President ‘Don’t Blame Me’

[Guest post by DRJ]

President Obama is getting smacked by ABC News (Jake Tapper and the Fact Check Desk) and progressive groups for telling the Washington Post he didn’t campaign on the public option:

  1. Gee, I’m so sad to see his loyal apparatchiks suddenly feel so betrayed.

    Dmac (a964d5)

  2. It’s nice to see some professionalism displayed by a MSM journalist in D.C.! Jake Tapper has been an honest broker and stands head and shoulders above his biased, brown-nosed, lemming-like contemporaries.

    GeneralMalaise (a38f27)

  3. He’s so little.

    happyfeet (2c63dd)

  4. Or small….. maybe not a bad man…. just a very small one.

A very small sense of right and wrong… insignificant really

    SteveG (909b57)

  5. The irony is that Jake Tapper comes from the left, I think Mother Jones, before ABC.

Don’t worry about whether Obama is lying about his plans. He has now told us that he was kidding about health care. he wants to put it off until February.

    Now what, Harry ?

    Mike K (2cf494)

  6. President O’Dumbo is the biggest liar to ever live in or visit the white house and after Slick Willie that’s saying something.

    Scrapiron (996c34)

  7. I have no idea what he really means by that comment regarding healthcare. Does anyone?

    Dmac (a964d5)

  8. Liar, liar, liar. And in the age of YouTube you’d think he’d wise up and realise we can rewind the freakin tape and see his very own words.

Listen to me, don’t believe your lying eyes, listen to me…..ack ack ack puke.

    J. Raymond Wright (e8d0ca)

  9. This taller.thinner version of Hugo Chavez is a LIAR.

  10. Today is Festivus. My feat of strength is to hold my bile whenever I see Obama’s photo. Grievances? You don’t have enough bandwidth for those.

    Old Coot (d2bd0f)

  11. It’s amazing that the man who really was an amazing politician on the campaign trail has turned out to be the worst politician in office to ever occupy the West Wing. I mean honestly, John Quincy Adams was better at the politics of governing than this buffoon.

    chaos (9c54c6)

  12. “You lie!” doesn’t even begin to describe this man’s character.

    Wake up, America…you unconscious bastards!
(Referring of course to the ninety percent that still hasn’t discovered that the State-run Media is rotten to the core.)

  13. Expiration dates bitches!!!!

    daleyrocks (718861)

  14. “Obama called the public option his preferred choice to ensure broad coverage and provide cost-cutting competition to the private insurers. But he has never demanded that it be part of a final bill.”

    Now watch the video again.

    Patterico (4ef72a)

  15. Jackie posted an awesome PJTV SCrowder video (which only slightly ties in here). I put it up on my site as well.

    John Hitchcock (3fd153)

  16. Ah yes. Another progressive group complaining that Bee Ho isn’t far enough to the Left.

  17. What do you expect, when you lie about everything and anything.

One word you will never ever associate with our dear reader — CHARACTER

    bill-tb (541ea9)

  18. Most “Obama lied” charges are basically partisan nonsense, unlike “Bush lied,” which were spot-on criticisms. 🙂

But on this one, the president told a whopper and was rightly checked on it. I saw him campaign in person last year — he pushed the public option. Then he did so again in his big health care speech, to a standing ovation from his fellow Dems.

He has, in fact, mentioned it repeatedly. So this notion where he pretends to be totally shocked that the “left” wants this so bad and poor Obama just doesn’t know how on earth they got this idea into their heads — it’s ridiculous.

I’m continually fascinated how even savvy politicians forget we live in an age of YouTube. They rely on the laziness of the mainstream media, which often gets them out of jam, but not so much anymore.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  19. Partisan nonsense? Did Myron really use that phrase? I needed a laugh this morning, and “Mr. Teabagger” just provided it.

    Eric Blair (ddbceb)

  20. Most “Obama lied” charges are basically partisan nonsense, unlike “Bush lied,” which were spot-on criticisms

I don’t know what the smiley face means but maybe Moron is starting to wonder.

    Mike K (2cf494)

  21. Eric: I’m not a Teabagger. That’s you right-wingers.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  22. Mike K: How old are you? You seem to have nothing but name-calling. No ideas.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  23. Obama seems to think that he can blame Bush even for what Obama does. Perhaps Obama has forgotten that he won?

    htom (412a17)

  24. And the hits just keep on coming, Myron! Did you actually criticize Mike K. for name calling—after yet another “Teabagger” comment?

