USC’s 2010 Media Guide

Are you ready for college football? I’m always ready and after a little housecleaning, USC may be ready, too:

“[T]he Trojans’ media guide has undergone some late-breaking revisionism to account for Reggie Bush’s vanishing Heisman Trophy, apparently overnight.”

Before-and-after media guides are shown at the link.

  1. Bush really stabbed the university in the back and will never be welcome as so many former players are. He had better hang on to that fortune he is making as the famed USC network will not be there for him if he stumbles.

  2. Given USC’s ongoing problems with playing by the rules (they’re not quite at the level SMU was 23 years ago to earn the NCAA ‘Death Penalty’ but they’re getting close), it probably would have been more appropriate to take Bush’s Heisman off the list, but put a picture of the Trojans’ most legendary Heisman winner on the new media guide cover.

  3. You can tell that SC is still a top program as long as you can hear the angry losers whine.

My point was that the university stands behind players long after they have moved on. At a game a couple of years ago, I learned that the guy sitting next to me was Earl Mccullough, a track and football star in the 60s. He is now a high school coach. These guys often can move into a second career through the USC network long after they can contribute to the sport.

One example is here. Carroll is gone now but I still think he is all class.

  4. Yeah, Pete Carroll is “all class”. He helped make a big mess and then left it for others to clean up.

  5. You can tell that Rangel is a top Congressman as long as you can hear the angry losers whine.

Hmm. Actually, yeah, that makes some sense.

Regardless, this ‘whining’ is because the USC failed to live up to its responsibilities. It’s an embarrassment. They are a top program, but they are an embarrassment anyway.

Not losing any sleep over it, but it’s going to be sweet to watch them continue to slide down in stature this year. Their fans will want to prove me wrong, but they won’t. USC is going to have a bad year on the field.

  6. As an alumna — 1981 — we will SCurvive! Also a big welcome to Pat Haden, an alumnus of my high school alma mater, Bishop Amat. I look forward to the day when I see more of Amat’s players land at SC than at U-G-L-Y.

Perhaps he can take up the search for the real killers now that OJ is otherwise occupied.

  8. LOL at Kiffen on the cover. He is going to loose there just like he has lost everywhere he’s been. Wish his dad would cut the apron strings and let him fail on his own.

  9. “Bush really stabbed the university in the back” as opposed to OJ, who stabbed his victims all over.
