2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tourney

The NCAA men’s basketball field of 64 65 is currently being announced. (The women’s field will be announced Monday.) I’m picking Kansas to go all the way for the men. Anyone want to make some picks or call some upsets?

  1. Bill Selfish’s team will lose.

  3. My Buckeyes are in the same region as Kansas so… heh, they likely won’t face each other. While the Buckeyes sport the odds-on favorite to win NCAA player of the year, they also sport a 6-man rotation and just finished up the Big Ten tourney. Too many games, too little rest for a team that can play 3 players 40 minutes each.

I think it was MSU that lost it’s key player. And got a 12 seed for it, I do believe. I don’t expect any of the 5 Big Ten teams to make the Final Four. I’ll be happy if the Buckeyes make it to the Elite Eight, and if they do, they’ll be the only Big Ten team to do so.

  4. As a Cal fan, I hope that Pitino’s players look ahead to a matchup with Duke, as the experts and the Louisville fans seem to be doing.

  5. I’ve got Gonzaga going to the Elite Eight and losing to Pittsburgh in my bracket. Ohio State will win it all against Duke.

  6. Mr. Hitchcock, kind sir, don’t dismiss the Badgers until they’re out.

Of course, we’ve got the frozen four to look forward to, also.

  7. In a stunning outcome, Texas A&M will… not win the NCAA tournament.

    Kansas will.

Who will be the Cinderella this year? I just filled out my bracket and I don’t see a strong contender.

  8. I’m not going to be happy.

2nd round will likely be the alma mater Badgers against local favorite Temple (coach Fran Dunphy is a great guy).

Whichever soon to be taken out by UK (my dad bleeds Kentucky blue).

    On to Frozen Four.

  10. My alma mater, the University of Kentucky, will win it’s eighth NCAA Championship.

  12. Bet on a Sienna upset

    Hawkins (1fc204)

  13. Butler deserved a higher seed. And the match-up with UTEP is brutal.

  14. I’m picking Connecticut for the Women’s tourney before the selection starts. I’m not a betting man, but it may be the easiest wager since betting on UCLA in the Wooden era.

I hope there’s one this year. I still get choked up remembering the miraculous run of George Mason to the Final Four in 2006.

  16. Really going out on a limb there, LN.

  17. Illinois will not win the NIT.

Or are we not guessing the NIT yet?

  18. I do not care for Walter. At all.

The last time Duke & Cal met in the tournament, it was worthy of the cover of Sports Illustrated. That was the first look most folks in America got at Jason Kidd, who was a Bay Area HS legend before he put on his first Cal jersey.
