Patterico's Pontifications

Scott Ritter Again Nabbed in Child Internet Sex Sting

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:17 am

Last time he claimed it was a trumped-up political charge, to retaliate for his criticism of U.S. Middle East policy.

This time, it’s also an invalid charge, because . . . HEY LOOK OVER THERE!

Officer Ryan Venneman was posing as 15-year-old “Emily” in an online chat room when he was contacted by someone using the name “Delmarm4fun.” This person, later identified as Ritter, told “Emily” he was a 44-year-old male from Albany, N.Y.

“Emily” told Ritter she was a 15-year-old girl from the Poconos, at which point Ritter asked for a picture other than the one “Emily” had posted on her account. Ritter then sent her a link to his Web camera and began to masturbate on camera.

“Emily” asked Ritter for his cell phone number, which he provided.

Ritter again asked “Emily” how old she was. Told she was 15, Ritter said he didn’t realize she was 15 and turned off his webcam, saying he didn’t want to get in trouble.

Ritter told “Emily” he had been fantasizing about having sex with her, to which she replied: “Guess you turned it off …”

Ritter then said: “You want to see it finish,” reactivated his webcam and continued masturbating and ejaculated on camera.

Here’s the affidavit.

Yecch.

  1. Scott Ritter is a sick puppy who needs involuntary commitment and treatment.

    PCD (1d8b6d)

  2. I guess Saddam & his henchmen didn’t do a very good job of vetting their useful idiots. Or maybe losers like Ritter were the ‘best’ they could get.

    MU789 (514c52)

  3. What is the success rate of such commitment and treatment? Pretty near zero, I’ve heard.

    quasimodo (4af144)

  4. Look, to be fair, she did tell him that she was hiding weapons of mass destruction.

I have always suspected that saddam’s knew about his habits, and blackmailed him. maybe even helped him get girls. i mean Uday was known to rape girls younger than this “Emily” so its not outside the realm of possibility.

but, PCD, i have to disagree with you… i don’t want him treated. i want him locked up, for the rest of his life. even after being busted several times, he just won’t stop.

  5. Wasn’t that Polansky apologist/sophist one of Ritter’s buddies too?

    JD (2cb0f9)

  6. A.W., We do agree. Involuntary commitment doesn’t mean he’d ever be released. But a 9mm to the head works, too.

    PCD (1d8b6d)

  7. A.W., I agree. Saddam knew and used Ritter to his advantage and our disadvantage. I fear this sort of thing (blackmail of public figures) happens a lot.

    elissa (a5858e)

  8. Looks like to me that Ritter is qualified to work for the safe-schools czar.

    Kentucky Colonel (7e6e8b)

  9. Maybe his lawyer will use the “it’s too small to see” defense.
    That’d be fun

  10. this report makes me wonder how close Ritter was to Saddam’s sons. They had a lot in common.

    Jack (e383ed)

  11. I wonder if we will hear from good old Jeff the Comedian on this subject. I always thought that his weird defense of Polanski was due to his “friendship” with Ritter.

    Sick people stick together, huh?

    Eric Blair (ddbceb)

  12. Is Douay’s plastic shredder still around?

    nk (df76d4)

  13. Permanent incarceration without appeal, no parole.

    Also – EUW. WTF?

    Vivian Louise (eeeb3a)

  14. That is a sick dude. I did not realize that this was an encore performance.

    BT (74cbec)

  15. i would add that several inmates said they planned to “polanski” him.

That being said, i appreciate the need to quote the damning facts, to show they are, you know, damning, but seriously that blockquote, Patterico, goes under the category of TMI. yike.

  16. This stuff is really sick. The guy is a dope, too boot. Half the people in those sex chat rooms these days are probably cops. You really have to be stupid to mess around with that. I have read that most of the guys arrested for this sort of thing are adolescent boys. I guess that includes Scott.

    Mike K (2cf494)

  17. It’s OK. He was just re-enacting a scene in a movie he saw. He was hoping she would use it for hair gel. Nothing to see here. Move along.

    PatriotRider (1729de)

  18. Well, it doesn’t mean that USGOV isn’t the #1
enemy of the various peoples of the US.

    icr (304f90)

  19. This is really sick and perverted.
The cop pretending to be a 15 year girl I mean.
I mean, couldn’t the cop be out protecting real 15 year old girls? Or arresting Mexicans driving without valid liability insurance??
At least he didn’t anally violate a 13 year old girl and run off to France…

  20. Some kid out there has probably had their life destroyed by this monster.

Is whatever 15 minute enjoyment he derived really worth it? I guess, judging by his political actions, freedom for millions is outweighed by Ritter’s ambitions.

Must be something in the water.

  21. My sympathies go out to the law enforcement personnel who have to deal with this kind of filth.

    happyfeet (71f55e)

  23. happy, actually if the link is to be trusted, this is the fourth time he has been accused of this sort of thing.

    A.W. (e7d72e)

  24. Um. Once is enough for me in this special situation.

I’m not one of those who bristles when an adult male plays with a kid, shows some mild effeminate trait, or hugs his daughter. I think our Oprah culture has been corrosive to society in thinking all men are potential perverts who cannot be trusted with children.

But sex chats or arranging to pick up kids at Burger King? Once is enough for me to draw a conclusion.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  25. Wasn’t that Polansky apologist/sophist one of Ritter’s buddies too?

How soon we forget – the alleged comedian/bad performance art/poseur and his sockpuppet spent about three days defending both the child assraper and pedophiliac Ritter. Birds of a feather, don’t you know.

