‘Home Grown Terrorism’ Update

[Guest post by DRJ]

Following up on this post about 5 young Muslim-American men arrested in Pakistan for investigation of links to terror groups, a Pakistani official says the men were to be used for an attack on a Pakistan nuclear facility:

“Usman Anwar, police chief in Sargodha, where the men were arrested this month, said emails had revealed plans for the young men from Virginia to travel to a Pakistani nuclear power plant.

“We believe that they were supposed to be used inside Pakistan,” Anwar told Reuters by telephone.

“In their last email to the Taliban, we found they mentioned the Chashma Nuclear Plant and that’s why they were going to Mianwali (district).”

The Americans are described as joining the “militant jihad through cyber channels:”

“Some analysts say the case of the Americans reflects a new strategy by militants to try to avoid tighter security measures by forming networks on the Internet.

The men — two are of Pakistani ancestry, one of Egyptian, one of Yemeni and one of Eritrean — may face terrorism charges.”

Hopefully the Obama Administration will retain surveillance of international communications, but what happened to kids airing their rebellious side by running off to join the circus?

  1. What, no innocent shepherds or religious students seeking enlightenment? Is the left going to have to invent some new memes?

  3. Unless the US is aggressively on the attack against AQ and its supporters, we will suffer more attacks in 2010 than the increased attacks we’ve faced in 2009. Sweeping the Ft. Hood terror attack under the rug just inspires more attacks. Bringing AQ thugs to the US for a public paid propaganda extravaganza enhances the value of future attacks. Refusing to call AQ warriors against the US just motivates them to try harder to get his attention.
Obama has taken a strong hand on terror given him by Bush and misplayed it. He took at weak hand on the economy and misplayed it to a worse economy. Hopefully he’ll do no more damage, but I think worse is to come.

  4. He’s losing bet after bet, and all he does is double-down.

You’re all on your own, for these fools haven’t a clue, and they can’t afford to buy a vowel.

  5. richardb #3 You are spot on. I no longer believe Barry is simply over his head. He knows exactly what he is doing.

Seriously? Are they just now having this idea dawn on them?

I’ve been wondering why it’s taken so long.

These people need to hire me, because apparently I’m way, way smarter than them.

Or I’m more cynical and paranoid. One of the two.

Now that the United States no longer controls the internet, how long before some European/South American or UN bureaucrat (probably a European UN bureaucrat who was born in South America) decides that all this snooping around the internet is just too disrespectful of the rights of Muslims to organize terrorist cells and plot terrorist attacks online?

  8. But… but… haven’t these young men heard that Barry has banned torture and called for a “new beginning” in America’s relationship with the Islamic world?

  9. We are in the best of hands, as Jimmy Napolitano continues to show us. Seriously, this creature is too dumb to even hide her stupidity as this article shows.

  10. Obama’s policies are weakly grounded upon a delusional premise that appeasement can safe guard a nation’s security.
Release dozens of terrorists from Gauntanamo to Yemen and elsewhere. Spend a year kissing up to Iran’s thuggish and murderous leadership. Spend over a trillion dollars on payoffs to his supporters.

This president is proving to be a clear and present danger to America.

  11. Janet Napolitano on Jake Tapper this morning talking about the bomber:

    “The system worked.”

Umm, Jan…you are gonna wanna rethink that
