Oh, Retracto . . .

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:08 pm

In addition to hay — a lot of hay — Retracto the Correction Alpaca eats Big Media for lunch. I’m tossing him more easy pickins: this bit from Alex Eichler at a blog at the Atlantic:

When spring-chicken conservative activist James O’Keefe got arrested for allegedly trying to bug Senator Mary Landrieu’s phones, many on the right couldn’t distance themselves fast enough. But O’Keefe has since found sympathetic boosters.

If Eichler doesn’t know by now that there is no allegation of bugging, he’s just not paying attention. There is no excuse.

Sic ’em, Retracto!

Do you think Maselli-Mann’s going to have to recuse herself as well? She has very strong ties to Landrieu – went to school with her for at least a year possibly/probably 10 or more years in a school where there usually is only about 30 kids per grade. Sits on the board of that school with I believe Landrieu’s sister Michelle. Moon Landrieus father and Joseph Maselli sat on boards together, had some business ties going back decades.

If Letten set a standard that he recused himself because one of the defendants was a collegues son, does this set a standard for his ADA?

  2. Doesn’t surprise me in the least that the media lies. Hell, just look at what lies the POTUS has spoken in the last week.

  3. sic ’em indeed, fearsome correctitudinous llama!

  4. Try to get some video shots of your local news channels lying about this case when the case heats up again. They would need to correct it on the air, and that’s got to be a lot more distressing for these lying lefties than sneaking in a print correction. But even the print media hates to make corrections when people are watching and waiting for the correction.

It is all for naught if lawsuits aren’t pressed. I hope O’Keefe is working on several.

  5. I remember when ACORN kept lying and lying about those tapes. Soon, when it was clear O’Keefe had caught them dead to rights, they simply resorted to calling O’Keefe racist, as though that would have at all helped their case. He’s racist. Why? Because he’s a conservative and he sometimes talks about race. No, he doesn’t actually say anything racist, generally trying to argue for race neutrality, but connect the dots. He’s really white and he’s conservative and he talks about race!

I’m sure this is the next phase. Democrats will start saying that O’Keefe is simply really racist. One good example from Salon. It’s totally insane, but it’s Salon, so we don’t expect better. He shows up at a forum that discussed race, and no one can quote him saying anything, but ‘we have proof he was there, man’.

I guess that’s how the left admits defeat on something. Once they call you racist without actually quoting you, they have pretty much run out of ammo.

  6. There is no excuse

sure there is: he writes for The Atlantic, and they have no standards, other than that the content be lieberal claptrap.

  7. Or they charge you with minor bookeeping errors and turn them into affidavits like Delay which is setting new judicial records for delays

    EricPWJohnson (d0c4eb)

  8. Indictments – I just cant seem to type that word anymore without cringing

Is Tom ever going to get his day in court?

    Justice Delayed?

    EricPWJohnson (d0c4eb)

  9. Tom Delay was a douchebag. I used to really like that guy, but damn. Ronnie Earle wasn’t exactly my ideal prosecutor either, but that’s what juries are for.

  10. Retracto the Correction Alpaca is cute, but irrelevant.

I hope he poops on Breitbart’s laptop.

  11. Irrelevant to the mission to lie and distort, no matter if the lies are later debunked, if you can damage the reputation in the minds of the easily manipulated.

But really relevant to big journalism’s message about obvious and blatant bias.

Sorry, Assclown, but there’s a reason many major newsrooms are actually apologizing and retracting when targeted by the Alpaca. You never explained why you hate Breitbart so much, and for all I know he really is some kind of terrible person, but he’s relevant. You wouldn’t be so damn angry if he weren’t.

  12. Even Breitbart and Malkin originally saw it as a wiretap or bugging attempt. This is routine. New stories happen, initial reports are sketchy or unclear.

    It’s not the story.

The story is the tampering of fed telecommunications equipment under false pretenses. Full stop.

Breitbart is a relentless serial liar and propagandist and GOP shoeshine boy, who would’ve used O’Keefe’s video with some crap worked up to fit their mendacious sensationalistic sleazeball narrative.

They attempted to derail Healthcare Reform legislation, through a manufactured story. And that is what is at the heart of this.

There are lives counting on that bill.

Yeah, so, I know it sounds completely unreasonable to you, But I wouldn’t cross the street to piss on their heads if they were on fire.

    Assclown doodyheads (f0d390)

  13. Oh, it is the story. You just don’t want it to be.

You say Breitbart saw this as wiretapping at some point. You know you’re lying.

And yeah, a lot of bloggers read the initial lies that specifically lied that this was wiretapping and repeated that accusation. That’s a significant detail. I know you’d like us to forget it, or even keep pretending the lie is true. And you’re still pushing new lies we’ll have to correct tomorrow. Since it’s never going to end, we might as well learn the true lesson: not to trust your kind.

  14. Media Matters: When you need to win an argument with someone, but you can’t use the truth.

Oh, and it’s of the Keith Olbermann show! I’m sure it will be totally fair and reliable. Just like an extreme closeup of O’Keefe’s face and hearsay from a guy who denies the quote is accurate prove O’Keefe’s a racist.

Of course, it’s apt for Assclown to search high and low for more examples of ridiculous unfairness. Media Matters, Salon, those are highly partisan outfits, but still, it’s good of Assclown to help the right proves its basic case.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  15. ac dh used the term “shoeshine boy”, so i therefore denounce him/her/it as racist.

    redc1c4 (fb8750)

  16. Breitbart is a relentless serial liar

What are some examples of his lies? Not that Breitbart is the issue here. O’Keefe isn’t even the issue here. It’s the tendency of your type of psycho media to keep propagating erroneous information after it’s been refuted, due to either lying or living in some hermetically sealed off parallel universe where falsehoods keep getting recycled out to infinity like some vast loony echo chamber.

    It’s not the story.

The story is the tampering of fed telecommunications equipment under false pretenses. Full stop.

To non-psychotic people the tendency of the MSM to keep repeating a falsehood after it’s been shown false – often long after, is significant, regardless of what else is going on. Nor would non-psychotic people object to pointing it out. What possible reason is there to not point it out?

Still I’d like to know what these serial lies of Breitbart’s are.
