“Typical Teenage Angst”

Filed under: Crime — DRJ @ 11:31 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

An 11-year-old girl and her 15-year-old boyfriend have been arrested for trying to burn the girl’s sleeping mother alive:

“Samantha Broadhead and Jack Ault have been charged with attempted murder and arson after the fire Tuesday in Clearwater — about 20 miles west of Tampa on Florida’s Gulf Coast — MyFoxTampa.com reported.

Clearwater Police Department detectives say the young couple poured gasoline on Nancy Broadhead’s bedroom floor and bed, and then set the room aflame. Police say the pair escaped in the mother’s 2007 Ford Focus.”

Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts said a motive was “probably just typical teenage angst.”

  1. is there no crime so heinous that an excuse doesn’t get offered up without conscious effort?

  2. on, and why does an eleven year old have a boy friend, let alone one that much older than her?

    WTF????

  3. Um, wow. Sociopathy gets a pass nowadays, huh?

  4. I wonder if that spokesdweeb has any typical teenagers, and if so, why is she still alive and breathing after their angst?

  5. Oh, and I didn’t know the teen years started at oneteen.

  6. Why is it always Florida?

  7. I suspect the lady started to say “typical teenage a**holes” and caught herself with the first word she could think of.

  8. Florida is wacko heaven.

  9. Geography isn’t the problem, more likely it’s related to the fact there was no mention of an adult male presence anywhere in the article. 15 year old boys behave better when they know there’s a big dog around who’s keeping his eyes open.

No kidding–if my 11-year-old daughter brought home a 15-yr-old boyfriend, I’d be sure to make him aware of my gun collection and proficiencies in each of them.

  11. The rest if story undoubtedly revolves around why the mother was asleep and the 11 year old was awake with her erstwhile boyfriend and a container of gas. See how little miss angst enjoys juvenile hall for awhile with attempted murder and arson on her rap sheet.

This young couple represent unapologetic evil. I can even here them saying “whatever…talk to the hand” as they are led away. I hope society doesn’t end up paying for her inevitable love child.

  12. The boyfriend has a record of seven arrests, five this year. Several of them for assaults of various types.

There is hardly any difference between them and Mohammed Atta.

  14. Mike K’s info draws an interesting picture in my mind.

Mother: First off, he’s much too old for you. Second, he’s always in trouble with the law. And all those assault charges? If you think he won’t hurt you if you ever make him mad, you got another thing coming, girl. I’m putting my foot down. You’re grounded and you’re not to see him ever again.

    Daughter: Okay, mom. Sleep well.

  15. If I were the Child’s mother, out of a very strong sense of need for self preservation, I would enact a very late, late-term abortion on my child. I would most likely utilize a coat hanger as well. Hey, call me old school!

  16. Coat-hangers make a good garrot, if you remember to use short pieces of broom-handle for grips.

  17. “angst” – ?

I don’t think that word means what she thinks it means.

  18. I’m now hearing that the mother has a record of arrests, some for child endangerment.

    Mike K (2cf494)

  19. I’m wondering if any of that child endangerment included letting her kid hang out with gangsta thugs and curfew violations.

    John Hitchcock (3fd153)

  20. Regarding the mother’s arrest record, and ropelight’s comment about a strong male presence, I think it’s safe to say that neither child — nor the girl’s mother when she was a child — have had a strong male presence in the home.

As for the girl not being a “teen”; no, she’s not. She’s eleventy!!!

That’s the same thing that Malvo kid suffered with right?

  22. Teenage angst has paid off well, now I’m bored an old… so lets go set your mom on fire

  23. An 11 year-old girl with a 15 year old boyfriend? Gee… I wonder how that will end.

The Clearwater PD may want to revisit who they put out front to face the media.
