What Do These URLs Have in Common?

Go ahead: click them. Don’t be frightened.

Via Balko.

UPDATE: Maybe I should explain the joke. These are generated by a site called ShadyUrl.com. The above links all come to this blog, but I plan to start using it to link lefty sites that annoy me. Media Matters becomes:

http://5z8.info/killallimmigrants_i3x7h_killgays

and Max Blumenthal’s site becomes

http://5z8.info/hateminorities_c3e0m_inject_now

Heh. Good stuff.

  1. Theodore Roosevelt is neocon porn? Balko has flipped.

  2. ShadyURL is awesome!

  3. Well, I can go to Balko, and access what he has there; but all of these just come back to PP, as if the link is a circle.

  4. Balko just gave the link to shadyurl.com, which is where I created the above URLs. See the update to the post.

  5. @3. Exactly. It all goes no where except to lead back to this site. I think that is the whole point of the thread.

  6. What will it take to get everyone to figure out that Theodore Roosevelt isn’t an icon? He was a very interesting man, but “neocon porn”?

    Please.

  7. It is indeed scary. Be too frightened to click any of them–kinda like handling a non-poisonous snake.

  8. I suppose this works in reverse — a porn site can get something like http://5Z8.info/cute-kittens_j2r4w_playing-in-the-snow. Gonna have to tell mom not to click on any “5Z8.info” sites.

  9. […] exactly anyone would want to do that is beyond […]

  10. If anyone goes to Blumenthal from your link it will only make him happy.

Since no one goes to his site on purpose, mistakes are his best marketing tool.

  11. Really, isn’t the lack of transparency (aside from a transparent attempt to avoid same) in this admin one of the beefs of those who support this blog with comments? Why add your own obfuscation to information, just to be snarky?

Sorry, but while it may be harmless on the surface, I think attacks like this are kind of out of line and cheapen the process. And yes, I’m not above snarky one-liners myself. But corrupted links (in the sense that the link itself has an ugly message, when related to the site being linked) is a bit base. Taranto on WSJ always refers to a particularly tripe-laden site as the “Puffington Host”. That’s suitable farce. Implying ugly trigger words to sites you disagree with is just stepping over into Olbermania (everyone’s a “teabagger”) territory.

BTW, in a attack of blatant self-promotion, here’s my shady url:
