The Saudi-and Yemeni-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on Northwest Flight #253:

“Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the attempted attack on a U.S. airliner on Christmas day, saying it was retaliation for a U.S. operation against the group in Yemen.

In a statement posted on the Internet, the group said 23-year-old Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab coordinated with members of the group.”

Way to go, Janie.

  1. Hell of a job, Janie!

  2. If we don’t start profiling our transportation system is doomed. This idiotic notion that a 75-year old grandmother should be treated the same as a 22-year old Arab is so stupid. Equally stupid is the knee-jerk reaction by the gov’t ordering hands on knees and nothing in your lap for the last hour of a flight. Okay, if I’m a terrorist flying to America from somewhere in Europe, I’ll just get a ticket to Dallas so that once we fly into American air space I now have at least 2 hours to do my dirty work.

  3. Don’t you realize that these are just minor and one – off incidents, while we have a veritable army of crazed war veterans returning from Iraq, just itching to carry out monstrous acts of violence across the land?

  4. No kidding, jwarner.

I mean really. Let’s get serious here. I do not fly anymore unless it is unavoidable. The TSA people are like the gestapo, and they know it, and they act like it. I have never been treated the way I was when I asked a question in Orlando of the TSA oops, I mean, the Gestapo. I have never been treated like that in my life, and I have traveled the world.

Apparently, this guy didn’t even have a passport? Wow. Absolutely amazing.

And having to sit on your hands the last hour of the flight? Not even allowing people to read? How about going to the bathroom? Will the passengers have to raise their hands like children and ask to go #1 or #2?

The terrorists must be laughing their butts off.
The VICTIMS have to pay. What a crock.

We’re in the best of hands…NOT. Talk about the keystone cops (but at least they were funny)

  5. Countdown to when the idiot Nepolitano resigns….and it will happen because affirmative action Peter Principle President will throw her under the bus faster than I can say….

    WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS!!!

  6. “Countdown to when the idiot Nepolitano resigns…”

It’s only a matter of time before the news-vans start to clog the streets around her residence, and the cameramen set-up on the sidewalk and driveway…
Oh, wait…that’s what happens when the WH is under GOP control.
    Never mind.

That is exactly what I was talking about post 9/11 when the same folks, over paid at $7 an hour got $15 and federal protections! They are still $7 an hour people, but have more power to yield over us commoners that dare to tread through their check points!

Papers please, “your papers are not in order”!!!!

Just quit flying altogether, the airlines will soon figure out that customers can do their own profiling! It’s by now a proven fact that TSA lackeys can’t even put a dent in the real threats they allow to board planes. Could that be cuz it aint their asses on board?

  8. If anything speaks to the weakness of our security, it is the terrorist’s mocking of it,

In the statement, published on radical Islamist Web sites, the group hailed the “brother” who carried out the “heroic attack.” The group said it tested a “new kind of explosives” in the attack, and hailed the fact that the explosives “passed through security.”

Quite obviously, Janet, the system did not work. And Janet, the enemy gloats over how nicely you’ve cleared the way for their mission.

  9. …meanwhile, the awesome and totally cool dude and leader of the free world lies on a Hawaiian beach, uttering nary a word. And now more protestors being shot on the streets of Iran?

  10. I see there are some lawyers in the audience… What happened if me and my fellow passengers started asking fellow suspicious passengers for their bona fides? I’m mean with a little public education (Sponsored in TV and print ads by conservative groups) couldn’t the average american profile his or her own flight? And if I am suspicious of a fellow passenger do I have the right to be switched or have him or her switched?
    Anyone?

  11. Holy Crap, now we’re learning that the two terrorists were released from…(wait for it)… GITMO in 2007!

    http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/men-believed-northwest-airlines-plot-set-free/story?id=9434065

Oh yeah, let’s bring ’em all to Illinois! Close that damn torture chamber down right now! Brilliant!

    Dmac (a964d5)

  12. OMG, Dmac, ART THERAPY???? This is becoming more tragic and comical by the moment!

American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an “art therapy rehabilitation program” and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials.

Who needs GITMO or a super max when you’ve got Art Therapy?! (Ironically, my visiting niece is entering the Masters Program for Art Therapy…I better give her a heads-up!)

    Dana (f64b7d)

  13. But Dana, this will in no way justify keeping GITMO open, since they were released under Booooooosh. So we already have a handy excuse, tailor – made for the doofuses presently esconsed in the WH.

    Dmac (a964d5)

  14. #12 Dana quotes Dmac’s link:

to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an “art therapy rehabilitation program”

A Saudi art therapy rehabilitation program.

    The mind boggles.

  15. Maybe in Saudi Arabia you get to do an artist’s rendering of an Egyptian girl doing the dance of the seven(ty-two) veils with a live model present. That would be theraputic, would it not?

    John Hitchcock (3fd153)

  16. Art Therapy as a cure for the misunderstood terrorist? Heh.

“Art therapy is a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.”

  17. The Saudi-and Yemeni-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on Northwest Flight #253:…

Well, Napolitano says that there’s no indication of a larger terror plot. At least she said that yesterday…

    Blacque Jacques Shellacque (76097c)

  18. Words fail me when trying to describe the overwhelming pride I feel in regard to former Governor Napolitano. Yes, words . . .

    Oh yeah.

The “system” worked. The kill-two-birds-with-one-stone thinking of “Let’s appoint a gay (alleged) female” to a post that she just might not be qualified for, worked because she met the only criteria that Bambi was looking for: g-f