You are no longer merely irritating. You are…well, let’s let a great philosopher say it better than I could, you silly little hypocrite:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_Kh7nLplWo

    Eric Blair (ddbceb)

  25. Perhaps Obama has forgotten that he won?

Probably not, since he’s on the verge of succeeding where seven presidents failed and over the objections of a committed “Party of No.”

That’s why he shouldn’t step on his own big news with this silly lie.

As for this near-achievement, I wonder how years down the road, the GOP is going to try to claim credit for this, like they’ve been trying with civil rights (“A higher percentage of us voted yes!”)

In a similar vein, to see Repubs defend Medicare (which Reagan derided as socialism) has been one of the more shocking and satisfying events of this cycle. A program they once hated. Pols will do and say anything.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  26. Speaking of “no ideas.”

At least we know why Myron is so fixated on the practice of teabagging, based on his starry eyed support of you know who’s half-vast achievements.

    B+ job, Myron!

    Eric Blair (ddbceb)

  27. Eric: I was merely affixing the teabagger epithet to where it belongs. That is not associated with people on the left, but people on the right. You should know things like this, if you plan to be taken seriously.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  28. “In a similar vein, to see Repubs defend Medicare (which Reagan derided as socialism) has been one of the more shocking and satisfying events of this cycle.”

Ho Hum. Any new talking points Myron? Just the same old partisan nonsense?

    daleyrocks (718861)

  29. No, Myron, I suspect you didn’t know what it meant, and just went along with your MSM buddies. But you sure do adore your CiC, and anything at all with a “D” attached.

You are just a silly little partisan troll. Go away, please. You aren’t even an interesting irritant.

    Eric Blair (ddbceb)

  30. daleyrocks: It’s easier to side-step a point, rather than tackle it. Are you disputing the GOP’s flip-flop on Medicare or just accepting it as the “cost of doing business” in Washington?

Was your hero Reagan wrong then or wrong now?

    Myron (6a93dd)

  31. I suspect you didn’t know what it meant,

No you didn’t. I think you’re trying — and failing — to be cute. I’m giving you a little forbearance b/c it’s Christmas eve.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  32. “In a similar vein, to see Repubs defend Medicare (which Reagan derided as socialism) has been one of the more shocking and satisfying events of this cycle.”

Myron – It is kind of funny how an entitlement program that morphed into something that Democrats said it was never intended to be and Americans have been paying into for over 40 years in anticipation of relying on in their retirement years sort of becomes part of the fabric of society. Entitlement programs have a way of doing that, which is why conservatives generally approach them cautiously but liberally embrace them with arms wide open. How you would twist conservatives’ defense of medicare in the face of Democrat blunt force cuts and rationing approaches opposed by more than 60% of the country merely demonstrates your ability to talk out of both sides of your mouth simultaneously. You really have no credibility. You either make up meaningless talking points or regurgitate false ones you find on progressive web sites. Learn something before talking to the adults!

Get me a juice box Myron!

    daleyrocks (718861)

  33. daley: A lot of verbiage, a little bit of spit, but no answers.

How about answering my question, champ. Are you capable?

Was Reagan wrong then or wrong now?

Should we have Medicare or not?

Why are Republicans defending a program they once abhorred and mostly voted against?

    Myron (6a93dd)

  34. Daley: By the way, just to show you how someone who is sure of himself and knows what he’s talking about answers direct questions, here’s a primer:

Was Reagan wrong then or wrong now?

    He was wrong then.

Should we have Medicare or not?

We should. The greatest nation can take care of the welfare of its people, whether they have money or not, whether they are young and can still contribute to the work force or whether they are enjoying a well-earned retirement.

Why are Republicans defending a program they once abhorred and mostly voted against?

They are playing unprincipled politics. Democrats supported Medicare back then. They support it now. They supported universal health care back then. They support it now. They will support it 40 years from now, and 100 years from now, when I suspect the GOP will be gone or changed beyond recognition.

That’s called having a core belief system. Get one today, daley. I can help.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  35. Myron – Read my comment again. Reagan was right.

The Government Teat – Suck It, Embrace It. It is smarter than you.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  36. Daley: You argue like a college kid. I hope you’re at least in college and not a grown man putting up that claptrap!

