The mean Doritos guy getting the tables reversed. Even though it’s dog bites man, it was inventive.
Ed from SFV (f6a87d) — 2/7/2010 @ 11:47 pmmy favorite ad was the one with the final score of 31-17.
WHO DAT?
redc1c4 (fb8750) — 2/7/2010 @ 11:59 pmI loved the Wolf Style – E*Trade ad. Milkaholic. hehe
sarainitaly (7353e1) — 2/8/2010 @ 4:08 amBetty White one for Snickers was great! So was the Doritos ‘anti-bark collar’. Most of the others were just average.
JEA (1eb0e1) — 2/8/2010 @ 4:16 amI liked the one where the little kid pwned the guy; “You don’t touch my momma, you don’t touch my doritos.” Cracked me up on the momma bit.
Vivian Louise (643333) — 2/8/2010 @ 4:26 amI thought they were all awful. I watched the game with my son and daughter-in-law and they said the funniest part was my groans at each ad. I remember some good ones from previous years.
Mike K (2cf494) — 2/8/2010 @ 5:01 amI kind of agree with Slate about the ads except it took one of their commenters to remind me of that godawful Audi ad. I can’t imagine who thought that would make someone want to buy an Audi. Maybe a global warming hysteric ? Not even they are that self hating. I think.
DRJ, I think the topic should be worst ads and I nominate that Audi ad.
Mike K (2cf494) — 2/8/2010 @ 5:58 amThe Dodge Charger ad – Man’s Last Stand.
Poor beat down men. And why my husband drives the fast car in this family.
Not a Charger though, for the record.
em (219fea) — 2/8/2010 @ 6:29 amI admit I didn’t see the whole game, but I was surprised Abe Vigoda was still alive.
I wished the audience would have thrown rotten tomatoes at “His Favreness” in that commercial.
Wasn’t that Mikey Teutel leading the group singing about not wearing any pants?
PCD (1d8b6d) — 2/8/2010 @ 6:47 amOh, of course I enjoyed the mocking of the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Somebody give McMahon the anti-barking collar.
PCD (1d8b6d) — 2/8/2010 @ 6:49 amFor “worst quote about the Tim Tebow commercial,” I nominate NOW, in an article by Robin Abcarian in the LA Times (H/t NRO’s The Corner):
NOW president Terry O’Neill said it glorified violence against women. “I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it,” she said. “That’s what comes across to me even more strongly than the anti-abortion message. I myself am a survivor of domestic violence, and I don’t find it charming. I think CBS should be ashamed of itself.”
Brother Bradley J. Fikes, C.O.R. (9eb641) — 2/8/2010 @ 6:57 amBradley, the AP is in tough competition with your nominee since they described an ad that wasn’t the Tebow ad that was run.
They have since changed the story.
MIke K (2cf494) — 2/8/2010 @ 7:06 amMost frightening ad: the Green Police one. Officially it was an ad for Audi, but that certainly isn’t what stood out to me. It was a glimpse into our future where the enviro stasi run amok and it wasn’t a pretty sight.
Dana (1e5ad4) — 2/8/2010 @ 7:26 amSnickers – Betty White; Milkaholic -ETrade. Top two. But pre-Super Bowl Tebow controversy – Priceless. The Anti-Life groups were shown for what they are – a load of hot air.
Corwin (ea9428) — 2/8/2010 @ 7:35 amMost frightening ad: the Green Police one. Officially it was an ad for Audi, but that certainly isn’t what stood out to me. It was a glimpse into our future where the enviro stasi run amok and it wasn’t a pretty sight.
Comment by Dana — 2/8/2010 @ 7:26 am
Yep, me too. Hot Air regulars have pretty much the same reaction. Thing is, Audi seems to tacitly approve of it, at the end of the commercial. Well – got everyone’s attention, that’s for sure.
no one you know (196ed7) — 2/8/2010 @ 7:37 amBest commercial was Musical Beavers.
ropelight (c97d9c) — 2/8/2010 @ 8:59 amWow, that Audi Green Police ad was really creepy! WAY too real to be funny.
The underpants (or pants) ads were stupid. A person would have had to drink all the Bud Lite in the Bud Lite house to appreciate them.
The very best was the Dodge Challenger “Man’s Last Stand” ad.
Gesundheit (cfa313) — 2/8/2010 @ 9:42 amGesundheit,
Real Men drive Thunderbirds (hard).
PCD (1d8b6d) — 2/8/2010 @ 11:39 amThunderbird. Isn’t that like MadDog 20/20, or Boone’s Farm?
JD (959071) — 2/8/2010 @ 11:43 amJD, on an aside…
What was the score, anyway???
P.S….DRJ has closed comments on John Murtha, but, I”ll comment anyway…
“Semper Fi, Marine!”
reff (b996d9) — 2/8/2010 @ 12:34 pmIsn’t it just toooooo ironic that we get this about the Tebow ad,
NOW president Terry O’Neill said it glorified violence against women. “I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it,” she said. “That’s what comes across to me even more strongly than the anti-abortion message. I myself am a survivor of domestic violence, and I don’t find it charming. I think CBS should be ashamed of itself.”
…and yet absolutely nothing about this ad with Betty White, which is obviously about elder abuse and violence.
After all, just think of how many survivors of elder abuse watched this and were also blown away about the celebration of the violence toward the elderly man and woman in it. Surely that’s what comes across. And I’m sure they didn’t find it charming, either.
Paging NOW president Terry O’Neill! Let’s try to be an equal opportunity purveyor of hysteria, shall we, because your overly-wrought biased underpants are showing.
Dana (1e5ad4) — 2/8/2010 @ 12:34 pmEarth to NOW. Earth to NOW. You are leaving earth’s gravity.
HeavenSent (ae267e) — 2/8/2010 @ 12:53 pm22, Bon Voyage!
PCD (1d8b6d) — 2/8/2010 @ 12:57 pmApparently, I’m not the only one who thought that Audi ad was really weird.
Mike K (2cf494) — 2/8/2010 @ 4:31 pmNope, Mike K, you’re not. I did too @13.
