  1. I think in this case he was not bowing but rather showing him the appropriate position for missile defense without American technology…

  2. By this time, Obama NOT bowing would be a slight.

  3. Maybe the man likes to bow. If he’d start going to a real church, he could get some of it out of his system.

  4. Did it even cross Obama’s mind why President Yushchenko didn’t reciprocate with a bow of his own? Does he ever ask himself *why* he is always assuming the subservient position before these world leaders?

And more importantly, shouldn’t Rahm or Axelrod or even Michelle told him to, Knock it off, you look like a giant wuss.

  5. Why can’t this man look foreign leaders in the eye? When will the bow transition to a kowtow? Or has that already happened in some cases?

  6. This has long become a dog bites man story. It would be laughable if it weren’t so offensive. “There goes our Barry again. Isn’t he cute?” This story line reminded me of King Ralph, except Ralph had personal integrity and an honor for the country.

  7. He’s probably doing it now to show that he wasn’t specially sucking up to… whoever he bowed to first.

It reminds me of I’m Not Rapaport, when Midge accidentally bumps into something (I forget what–maybe a door, maybe a wall), and then, to make it look like he really did it on purpose the first time, he then bumps into the same thing over and over again… and in the end it brings ruin on him, because it looks like he’s crazy or blind.

I think it’ll end the same way for us.

  8. What a goofus doofus we have as president. Regardless of the politics of Obama, his behavior is just bad etiquette, bad form.

If a political foe of his — a Republican/conservative — had predicted before the 2008 elections that Obama, should he win, would display such a response when greeting VIPs as US president, even I would have laughed at the idea and considered it a humorous exaggeration to score points against the guy. No more than an assumption to mock and stereotype a naive, foolish liberal trying to win the White House.

Beyond that, is Obama so deaf and blind that he’s never gotten wind of the controversy surrounding his bowing, first, before the king of Saudi Arabia and then, a bit later, the Emperor of Japan? That would be almost preferable to what I suspect actually is not just lousy etiquette on Obama’s part, but also his intent to send a political message. That being the US now bows before the sad, misunderstood Third Worlders of the Middle East, the sad, misunderstood Japanese we bombed in 1945, and, with Yushchenko as the figurehead, the sad, misunderstood former Soviets who we castigated as belonging to an “evil empire” during the 1980s.

Moreover, I now suspect Obama must have been quite delighted at the little voice in the back of his mind that said during his trip to Britain, “hell, no, you absolutely will not greet the Queen of England beyond a simple hand shake. You try to even slightly crook your head to her and I’ll make you 10 times more dependent on the teleprompter!!”

  9. Could some body pulleeze tell him that he doesn’t look like a proud black man when he does this?

  10. The bowing is bloody embarrassing. Want. It. To. Stop.
