theory:

My favorite part was when he mentioned talk show hosts. Gee, which radio talk show host were you thinking of, sir?

Anyway, you can read more, here.

  1. What is the Washington Post if words have no meaning ?

A bird cage liner … but it’s already that.

  2. I really pleased with the caller. He cares about families being divided over lesser issues, and he cares about basic decency. He sounds like someone moved to be sympathetic to Palin because she’s being bashed by very dishonest people, rather than being someone impressed with her policy views.

The left should be very concerned about this. There’s a sea of noise out there, but the essential truth is that the right was blamed for something in an awful way. It doesn’t subside back to status quo… the American people actually resent that, and a lot of them will be rooting for Palin or the Tea Party, simply because they don’t like ghouls.

  3. Take a step back … if George W. Bush was still President of the US, he would have been blame for this tragedy … based on the fact that he ultimately would have been the chief law enforcement officer in the US.

I wonder why Obama escaped such a fate.

We all know the answer to that … they blamed it on some non-governmental civilian woman in Alaska.

Frankly, if this doesn’t sound like a case of “my dog ate my homework” .. nothing does.

  4. they still might could be allies if Palin smeared pop poo on herself and said she was raped

  5. Didn’t the caller say that all of this hate directed at Palin would eventually backfire? Spot on.

  6. happyfeet, It’s sick that Sharpton didn’t take Tawana to get the help she really needed, from a psychiatrist, but instead egged her on.

It’s amazing to me that he thought he should have some special say in civility. Of all people, Al Sharpton. It’s like Obama speaking on saying no to drugs.

  7. Its far beyond that, Dustin. Sharpton’s rhetoric really incited riots and resulted in death.

  8. Al Sharptons bullhorn has killed more people than Gov. Palins opinions.

You’re right. It’s much worse than my meager comparison. Sharpton actually incited violence. His recent op ed said he was ‘involved’ because someone ‘misused’, but that’s just not true. He ramped up the hate as a specific tactic. He deserves to be in a cage.

  10. That cartoonist sure sounds like a classic “independent” when you read the link for the conversation with Frank Strategies.

  11. The unintentional irony of the page layout was the first thing I noticed when Patterico posted the Sharpton piece Tuesday.

I thought it might be an editorial oversight but then I wondered if someone at the WaPo was having a sly bit of fun.