    Myron (6a93dd)

  37. “That’s called having a core belief system. Get one today, daley. I can help.”

Myron – No thanks. I’ve got one. You have already admitted you are an ends justify the means guy here. No principles there, buddy. Lying about their policies to get elected because nobody would vote for them otherwise (see Obama, Barack) is not a principled way to operated, but a core belief of the Democrat party. Sorry, I don’t jump in bed with pond scum like that.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  38. “That is not associated with people on the left, but people on the right. You should know things like this, if you plan to be taken seriously.”

    Serious as a moonbat?

    GeneralMalaise (a38f27)

  39. “Daley: You argue like a college kid.”

Myron – Are you owning up to grade school?

    daleyrocks (718861)

  40. daley: Obama campaigned on health care reform. He mentioned it in every speech. Every one. The vast majority of Democrats in ‘o8 campaigned on health care reform. It was THEE issue in the Democratic primary for president.

    Now, the ball is rolling.

So, where exactly is the subterfuge? In other words, what the hell are you talking about?

    Myron (6a93dd)

  41. “Daley: You argue like a college kid.”

Precious. I think I’ll frame this one coming from Myron. The lack of self-awareness in him approaches 100%.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  42. “So, where exactly is the subterfuge?”

Myron – Please make a list of Obama’s broken promises. If you need help, I’m sure other commenters will be more than willing to help out. This is not rocket science, even for somebody with a grade school mind.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  43. Daley: You righties have energy, for short bursts. But you don’t have implacability. That’s what wins in Washington over time. The GOP needs more Ted Kennedys and fewer Newt Gingriches.

The revolutionaries who founded our country created a brilliant document that made later revolution quite difficult. (Nothing wrong with that. You generally want the Republic to stay together.)

Lasting change is won over generations.

Anger just can’t sustain a party over that time span. DRJ said conservatives are “happier.” I certainly don’t see it in their politics. I see bitterness and bile, and that’s what young voters see, too, in what little bit of politics they tune into.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  44. GeneralMalaise: Who are you? Are you Daley?

    Myron (6a93dd)

  45. Myron… you’ve fallen behind schedule!

    1. Body, clothes and place of prayer must be clean.
    2. Perform obamu (ritual ablution) if needed.
    3. Women are required to cover their hair.
    4. Face the puckah, the direction of D.C..
    5. Stand erect, head down, hands at sides, feet evenly spaced.
    6. Recite baraqa (private call to prayer)

    GeneralMalaise (a38f27)

  46. Are you owning up to grade school?

This is what I’m talking about, Daley. Juvenile. I’m trying to teach you something, young’un. You whipper-snappers are always going off half-cocked with poorly formed beliefs, making a lot of noise on blogs and whatnot.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  47. daleyrocks: I noticed how you neatly side-stepped my comment about Obama campaigning on health care reform and pushing for health care reform. Which you seem to interpret as some kind of broken promise.

As for the rest of his agenda, he’s been in one year. There’s no major idea he has yet abandoned. As mentioned above, sometimes things in Washington take time. It’s a lesson you need to learn.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  48. GeneralMalaise: I don’t know what you’re talking about. Why waste people’s time? I’m trying to school young Daley, here.

Why don’t you go spend some time with your family, if they’ll have you, rather than waste bandwidth here?

    Myron (6a93dd)

  49. The president says that “love must always be the North Star that guides us on our journey.”

Here’s a recap of his World Tour ’09:

    1. Surrendering to Russia over missile defence.
    2. Appeasing the mullahs of Iran.
    3. Ending the war on terror.
    4. Announcing a surge while declaring an exit.
    5. Apologizing to France for America’s “arrogance.”
    6. Giving DVDs to the British Prime Minister.
    7. Siding with Marxists in Honduras.
    8. Bowing to emperors and kings.
    9. Embracing genocidal killers in Sudan.
    10. Throwing Churchill out of the White House.

    GeneralMalaise (a38f27)

  50. GeneralMalaise: Oh. You’re one of those. I’ll be ignoring you now. Don’t take it the wrong way.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  51. Oh my God, it’s a genuine New Deal Democrat, as if on loan from a museum (probably the New-York Historical Society). The world owes you a living, huh, Myron?

    Official Internet Data Office (0a4bf0)

  52. “…Why don’t you go spend some time with your family, if they’ll have you, rather than waste bandwidth here?…”

Much becomes clear about Myron The Cheerleader.