    Dmac (539341)

  26. I think that Burger King should file suit for defamation of trademark by association!

    Eric Blair (c8876d)

  27. Sounds like prime prospect for the UN’s Peacekeepers.

    Oh, wait…

    mojo (8096f2)

  28. That Afghanistan bomber of the CIA worked for the UN too.

I don’t think UN association is only for monstrous people, but it isn’t a mark of excellence.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  29. Saw a documentary about the cops who do this stuff. One of them was a woman who could mimic girls, of whatever age, or young teenage boys on the phone.
She finished one conversation and shuddered.
    What a view.

    Richard Aubrey (a9ba34)

  30. The only treatment that works with pedophiles is castration and female hormone therapy. There have been a number of such offenders who begged for the therapy so they could have a chance of getting out and not reoffending but many judges have banned it on civil rights grounds.

    More here.

    Mike K (2cf494)

  31. There’s probably lots of shenanigans we don’t know then I think, A Dub. Four times is a lot.

    happyfeet (71f55e)

  32. What do you expect from your typical
    leftwing “FISTER”?

    Lilly West (bfb89b)

  33. Lilly, was that supposed to be a tit for tat response to ‘teabagger’?

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  34. Oh, and instapundit has a great point. Ritter’s strange pattern in public is suspicious, and he was clearly blackmail-able.

We can’t trust perverts and addicts and cheaters.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  35. Dustin,

Dude, instapundit is totally ripping me off at #4 above.

Well, either that or great minds think alike. 🙂

    A.W. (e7d72e)

  36. deeper thought here.

Look its pretty clear that this guy is absolutely compulsive about this. he loves it so much he can’t stop.

So when he was stomping around iraq, do you think he kept his snake in the cage?

Mind you it would be stupid of him to do it, but no more than this latest incident.

And what do you think the chances are that he could get his rocks off without saddam’s agents learning of it.

So it was either blackmail, or maybe more darkly, procurement. And maybe even both. As i said above, Uday forcibly raped girls younger than that. He had an assistant who went around trying to find girls for him (yes, he was a sick bastard, rest in flames), so could he have said to his “pimp”–how about you get a few for ritter to buy him?

Its all speculation, of course. i don’t know any more than you guys do. but i think it is really plausible.

    A.W. (e7d72e)

  37. AW, I didn’t see that.

Yep, you made a good call. This guy made an utter 180. A lot of people working with the UN are dirty as hell. It wouldn’t be hard to exploit this.

Makes you really appreciate just how fragile things are. What if Obama’s coke-dealer said he was going to start giving interviews if Obama didn’t give him some kind of payoff? NEA would probably give him a grant.

We have a class of americans who would withstand torture for their country, or otherwise show a degree of honor in their life. But TV thinks those people are dimwits.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  38. Did Scott Ridder hang out at the Neverland Ranch?

    Just askin’.

    KingShamus (fb8597)

  39. I find it interesting that in the glory days of this guy’s career (the events that he talks about in his books, lectures, and interviews), he was posted in repressive regimes that were monitoring his every move. To read some of his stuff, you would think that he was James Bond. When he was in intelligence officer in Votkinsk Russia in the ’80s he wrote reports warning that the Soviets were using young girls as honeypots to turn the US arms control inspectors, yet he has now several times fallen for “to catch a predator” style honeypot traps in the US.
If you’ve had that much spy training and are doing something illegal, shouldn’t you have better tradecraft?

    Skeptic (62fec6)

  40. He was just doing research on child sex for a new book he’s going to write. Yeah, that’s it.

  41. Comment by Richard Aubrey — 1/14/2010 @ 12:16 pm

I read once about the cops who have to work these chat room posing as underage kids. As I recall, there is a very quick burn-out rate for this kind of work. Having to deal with sickos day after day leads many of them to actually request transfers to gang units and other highly dangerous divisions, just to get away from the perverts.

    JVW (48cbba)

  42. You guys are looking at this all wrong.

This guy is a shoe-in for the Obama Safe Schools Czar spot once Kevin “Fisting is good for you, children” Jennings gets ousted.

    Think “progressively.”

    Good Lt. (8ba526)

You are definitely onto something significant.

    Dustin F (b54cdc)

  44. Maybe he couldn’t find WMDs but he’s utterly remarkable at finding cops posing as teens.

Of course, he worked for the UN where chasing young girls seems to be written into the job descriptions.

    JEM (a0f32a)

  45. The affidavit says that Ritter started the conversation with the girl and then for some reason showed his face on camera. The video apparently was not recorded and the officer had to recognize Ritter from the photos he saw later. It is also not clear why he gave his full name and location. Is it so that he would not be confused with other Scott or Bill Ritters? Scott Ritter seem to act very fullish for an intelligence agent, that had been previously caught in a very similar sting. Someone seems to have created a very easy case for the local police office that had only few such cases, one of which happens to be Scott Ritter. In conspirators’ defense, they did not try to totally destroy Ritter, even though they could. He may not get any time at all. Yet, his reputation is badly damaged already. The smear campaign could have failed, and then no one would have heard about it. But it has succeeded and it is all over the news.

But why bother? The Iraq war is behind. This time it could be about Iran. Ritter is the only voice in the Western world arguing that Iran is not trying to acquire nuclear weapons. The talk from the previous smear campaign seems to have faded away as he did manage to get on to cable news couple times, but he was put down again. It does seem like a cycle and no one will listen to him again. The only thing missing is a war on Iran…