It’s sure true that those dadgummed Republicans are all filled with anger and bile. Yup. They aren’t all polite and well spoken and non-insulting, like Myron.

And um…you might want to be reading some polls. I mean, in between your family and friend duties.

    Eric Blair (ddbceb)

  53. The world owes you a living, huh, Myron?

Data: I earn my own keep. But I do recognize there are people less fortunate than I.
You heartless bas—d. It’s Christmas, for God’s sake.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  54. It’s Christmas 365 days a year under Myronomics!

    Official Internet Data Office (0a4bf0)

  55. Eric Blair: Polls.

There you go again — playing the short game.

What are polls for this one day, Dec. 24, 2009, vs. this health care bill, in the long term?

    To paraphrase Yoda:

    “That is why you fail.”

I doubt very seriously Dems will lose either chamber, but even if they did, it would just be a short-term setback.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  56. “I’m trying to teach you something, young’un.”

It just keeps getting better! Keep digging Myron. I have sidestepped nothing. I usually ignore irrelevant questions. People who claim to be mature avoid asking irrelevant questions. Children insist on asking irrelevant questions and demand answers to them. That’s your pattern here.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  57. Merry Christmas, Myron. Now go away.

    GeneralMalaise (a38f27)

  58. To paraphrase Yoda:

    “That is why you fail.”

Ah, yes… a Star Wars geek. Who woulda thunk it.

    GeneralMalaise (a38f27)

  59. Daley: I guess you can call any question irrelevant if you don’t want to answer it.

By gaw, you’ve found a loop-hole to reasoned debate. Or so you think you have. But really, it just puts your weakness on display for all to see. Sorry. I tried to help you.

On that note, I have to raise up and bounce. I might deign to check in later to see if anyone posts something coherent — as opposed to, say, whatever Gen. Malaise is presently farting onto the Internet.

Otherwise, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy Health Care Reform Bill. I knew we could get it done if we all worked together.

    Myron (6a93dd)

  60. “I doubt very seriously Dems will lose either chamber”

In 1994, the Congressional generic ballot between Democrats and Republicans was even. The Democrats lost 54 seats in the House. Yesterday, the Rasmussen Reports polling organization reported the generic Congressional ballot as +8 Republican.

What will happen to the Democrats in 2010 has only one historical precedent, that from 1876: Little Big Horn.

    Official Internet Data Office (0a4bf0)

  61. “By gaw, you’ve found a loop-hole to reasoned debate.”

Myron – Please alert the media if you intend to put any reasoning in your comments. The readers here will be shocked, shocked I tell you.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  62. Myron thinks sexual innuendo makes people take him seriously? How droll.

Together with the fatuous claim that Obama has not abandoned any of his campaign promises, its completely hilarious.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  63. “…I have to raise up and bounce….”

    Um. TMI.

I think it is funny when Myron tries to sound all hep.

    Eric Blair (ddbceb)

  64. Myron… we hardly knew yeh.

Seriously, Myron… you da bomb… ya feel me?

    GeneralMalaise (a38f27)

  65. “…I have to raise up and bounce….”

Eric – Didn’t we have another troll who used the term “bounce” when he was fleeing the board?

    daleyrocks (718861)

  66. Hmmm. First, GM: eeewwwww. Do you really want to be “felt” by the Teabaggin’ Cheerleader? Besides, given how often this TLE has snarked about being older and wiser than other posters, I would think he would be more of the “all reet” persuasion.

Daley, this character is nothing if not a reflexive “follower,” if you know what I mean. But, yes I think you are on to something.

    Eric Blair (584916)

  67. “…having a core belief system…”

    I BELIEVE:
That a good 6-o’clock hold, center-mass, will seriously degrade any threat.

Put your Faith in God, but trust your life to John Moses Browning!

    AD - RtR/OS! (396a30)

  68. Mike K: How old are you? You seem to have nothing but name-calling. No ideas.

Said by a commenter who calls others “teabaggers.” Please detail exactly what that term entails, and stop ducking the question, which was put to you directly over a week ago. Please answer what your slur means, in the common vernacular.

Don’t ever call anyone on this site someone who “name calls” unless you can explain what the term that you’ve used repeatedly means.

    Dmac (a964d5)

  69. And stop ducking out from the site like a common variety coward. You sound like you’re around 12 years old, but without the developing gonads.

    Dmac (a964d5)
